  1. The most legit people covering the sport didn't say anything for like 2 1/2 hours. ESPN waited a grand total of like 15 minutes.
  2. Anyway, Iole put up something saying that Sholler is flying back to Vegas. He was in Chicago for the Blackhawks game.
  3. If ESPN is taking it as gospel truth with nothing firm to stand on, then it worked.
  4. From the interview he did with Helwani, Rumble wasn't going to take the Jones fight whether he had a dental procedure or not. He wants to fight for the real belt, even though you can definitely argue that if Jones' interim belt is more legit than Cormier's belt. Considering the common opponent between Teixiera and Rumble, I would assume AJ knows that fight isn't that much of a risk.
  5. I think Paddy Holohan may have exposed the troll job.
  6. Hopefully, we find out that detail in This Ain't the Power Rangers XXX. That is where the picture is from, correct?
  7. Actually, the art department just did the switcheroo with the original poster, replacing Cormier with Jon and replacing Jon with OSP.
  8. Based on some evidence laying around now and interviews, it seems like UFC 205 could be the biggest PPV and event in UFC and MMA history (breaking whatever records 200 breaks). You got: - Rousey's return vs. the winner of Tate/Nunes (which Dana stands firm on even though he would be fine with Tate squeezing another title defense in if she's healthy) - Cormier/Jones II (if Cormier plays ball and waits until November instead of September/October) - Khabib Nurmagomedov challenging the winner of RDA/Alvarez - A potential rubber match between Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman should Weidman prevail in Los Angeles. The winner could also fight the winner of Jacare/Belfort or Yoel Romero - GSP's return in a potential superfight or a title fight against the winner of Lawler/Woodley We ain't even talked about possible breakout fights for local, rising fighters like Aljamain Sterling, Jimmie Rivera, Al Iaquinta, or Chris Wade. Even throw Lyman Good in there since TSMMA guys sell plenty of tickets. It seems like less of a hassle with timing for this show because they can mix and match and still come up with a surefire candidate for event of the year.
  9. Nate Parker did a very powerful interview with Vulture around the time it premiered at Sundance. He goes into why he decided to use that title.
  10. Based on what was just posted on MMA Junkie, it seems like both the UFC and Rose want to wait before any talk of a title shot. While I believe that is smart on Nanajunas' part since it's clear who the #1 and #2 strawweights are (the actual order is going be decided on 7/8), it does put the actual division in a bind. Does Esparza get another crack at the belt beating Ju Thai this week? Do they throw Moroz in there since she has a win over someone credible and also actual TV exposure? Either way, whoever is next needs at least a solid win between now and late summer to challenge for the belt. Whether it's for a title or not, I believe Rose and Tecia need to be scheduled for five rounds if they ever do a third fight.

  13. I would imagine it varies fighter by fighter. I saw a story where Amir Khan was training at midnight for a potential fight in September. However, for the most part, he never schedules a fight for that time of year. I would imagine it would be tougher to do in MMA.
  14. Kinda crazy that if Khabib decided not to take the Horcher fight and then observe Ramadan before coming back in the fall, he would have been out of action for 2 and a 1/2 years. If the UFC can figure out a way to remake the Ferguson fight before June 7, that would be awesome.
  15. I think that would be the move to make, but at this point after being thrown around a few times, it would seem like a fruitless endeavor. Machida did it when he was younger and at a much different stage of his career. Rashad is now really on the wrong side of 30. Even though he is the same age of Glover, Glover hasn't had the litany of injuries and setbacks as Rashad including the tough fights. We're now almost half a decade away from Rashad being in peak form. It would be asking a whole lot for him to drop down in weight and also somehow figure out a way to get up there to compete with the likes a Luke Rockhold, a Chris Weidman, or a Ronaldo Souza. A fight with Yoel Romero would just be an absolute nightmare for him in my opinion. Plus, I think someone like Vitor would clip him before the end of the first. So if the best he can do is beat middle of the pack middleweights, he might as well keep the 20 pounds on and beat middle of the pack light heavyweights.
  16. Dana said he likes the idea of Teixeira vs. Rumble. On Twitter, seems like Rumble is up for it. It would make sense to make that the main event for the July show in Chicago.
  17. I don't think Rashad would leave unless he got really desperate or hard up for money. He wants to compete with the best in the world. The problem is his body isn't responding like it use to. I think a four or five years ago, he would have bodied somebody like Ryan Bader. I also think the fight with Glover would've been competitive and went 2-3 rounds before anything decisive happened. When you lose a few steps, fights like those are so easy to look bad in. It also doesn't help he is on the smaller side of 205.
  18. Errol Spence just absolutely smoked Chris Algieri.
  19. Totally agree that's a tremendous step up. I think it has all the makings to be one of the best strawweight fights ever stylewise. However, she can't afford to fight like she did against Torres at certain points especially the middle of round 1 and the majority of round 3. That would play right into the hands of Joanna. I didn't expect Tecia to clip her like that. Against Joanna, that would be curtains. Rose has to fight like she did early on in the second round and use her jab effectively.
  20. Had a feeling Rashad was going to get clipped by a huge punch. He was doing fine, but you could tell he was a step slower when it mattered.
  21. Guessing this win puts Rose at the front to challenge the winner of Joanna vs. Claudia.
