just saw "Monie in the Middle" by Monie Love on MTV Classic and realized "hey there's a reference to be made here involving Mercedes Mone if they want to make it in the future"

Considering how she has interjected herself between Willow and Julia by challenging the winner already, that reference should be very topical sooner than later.

  2. The first 5 workout week in a long time. I did legs and calves on the squat machine on Wednesday. Went up to 467, but that didn't move very well, but 423 went surprisingly well and 364 went deep on several reps. Did calves on the way up, after each squat set and then just calves after the 467 set. My legs were really messed up the next day. It's been a while since squats, for sure.

Thursday was mostly seal row and some chest flies with dumbells on the floor and with resistance bands. I started with 154, then 198, 242, 286, 330, 286, 242, 198 and 154. To be honest, only 242 and lower went really well, but I did what I could with the rest of them. Also did revese grip curls with 154 before and after all the sets. 12 and 6 rep, respectively.

Today was Trapbar. Started with deficit lifts, as usual. 5x133, 5x265, 4x375,5, but once again ran into trouble with 469 and ended up doing 2 separate singles with Versas from the floor level. Then to the blocks. Did 2x565 off the half blocks and 2x665 off the 3/4 blocks, then 2x760 off the full blocks and 3 separate singles with 848 without shoes. Then, with shoes 2x760, 6x665 and with rest-pause, 15x565. Then shrugs with 475,5 (about 13 reps), 381 (some 30ish reps), 271 (a lot of reps) and 133 (maybe for a minute straight, maybe). Limited ab work for the finish. This was quite the week for a change.

  3. Only got until the introductions of the Stardom 6-woman tag, but the opener was just insane, and on the pre-show Blake Christian and The Artist Formerly Known as Black Taurus brought it as well! I also enjoyed the first match of the pre-show, but was also cooking at the same time, so I missed parts of it

  4. I tried to achieve the super-pump on Monday, I did OK, but not what I described last week, for sure.

Started with 3 sets of incline dumbell bench with 88's and hammer curls. 7, 8 and 7 reps on the bench and hammer curl went nicely this time. I did several sets of lat pull downs with resistance bands and push downs with the lat pull down machine. 4 sets of 15 or so reps of reverse grip curls on the EZ Bar with 108 lbs. Standing double bicep curls with 44's and 39,5's, then 35's and 31's sitting on the incline bench. Also did a few reps of incline dumbell bench, slow and deep with each of those weights. There were some sets of side delt raises and some pretty good ab work in the end. The pump? 44 cm on each arm.

Continued on a similar path on Tuesday, but that was probably not a great idea. I did regular bench and standing double bicep curl again. On the bench, 12x164 as a warm-up, then 4 sets of 3-4 with 252, then 4x230 and a long set with rest pause and many different widths of grip on the 164 (10 at first then several 3's and 4's after a short rest and a change in grip). The curls were with 26,5's, 31's, 35's, 39,5's, 44's, 33's, 22's and 55's. Abs for the finish today as well. Tomorrow, it's legs or nothing.

I am 43 and may have just figured out how to do pushups properly. Please clap.

If you feel like going into detail as to what you are doing differently now from before, then the rest of us could compare our way of doing them. This way we can all learn, if need be.

So your telling me The son of scrooge McDuck needed to save 1600 clams that bad

That's probably not even the amount of cash that will be raining down from the ceiling during Okada's Dynasty entrance.

Well, I  personally would probably do things in order to save 1600 in legit currency, but given these circumstances, I have to wonder if that was the real reason?

I didn't watch TV Wrestling for 15 plus years in large part due to the McMahon monopoly. I feel privileged to say I have no Vince-isms. Sorry for your loss of Fun.

Thanks! And if I live long enough to ever have fun, I hope the feeling won't be tainted, like the word is. Well, the entire word isn't, obviously, just  the times when people refer to it inside a wrestling ring.

  8. Trapbar day today and well, not exactly great. Starting with deficit lifts, 5x265 and 5x375,5, but then needed to go to floor-level with Versas to get 470 up. OK, so to the blocks it is, then. Just singles from this point onwards until coming back down. 565 and 660 off less than full blocks. Off the full blocks 754 and 786, and without shoes, 848 and 861. Failed the attempt to get another rep with 848 on two occasions, before and after the 861. Then 754 and 4x660, 10x565, 5x470 and 5x375,5. Shrugs with 470 (4 or 5 difficult reps) and a real set with 265.

Started feeling tired as the week progressed, wasn't at my best, but there were some good things in there.

What? Why are you delegating the perfectly acceptable word Fun to all the worst things in wrestling?

Mostly because how he constantly made Michael Cole declare that everybody in the ring just "loved/liked to have fun" in wrestling context it's a Vinceism that I never care to hear again. When Vince was accused of being all molesty with that woman working in a tanning salon, he allegedly said to the woman, once she objected, that he "just wanted to have some fun" so I had that in mind, after all the even worse,  ahem, shit came out.

While never being completely serious when I write on this board and I don't mean that literally, still I don't want to hear "that word" in wrestling context, because I don't want the image of Vince shitting on someone's head in my mind any more than it unfortunately already is.

It's not like Honky Tonk Man was going after Hogan on the reg based on some #1 contender status granted him by the IC belt.

And yet, an Apter mag was pushing an angle that when Honky was briefly in WCW, back in later '94, he was mad at Jimmy Hart (who was with Hogan at the time) that Hart was never trying to get Honky a shot at Hogan's WWF title when Honky was the IC-champion! Obviously, none of this was ever part of on-air storyline, but the kayfabe story was out there at the time.

  11. Adding some more thoughts:

Why do I keep thinking Bon Jovi's "It's My Life" for the past few times Archer's music hits the chorus?

I was kinda fine with the Adam Copeland rah-rah speech. I agree with the sentiment. I did have a problem with the word "fun". Please don't use that in pro wrestling context. "Fun" will forever be all the things Vince made people do, on programming and otherwise. Having a blast or having the time of your life is fine, "fun" should be like saying "Benoit" or "Vince" in pro wrestling context from now on.

Copeland vs Penta should be different.

If Willow beats Julia for the TBS title, only to lose it to Mone, that's probably not great. Maybe Julia will somehow retain, and the big rematch of Willow vs Mone will be saved for later? Then again, there's tons of potential matches for Mone, maybe there's no point in saving it for later, I'm not sure?

  12. Regular bench pyramid today, and I admit it didn't go spectacularly. I started with 8 reps per set and that probably blew me up early. 164, 208, 230 and 241 went alright, but 252 started being pretty ugly towards the end and it did not get better from that point on. 263 and 269 was 4 "reps" each but none of them were clean. Moving back downwards the reps became cleaner again but only got around 4 each set. 12 sets in total, I did a set of standing double bicep curls between each set, ranging from 31's to 48,5's and back down to 22's. Those went pretty well, the bro-split gave me a semi-decent pump at least.

I did think that it has been a really long time since I was able to get the kind of pump going that I actually consider a PUMP. I should try to obtain it before the diet starts. The kind where you can neither bend nor straighten your arms afterwards. That's what I'm looking for!

  13. OK, a few things real quick. Both challenges for Ospreay and Danielson were good stuff! I'm shocked that Hobbs is the one guy in the Callis Family who took the loss to Ospreay very badly. He was also trying to destroy Ospreay in the process! I wonder when Callis sees that Ospreay has outgrown the Family and tries to take him out?

When Trent turned on OC, the look on Chuck's face was that of sadness, but not at all shocked or surprised. Like he knew it was inevitable.

I'll write more when I have the time.

OK, what else... I think Matthew Jackson should be SUED for almost kicking that poor woman!

The way Billy Gunn vs Jay White went, there's no other way for this to go, but for BCG to win (unify?) the Trios Titles.

I see Bucks vs Top Flight finals, but that could go either way. I bet Bucks will win though.

I see you've never been in a sauna while drunk, mister judgmental.

There are times, when you have tons of experience on the issue that is being discussed and at the same time find yourself thinking: "Wait a minute, have I been doing this all wrong somehow? ALL this time?!?"

    In other words, young.

Oh, and @Log I wasn't let go by AEW just now, so this puts the "Shartnado is probably Gravity in a mask" thingy from last year to bed. I'm of course NOT signed by AEW, either but that's a completely different issue altogether.

  16. I went for an 11 set Seal Row pyramid today, from 231 to 352 to 231. 275's went decent, anything heavier, not so much. Plenty of resistance band chest flies between sets and some side delt work. My weight was down to 193 this morning. It is about time I start getting used to feeling hungry again, so it won't come as such a shock in a month's time.

Oh, I forgot that I also did two sets of 15 with 132 reverse grip barbell curls before and after the Seal Row as well as a set of 3 deadlift with the 352.

  17. A 6km run and two short resistance band workouts on Sunday and Monday, respectively.

Back to work and gym today. 3 sets of incline bench dumbell presses and hammer curls with 88's, sets of 7, 8 and 9 on the presses. Curls went a bit better than last time.

A bunch of lighter curls standing, sitting on the incline bench as well as using the bench for preacher curls. Also light pushdowns and lat pull downs to the front with the actual lat pull-down machine. A reduced ab work at the end.
