I was just thinking ... is there anything stopping Punk from showing up in WWE with the AEW "Real World title" belt with the X on it?

    It's in his fridge, right?

They can’t legally stop him from bringing out a fridge on a dolly to the ring every week.

”You all know what’s in there, and there’s no one in either company man enough to take it from me.”

I’ll believe Rock/Roman is happening when the match is in the ring.

Mania season is going to be right around the time Hollywood really starts ramping up production after the strike is over. Dwayne is going to have a lot of options to make a lot of money without needing to work a wrestling match.

The blockbuster wave is cresting and we’re starting to see him sweat a bit. Everything on his slate right now is a step away from development hell or desperation moves like the Fast return and the live action Moana. One of those will probably help him course correct, but if there was ever a point since his last match where he would need the media attention of a Wrestlemania run it’s now.

  3. One of my favorites from the last decade is Karyn Kusama’s The Invitation (2015, not the more recent movie of the same name.) It’s creepy and deals with some heavy subject matter, but I wouldn’t go so far as to call it bleak. It’s on Tubi and Pluto.

I like the new Screams quite a bit too. I’m sure they’re both on Paramount.

  4. Honkytonk Man could’ve easily been one of those WCW cases where he slips through the cracks and gets paid stupid money to work a handful of C-shows a year, or even just sits at home and hopes no one notices he’s still on payroll. Instead he irritated Bischoff and burned his bridge with Hogan by trying to do business like it was 1987. He never even got signed to a proper contract at a time when anyone who’d worked for Titan in the past decade was almost guaranteed a deal. Knowing your worth goes both ways.

why they didn't have her do favours for more than just Statlander? Willow and Athena both come to mind of wrestlers who could've used a big win over an exiting Jade.

It’s unfortunate Red Velvet has been plagued with injuries because her beating Jade is a Finish the Story if I’ve ever seen one.

  6. I think the only missed opportunity is that Jade and Mercedes Mone are going to pass each other like ships in the night. That could’ve been a good program. Or Mercedes might’ve gotten seriously hurt trying to make it good, so maybe it’s for the best.

  7. The International title match was pretty good, but Andretti’s work is the epitome of “just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.” His strikes look so much better than his high risk stuff. Even when he connects with his opponent none of it looks impactful, and Mox was throwing himself into most of it because Andretti was going to miss him.

  8. Danielson loves to put himself in creative boxes so he can figure his way out. Working around physical limitations as he ages sounds like the kind of challenge he’d love, so I have a hard time believing it’ll be anything more than a Foley retirement where you can expect to see him work somewhere a few times a year.

Was it his last match in Amarillo? Do we have tape on Dory Jr v RVD

Van Dam has to slow down a bit, but Dory takes almost all of the RVD spots and there’s very little down time. They get too ambitious and RVD goes for a dive where Dory doesn’t catch him, but for what it is it’s not bad. I had to turn the sound down because of Alfonso, but it’s 90s RVD, so I guess that goes without saying.

  10. There’s actually a (slightly) more serious version of that premise in a No Sleep story calledVermin. It’s never been easier for amateurish productions to make something that looks fairly polished, so it’s impressive how shitty that looks.

  11. AMC’s primary concern seemed to be pumping out episodes for syndication deals while reining in the budgets as much as possible. So the walkers get noticeably less cool as it goes on, the characters are always playing grabass in the woods to avoid building sets or real locations, and there are a lot of unnecessary navel gazing bottle episodes built around one or two of the main characters so they don’t have to pay the other actors for that week.

Another question. Does anybody still watch the Walking Dead spinoffs anymore -- around here, at least? And if you did, when did you bug out?

I cut out early on the original series around season 3, but my wife stuck with it for a long time, and when she did a rewatch I caught up with it. I liked the season where they do the time jump with the Whisperers and the final season was okay. So we did Fear the Walking Dead, and even though it has like a season and a half of decent material we’ve watched all 8 this year.

So then we did the other one about the kids traveling across the country, and I can’t even remember what it was called, but it was okay. I was hoping that Dead City would be more focused and have better production value than most of the other series since it’s a shorter season, but nope. Kind of sucked.

Anyway, I went from not watching any of the franchise for a decade to becoming a completionist this year, and I’m sure I’ll be watching the Daryl show with my wife. I guess our idea of quality time is just watching it and bitching about it.
