Ah, Caprice said that during the main event towards the beginning cause the crowd was tired. That show was hot from the pre show on. Eventually any crowd is going to get burnt out for a bit. It was a shame that it was the Women's title match where they had to work their assess off to get ALL THOSE DUDES in the crowd back alive, was put in the death slot. But who cares? That show fucking ruled!

That crowd cared more about Serena Deeb than every one of her AEW television appearances in the last 6 months combined.

William Regal can do it all: face, heel, promos, commentator, authority figure, comedy, seriousness, manager. WWE were so fucking stupid to release William Regal. When Regal's available, he's an immediate hire.

Yeah, you should be paying him for what he brings with his talent and wealth of knowledge but if not that you at least pay him to keep him from working for your competition.

Respect to Chris Jericho and Eddie Kingston putting themselves through that. I felt it was too rushed and the wrong guy won. It reminded me of the effort Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley went through in their exploding barbed wire death match at Revolution 2021 which was overshadowed by shit explosions.

I almost mentioned in my post-show comments that it looked like Jericho had a broken nose. Guess now we know he did, and how it happened.

Anything from Eddie yet on his hand?

  4. Today while doing fieldwork we had to cross a very high barbed wire fence to go back and forth to the truck (for cold water); either climb up about 4 feet and over, or belly crawl under. Obviously, I was thinking about yesterday when I was slithering under and started getting my safety vest hooked. Then later one of my co-workers joked they were just going to run really hard and try to bust through, which was when I told them that I had watched a barbed wire wrestling match the night before.

There are also electric fences there, so almost like an exploding ropes match.

Just found out that here in India, Dark and Elevation are shown on television, on the Eurosport channel. Pretty cool!

To pad out the hour for this past Elevation, at the end of the hour they tacked on Anna Jay vs Jade from an old Rampage and the Jericho/Ortiz hair vs hair match.

I recall that Jay-Jade match being unexpectedly good, like maybe the first good Jade match.

If they are going to multiple babyfaces vs tayjay, who do they put with ruby who's not already tied in an angle?  Skye Blue?

I like Skye Blue because I would like to see her elevated more.

My wild idea, if she's recovered from her injury, is Bunny. Ruby, rather than looking for help from a face, decides that what she needs is someone crazy, vicious, and hates TayJay. Hell, play up the mercenary aspect for added explanation.

  7. Last thought before I log off:

Discovery exec : Hey Tony, how about some synergy?

Tony: "Hell yeah, how about a shark cage above the ring?"

Discovery exec: "Umm, sure, we were thinking more like shark fin hats and a shark mascot on screen"

Tony: "No problem! I'm all about synergy with our new partners! What about having some wrestlers do Shark Week promos?"

    Discovery exec: "You got it"

picks up the phone and calls the only wrestler he's ever heard of:

"Hey Rock, we want a wrestler hosting Shark Week"

I thought it was a great show but that main pissed me off. Haven't been in the best mood for a myriad of reasons but do you really have to do Eddie like that? It doesn't make any sense, despite my mood or partisanship. Just do the favor and give Eddie the win and do the Sammy crap after.

Fuck it, give Sammy and Tay 100k and 3 months off for a honeymoon.

  9. Yeah, that barbed wire match started strong and turned pretty bad, maybe Eddie got hurt, definitely just incredibly overbooked. Give him his fucking win already. Also, shocked Eddie managed to avoid a crimson mask. Saw the Anna Jay turn a mile away.

    Good things:

The opening tag was a good match with a good story.

    FTR promo.

    Cake in the face.

Women's tag match was very good.

Darby-Brody. Like I said elsewhere, it was like the big dickhead bouncer at a big punk show versus all the kids trying to stagedive. I'm not sure how that finished didn't break Darby's neck, I think he's made of rubberbands.

    Bad things:

Too stuffed, felt very "Crash TV", so many backstage segments.

Ready for RoH to be its own thing so they don't get so much AEW TV.

A "famous" rapper KOing Tony Nese. Felt very late-90s WCW in a bad way.

Ricky Starks having a competitive match against some generic dude with no build-up. Stop the open challenges if they're not going to advance angles and feature under-utilized talent.

The Luchasaurus un-turn. WTF, so soon, just when things were getting mildly interesting.

Looking forward to Dante-Moriarty on Friday.

  10. I’m late but I finally caught up with last week. I found the Shota-PAC match to be plodding and boring. Even when they got to the heat at the end, just couldn’t care.

I did like Dante-Comoroto, but it wasn’t as good as Dante-Drake. Enjoyed the Willow match too.

Last thought, they really should have added some crowd noise, that studio audience was so dead it detracted from the action.

  11. So, high likelihood that there will be some sort of Pac-Big 12 merger, with some schools being left out. Arizona schools for sure, I'd bet Utah and Colorado as well. Wouldn't expect it to be all of the new Big 12 either.

just got back from this movie. loved every bit of it. i'd say a step down from Ragnarok, but that movie was crazy awesome so i'm not surprised.

i'm a big GNR fan so i dug the music being so featured.

was hoping for more from the GOTG, but i can't be too upset since they have both a holuday special and vol. 3 upcoming.

Gorr was an amazing villain. Bale did a fantastic job.

    the screaming goats were hilarious.

re: Axl / Astrid, i didn't pick up on it being a trans naming issue. if that's the case then great, but as someone who has legally changed my name, it was reminiscent of numerous conversations i've had. i would imagine it was left ambiguous on purpose. YMMV.

I saw on Saturday and I agree with you. I'm perfectly fine if they just let Taika have his own little Thor part of the MCU, and they can always call Thor back into the greater storyline down the road if they need to, ala Captain Marvel.

I had fun. I laughed a lot. I cried a little. I enjoyed a very talented actor playing a complicated villain, similar to MBJ and Killmonger. I was a little annoyed that they once again sacrificed the woman, but the Valhalla bit at the end was some redemption.

I really hope the Moriarty/Dante match ends with both of them turning on Sydal and joining Stokely. The Lio/Dante team was too good for this world, but I'd definitely take this as a consolation. I'd love to see them heel their way up the ladder until Keith Lee pounces Dante into a parallel universe.

Ohhh, I like this idea a lot! Except I would have Dante leapfrog the pounce.
