Probably the outlier on this but I can't think of a single wrestler I would want less in AEW than Kevin Steen,

On last weeks SD I thought Owens was the least entertaining person in his segment with Corbin and Paul.  But having read that news above, that maybe makes some sense.   I think a motivated and focused heel Owens is fine.  I just don’t want goofy babyface Owens that he seems to have been for a large part of recent times.

Conversely I cannot stand Sami’s heel persona (in a good way).  He is such a hateable smug bad guy, however I never want Sami in AEW.  I just don’t think that character fits.

I would much prefer it if TK could somehow convince El Generico to leave the orphanage for a few years to come back to the biz.

As I've stated before, I'd never wish for someone to lose their job (and I'd certainly not fantasy book it) but as a blanket statement: if it came down to dollars and cents, there are people you can lose to make cap space for someone like Sami Zayn. And with the nature of the non-WWE world these days, there's no reason that a Chris Hero couldn't sign with any other promotion and still make an appearance or do a one off match, or you can send a guy to wherever he ends up. Personally, I'm still holding out for Miro vs. Rhino, for example.

Edit @JijiChuckie T is safe, I think Best Friends kind of has that thing going on where they're almost mascots like a New Day or a Spike Dudley

It’s been a long day, but I totally read that as Miro v Riho at first.

  3. Some wrestlers from the early days of AEW will begin to feel like Woody and the gang when Buzz Lightyear shows up in Toy Story.

TK’s mom will, at some point, have to take a big box with all the toys TK doesn’t want to play with anymore and drop them off at the local thrift store.

TK will be like “Mom, where’s Private Party? They were just here and now I can’t find them!

  4. I’ve had a nagging feeling all day that Paul Wight isn’t making the match following the Gunn club attack, and will be replaced by a returning or debuting wrestler.   However,I am reassured that AEW shows are normally “as advertised”.  I think I have WWE scar tissue.

On the list of archetypes of people running wrestling companies, "enthusiastic socially awkward supernerd" tends to be my preference over "carny always trying to put one over on own fanbase" or "openly hostile to patrons and staff".

(Actually, being the kind of person who doesn't really like to see how the sausage is made, "not applicable" would be preferred over that, but I'm aware that's simply not possible in the age where whoever is approving the direct deposits has to put themselves on camera at some point.)

Let’s not forget that Cornette, Heyman and Russo all started in the business as young enthusiastic supernerds.  There’s plenty of time for the business to wear TK down!

  6. First half hour kind of dragged but other than I really liked this show.

Happy Corbin is ridiculous, kind of reminds me when Bradshaw made the jump to JBL.

Quite like the Rey / Dominic story.  Putting Dominic in with Sami is a great idea.  Thought they had a good match.  and I’d like to see more.  If Chavo and Vickie weren’t in AEW I’ve a feeling we might have gotten “your not my real Father, Eddie is” and a Dominic heel turn.

The thing about WWE is, it's monotonous and formulaic. And a lot of the best matches in recent WWE history have been good because they broke the formula. Which is going to be harder to do, with people who have never worked outside of it.

There’s an argument that WWF/E has always been this way.  80’s TV was 99% jobber squash matches.  PPV’s were mostly undercard house show returns with a marquee match on top.

Through the years it was always big guys having formulaic matches supported by the IC (or below) level “workrate” guys.

    This is the WWE-ay

  8. They will really need to rework that Demolition theme song.

    ”Well here comes the Ax

    here comes the Smasher

then there was Crush and sort of the Bashams

when they were with Shaniqua; and now Karrion Kross Is doing the same”

Im not saying someone at WWE is fascinated by the Road Warrior look but it seems too much of a coincidence.

    Positive stuff - I really enjoyed AJ & Omos v RK-Bro.

RK-Bro shouldn’t work but they are really fun together.

The other tag match with Priest / Drew vs. Lashley & Sheamus was kind of a fun hoss battle.
