  1. Really looking forward to El Pantera vs. Fili. Could be a breakout performance for either fighter. It's interesting that Fili is one of the last remaining Alpha Male fighters now that Buchholz is the head coach. I wonder if that plays a tremendous role in Fili's performance. Definitely looking forward to Pettis vs. Barboza. If there was any fight where Pettis can go all out, this would be the one. However, he shouldn't underestimate Barboza at all. When you're up against another fighter who throws exotic techniques, the last place you want to find yourself is on the wrong end of a counter. Glad to see James Vick back. He can enter the fold at lightweight if he stays healthy. I expect Whittaker and Danny Roberts to shine tonight. Steele had a badass slam finish against the "other" Dong Hyun Kim, but Roberts is the better, more polished fighter overall. Sapo is tough and underrated, but I think Whittaker runs through him. Probably gets a convincing (T)KO stoppage. Lee should bounce back against Escudero. Should be a solid 30-27 decision. Marcos Pezao vs. Hester shouldn't last long. Hester is slowly becoming another OSP, but with a smaller gas tank. This fight could go one of two ways in my opinion. Hester puts heavy activity on Pezao early and causes him to cave. The second way being Pezao knocking him out within 3 or 4 minutes. Any thoughts on the main event? My head says Jones feels him out for a few minutes and subs him inside of a round and a half.
  2. He's fighting Fernando Gonzalez on the London show. That would be his first halfway decent opponent since Nah-shon Burrell awhile back.
  3. Kikuno is a fun throwback fighter, but his style was too easy to exploit for anyone above average. It didn't really fit in modern UFC. However, he did get have a nice little run in the UFC unlike some of his counterparts.
  4. Randa Markos vs. Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger has been added to the Ottawa card.
  5. I am more interested in the contract situation of Will Brooks. I think he can hold his own with the best in his weight class.
  6. ..Except if he didn't falsely retired on Twitter, he would have done no press at all. It's meaningless now because they weren't going to allow him to do it anyway. They already had the film crew in Vegas to shoot the commercial. They decided if he didn't want to go to Vegas, he didn't have to come. Thus, he was taken off the card. Keep in mind, Conor lost a big payday too. He could've perhaps had 3 or possibly 4 of them this calendar year. If he fights in September or October, it will only be two.
  7. Hopefully, for whatever event he fights at next, he will be up for showing up for those press conferences.
  8. Yeah, he hasn't made the company 400 million in 8 months. Cliff notes on the presser: - Claudia may or may not have told Joanna to fist herself. - Conor is definitely off UFC 200. Nate may or may not be off. - Cain Velasquez should work on his standup routine. - DC vs. JBJ II looks like the new main event for 200 should Jones emerge victorious tomorrow night.
  9. DeReese doesn't look like a bad fighter. Just got a raw deal when it came to that matchup. He could have probably beaten 3 dudes that made it in. Rountree ain't the type of dude you want to be facing on zero notice.
  10. After checking, Rumble opened between +235 and +245 once Jon beat Cormier at UFC 182. For UFC 197, Cormier opened at +260 for the rematch.
  11. Rumble actually could have knocked Cormier out. Cormier really didn't put Jones in any danger. I think the Vegas betting lines would give a Rumble a better shot against Jon than DC in the rematch. I mean Rumble absolutely torched Gus, but Gus gave both DC and Jon plenty of trouble (even though Jon didn't take that fight seriously).
  12. With Phil Hawes not making it into the house, safe to say Khalil Rountree is the fighter to watch. What a brutal ending.
  13. Well, the movie started at Touchstone before it went to Paramount. Scarlett has the Disney connection I guess. But yeah, Rinko is right there.
