Yea, I'm not sure if TK is just worried about FTR "outshining" Jurassic Express, but it seems to me like there are any number of good transitional champion options aside from the Young Bucks (if they were to win the titles tonight) to get the titles on FTR within the next 3-4 weeks. The Gunn Club, for example, aren't world-class wrestlers, but man are they getting great heat right now.

With the Christian/Jungle Boy stuff going on, you have an easy "out" for the Express to lose the titles in a screwy fashion to Gunn Club (or Team Taz) and then for that team to drop the titles to FTR on a big TV show. Then, at the next PPV, FTR can defend the titles against Jurassic Express or the Young Bucks or Team Taz or whoever. I hate to use the word "pussyfooting" but it seems like TK is pussyfooting around the inevitable for no good reason. The Express have had a good, respectable run, but its a run that has run its course (see what I did there?).

They had a three-way at the PPV, with all that build of Christian and Jungle Boy. They could easily have protected JE by having either Starks/Hobbs or Swerve in the Glory win by pinning the other, non JE team. Everything over the last couple months was pointing that direction. But no...

  2. And while I certainly enjoy Dax Harwood matches as a singles wrestler, and realize this is a traditional way to build to a match at a PPV, it seems like AEW is treading water right now with FTR when it's clear they should be Top Guys in belts as well as in name.

I got it from there too based off his recommendation.  I thought it was good but I'll take a cheesesteak any day.  And I tried subs with smoked provalone around here and agree that the cheese isn't for me.

As for traveling to Baltimore (which I know you know of) they're known for crab cakes.  I've been a sucker for Jimmy's Seafood but they were also a mile away from us for five years.  But there's multiple places in and around Baltimore that have a darn good crab cake.  And if you're up for digging for gold then steamed crabs are a must.

    What about pit beef?

I was in Philly for work (my company's HQ is there) and I'd seen an episode of Delicious Destinations where they said forget cheesesteaks...Tony Dinic's roast pork sub at the Reading Terminal Market  is where it's at.  I got one and it was disgusting.  It was probably the "smoked provalone," which is a funny way to spell "cheese that smells like vomit and tastes even worse."  I threw it in the trash, went back to the market, and got a pile of grub from the soul food buffet instead.  Fuck you Andrew Zimmern!

South Philly Barbacoa is the place I want to go. Saw it on I think Chef's Table BBQ, and the owner/chef just won a James Beard award for best chef in the region. Just a hole in the wall place making perfect barbacoa tacos.

  5. Well, Austin is known for oak-smoked brisket and Central Texas style BBQ in general. San Antonio is famous for the puffy taco. Houston has everything but it’s allegedly where beef fajitas were invented. Dallas is where every fast casual chain restaurant started.

Now I will say that since the image is huge - FOR THE LOVE GOD - make sure to use the spoiler box if you decide to post them on the board

Yeah. sorry about that, will do! I'll also try and size them down for any future posting!

The reason is - and my old age forgot this - is that members can't upload/use the attach feature. Only mods and admins can

This is mainly due to limit board size and due to some other factors (which you can probably figure out on your own)

It is why myself, Dolfan and Kevin (as mod) could do it

We are working on trying to decide on a happy medium that wont nuke the board

That's cool because I wanted to upload a photo or two from when I was at the AEW show in March, but couldn't make the board link to my Flickr.

  9. Discovered yesterday that I actually get AXS on my DirecTV (redid the favorites a couple years ago and didn’t include it and promptly forgot it), and discovered today that I can watch the last few episodes of NJPW World on demand for free, so I’m going to familiarize myself with some of these names in the next couple of weeks before the PPV. Last time I saw any NJPW was the height of Omega and the Bucks a few years ago.

  10. I agree with @NoFistsJustFlipsthat there were a few too many near fall kick outs in Stat-Red, in particular the one mentioned following the pendulum German and followup move. That was a killer combo that should not be kicked out of, finisher be damned.

what could be interesting for Stat would be to do a promo or interview where she leans into being the biggest, strongest woman in the division. Just says “I realized one day that I’m bigger than all the other women in AEW, I’m stronger than all the other women in AEW, and now it’s time to use that to prove I’m BETTER than all the other women in AEW”

  11. Main event was great, I expected Trent to be in there to eat the pin so was pleasantly shocked when he got the win! I think they’re building to someone like a 10-man or even 12-man at Forbidden Door with UE vs. FTR, Roppongi Vice, and...is Orange Cassidy healed? Maybe some Chaos guys?
also when did FTR lose the AAA belts?

I think Stat-Velvet was my match of the night. When it started, I was actually fine with Stat squashing, then it turned into a fire competitive match with Stat wrestling like a giant. She needs a singles belt. Anna Jay doing a run-in against 2 baddies and putting on the Queenslayer...bless her heart. I hate that move, it doesn’t look like a convincing submission anyway and then to use that on a run-in. Someone help her develop some kind of big strike or kick.

Singh hitting 3 big moves while squashing local enhancement is a good use for him right now.

I enjoyed the opener, I do agree that maybe Eddie is a little too giving. I already shared my opinion on Hager, but he ate a clean pin so that was good.

The Hookhausen segment was good stuff. I need Hook’s ride for my work, although I’d want the cab enclosed with heat and AC. Those things get hot riding around Texas scrub country in 100 degree heat.

This is Hager's first singles match since the cage fight vs Wardlow almost exactly a year ago. Not that anyone's clamoring for more. Keeping Hager hidden in multiman matches and occasionally using him as a "big" win for someone is probably the best way to book him.

He did nothing for me and there are a dozen big men in AEW who are more talented. That said, the match was a decent brawl.

Cincy, Houston and UCF have come to an exit agreement with the AAC and will now join the Big 12 on July 1, 2023

18 million each for exit fees, paid off over 14 years. They'll make that much extra in the Big 12 in the 2 years of the current TV deal and GOR, assuming that the networks don't try and cut their payments when UT and OU leave (which may be as early as next year).

  14. There was a lot of young talent with a mix of high flyers like Three Count , Jung Dragons, AJ Styles, Air Paris, and Chris Daniels, and bigger guys like Jindrak, O'Haire, and Palumbo. Then you had guys like Scott Steiner, Booker T, and Kanyon who were established vets who shined when actually allowed to wrestle to their abilities.

    Japanese Lardilization CONTINUES!

It’s weird seeing Waterburger outside of Texas (since I don’t think Lard Lad is in the Lone Star state today). I’m a fan, my go-to is the Whatachicken strips or bites with cream gravy. Comes with a buttery piece of Texas toast and a mess of fries. Get some spicy ketchup and some regular ketchup (the best fast food ketchup). Wash it down with a Diet Dr. Pepper to keep the calorie count under 1500.

I’m excited to see Jake Hager in a singles match, and excited for Eddie to beat the shit out of him. Don’t really know what to expect from the rest of the card. Won’t be drunk and surly though as I’m on antibiotics and tomorrow is only day 2.5.

Finally starting to read Octavia Butler's Xenogenesis trilogy. Yes, I am way behind.

They're out there, I liked them but didn't love them like I did Kindred and the Parable books.

Also, if you didn't know, they're making an Amazon series "Wild Seed" with Viola Davis involved, and Nnedi Okorafor co-writing the pilot script (and I think more)
