Cody does big entrances and he wrestles a methodical style but I don't believe his match vs. Dustin or his match vs. Darby Allin veered into "nostalgia pops" or outside interference.  Spears didn't attack Cody until after it was a time limit draw.  The match with Spears was smoke and mirrors because Spears just ain't that great...

Yeah, I would say Cody’s Spears match was closer to his All In match with Nick Aldis than his other AEW matches. Over with the crowd but in need of a lot of Ga-Ga.

Maybe Cody needs to work on simpler entrances between this and the throne spot getting botched live.

Maybe a cool hat. That’ll do the trick.

Reddit guy that broke the Kylie Ray news said the person telling him this pointed to their neck and head as reasons why she's had to retire. It's awful awful awful stuff for her and the division is apparently in flux as a result. They don't have a clear and obvious star, as much as they want Nyla and Baker to be stars they aren't anywhere near good or charismatic enough. Sadly, I don't see any of their current women's competitors as ready to lead a division. They need to gank somebody soon.

Terrible news. I enjoyed her and hope she’s not living in pain. She had likable quality to her.

as for the other women, I’m halfway with you. They don’t have that clear stand out star like the WWE has with some of their talent. But I have high hopes on Baker and Nyla. I think with TV we’ll be able to see personalities more. Maybe someone will stand out. I’m confused by who is full time and who will be part time. Yuka will be a fan favorite but is she only signed for once a month? I could see Jazz being big. Nyla Rose being a monster will probably get her over. Dentists are neat. I haven’t seen too many of any of their promo work so we’ll see who the best talker is. I really like Brandi’s charisma, but I’m still confused by her character. Big Swole has a badass name.

  3. As for the Pharaoh noise moment, I thought it was stupid having the dog near loud noises. But I guess the wrong pyro went off, or an extra one that shouldn’t have went off. Which is better in theory that they didn’t plan to have Pharaoh get scared, but very bad on the production side that unplanned explosions are going off. Very very bad.

  4. Good show. I was surprised that Omega lost, but I find that to be a smart booking. It will make PAC look like a badass going into his feud with a down Hangman. It will also lead to a great Moxley mocking Omega promo. This is all assuming that PAC stays.

I am pro-Jericho right now. I’m a fan of the finish. They’ve really put over the Judas Effect well. After he hit it mid-Hangman-spin looked cool. Plus it got the crowd to stand during the final count. As for Jericho’s drinking, as long as he isn’t a danger to himself or comes to work drunk, I don’t see an issue. His deranged rockstar look is perfect for his character. If he had scarf body I don’t know if all this would work. Grizzled veteran dick is a good look on him. That blade job looked great to over the one side of his face.

I’m also pro-Hangman. Simply the horse entrance. No more needs to be said. I’m playing Red Dead II finally. Horse-Bandana combo is cool. Hangman is cool.

Shawn Spears has such a cool entrance too. The loss was big. Is he just going to become a midcard weasel? I’m fine with that. Him and Tully start a faction? I’m fine with that. Kind of a wait and see situation.

    Arrrrrrrrrn!

Ladder match was full of zingers. I’m happy the Lucha Bros won. Young Bucks won’t lose any luster with their fan base going into this tournament and now the Lucha Bros look legit top tag team.

I’m still on the fence to the Evil Order. TV should help them. Hopefully.

Best Friends hug camera moment is the best. Friendship is a good thing.

Orange Cassidy is great. I liked that he ran. I’m not sure if half of his stuff will translate, but I think the essence of his character could really go over huge.

Riho vs Nyla Rose will be a banger monster vs underdog. Glad that is the match up and you could still build the potential Dr Brit Baker vs Bea Priestley and hopefully Aja Kong vs Awesome Kong.

Jungle Squad is a great group. Reminds me somehow of a more cartoony version of HurriKane. Marko Stunt is great in these spots. I like that Jungle Boy still comes out on Luchasauras’s shoulders. Marko Stunt running around his legs makes him look so massive. I just want to hug them all.

Thumbtack mouth was nuts. That whole match was nuts. Cracker Barrel being cool with everything and posting on Twitter was nuts. The diving barrel spot was nuts. Everything was nuts. Everyone wins. The racket spot made me laugh. Petty, but in a good they got beef way and not as losery as the random F Cornette into the camera spot. All the characters just mesh so well to be in a high school lunch room fight. Angry Skoad Goth, Cute-Misunderstood Skater Punk, and Dirty Party-Bro Trash. Death Metal vs Crust Punk vs Dave Matthews Band. So great.

  5. Feeling Cute, might delete later.

    1. Daniel Bryan - His ROH run as champion was my first true experience buying into a “Best in the World” Ace-type figure. He was the man and I really bought into his style. I really started getting infatuated with slower paced movies and compared to what I knew at the time, Bryan Danielson was like the Tarkovsky of Wrestling. Now fast forward to his WWE career. Sadly, I wasn’t in a good place in life and didn’t watch too much wrestling. So I missed a good chunk of the Yes! movement. But Revisiting it all, how cool has his ride been. His return match had a bit too much Shane, but I still had such chills. Turning him Heel I thought his eco-warrior gimmick was going to be so stupid, but he is so charismatic that he is my favorite thing to watch right now.

    2. Mic Foley - All versions of him pump me up. Greatest promos, especially as different characters. Hell in a Cell vs The Undertaker is a Top 5 match for me. Mic could be so sympathetic while also being terrifyingly ruthless. Plus, I’m an instant he could add a touch of comedy.

    3. The Rock - As an 8 year old he would get me so excited that I would run around the house.

    4. Kenta Kobashi - I like chops. It’s fun to watch him go from Misawa’s partner diving on top of him to protect him to becoming the old ace chopping the heck out of people. Such a fun journey. I really enjoy his NOAH work.

    5. Stan Hansen - @Oyaji‘s List eloquently says how Hansen is a badass better than I could.

    6. Ric Flair - The showmanship of Flair was so great, and yet his bits and signatures wouldn’t get in the way of his matches. Maybe the GOAT. I wasn’t a WCW kid growing up, so I didn’t watch much of his late 90’s work. But going through his NWA and early WCW work was a treat. It was clear to see how special he was. I was also big on his Evolution role.

    7. Toshiaki Kawada / Mitsuharu Misawa - Yes, it’s a cop out for me to say both in a spot, but I feel they go so hand in hand that I can cheat with this. They worked so well together. It’s a type of wrestling a really love, which is a struggle to build off each other’s moves and letting everything look like it was earned. Kawada being such a rebellious badass trying to overcome the stoic Ace, Misawa.

    8. Terry Funk - My dude @Oyaji‘s List again states Terry Funk perfectly.

    9. Jushin Liger - Best mask in wrestling. My favorite junior. A total legend.

    10. Roddy Piper - A complete POS. He could rile any crowd up. Someone crazy enough to pull hair or bite and not look like a wimpy heel. Just an abrasive ass.

That was a tough one. I look at a list like this as being “Favorite” is different than a historic GOAT list. These are guys that got me to fist pump over the years.

Perhaps Santana and Ortiz will benefit from losing that weak acronym.

If they come to AEW I wonder what video game they’ll be named after.

    Mushroom Kingdom Killahz?!

  7. 1994 Dustin Rhodes vs Modern Dustin Rhodes

Tables match: 1987 Bret Hart & Jim Neidhart vs 2000 The Dudley Boyz

2006 Bryan Danielson vs Hall of Pain Mark Henry

Shoot: Angriest Harley Race vs Angriest Haku

1996 Stone Cold Steve Austin vs 1989 Terry Funk

Prime Gorgeous George vs 1981 Jerry Lawler

2005 The Undertaker vs 1989 Ric Flair

1984 Hulk Hogan, Rikidozan, and El Santo vs 1981 Andre the Giant, 1985 Rowdy Roddy Piper, and 2002 The Rock (team managed by three different time period Bobby Heenans).
