  1. Guy folds under pressure but is in an offense that will pick you apart given time, and we play prevent. But the 3 straight runs at the goal line with an extra Jumbo package was the killer.
  2. Can’t believe I forgot the amazing Danhausen Halloween III tribute! I need a shirt with the 3 faces and “very very very nice” on front and “very evil” with scary face on back.
  3. Rampage was ok, more setting up angles for matches that are already booked and advancing storylines, and that’s ok and often needed. I was not happy about Garcia taking the pin but then they followed it up in a good way that made sense. BCC tag was a sop to the crowd but who can complain about the giant swing and the fastball special? Lucha 4-way was good, basically nothing but bombs. Eddie saying “like a kitty cat” sent me, funniest random thing since Nyla’s “I love cake...and violence!” Whoever said this was something that would have blown our minds in 1996 but these days is just a thing was right. The Dorado-Komander top rope double spot was wild and innovative as hell. Main was kind of a slog to me. As others said, it was such a foregone conclusion that it was hard to really get into it. Got across a story about Stat being powerful and finally getting Nyla up, and enough damage to Shida to safely take a fall next Tuesday. Collision and Title Tuesday look loaded.
  4. Just caught up on Dynamite. I thought it was pretty good to great overall, even with all the promos. Fenix-Nick Jackson was a performance (instead of a fight) and felt like a rerun. I love the fact that they’re already hinting at running OC back against Mox. Wardlow squash was a surprise and that’s about it. They had something hot and blew it, but maybe they’ll save it with long-term storytelling. The Acclaimed match didn’t even keep my attention, such a foregone conclusion. I’m not sure how they can do it, but they need to have them lose the trios belts and get back into the super-competitive tag team division and have some good matches again. Speaking of tag matches, I’m another odd-person out because I thought that match was fucking great. Takeshita finally got to cut loose a bit, I’m a big fan of Fletcher and they really got him over in defeat. I know Kenny isn’t old but there was a very good “young but experienced guys versus grizzled vets” storyline they really leaned into. Post-match went too long and had some birches but glad to see Hobbs get a shot at being elevated. I called Toni and Skye having a very good match due to their previous encounters, and this had the bonus of a lot of character work and storytelling. I personally loved the “and now a word from our sponsors” bit, and remember that it didn’t immediately cut to commercial so we got the “how about a titty slap” bit complete with a massive chop. Skye was less bubbly (other than her, well) and more aggressive. They might almost be able to pull off another Julia Hart storyline with her. The rest was talk, almost all of which hit for me. The Copeland intro with Kenny and the “edge” joke. The sheer camp of the Cole-Neck Strong posse. The sheer brilliance of Timeless Toni Storm. Juice rightly calling out how corny and stilted the “tofu” promo was, his Jack Black energy, and Jay White leaving MJF laying. Orange Cassidy getting across how awkward it is for him to really care about something (that being the International Title) and Hook’s encouragement (just wish Renee had taken a chip). Copeland’s promo was great, named a ton of potential interesting matches, and then addressed the elephant in the room. Even greater was Christian, seething that his “best friend” was there to upstage him again when he’s finally having his moment. I’m hoping for a good time, not a long time, but I will definitely mark out a lot when they finally settle their differences and have one last tag run before passing the torch. I hear everyone loves The Acclaimed...
  5. They had some good matches on the house show circuit so this should be a good one.
  6. Have we gotten any injury updates post-WrestleDream? I guess Fenix wasn't serious/was mostly worked.
  7. Last Red River Showdown in the Big 12. Not sure the last time both Texas and 0U were undefeated going into the game, but I'd guess it's been a decade or more.
  8. More thoughts later but I'm excited to see what @Matt Dthinks about that Swerve-Page match given that he's not a fan of either. It's been quite a while since I saw a match and wondered how much of it was shoot, but last night Claudio and Bartnett were throwing taters and having moments of grappling that felt very "we are legitimately fighting each other for grip and positioning"
  9. Alrighty, I downloaded the Bleacher Report app this morning and just bought the PPV, starting out with the super random 8-person match. Gonna be up late now I’m on eastern time again.
  10. Rampage was excellent, I think every match other than the squash was better than anything on Dynamite. The trios match in particular was a lot of fun, Bowens and Zay paired up really well and I was thinking that they could be a fun tag team if Caster were to get hurt. Always enjoy seeing Rocky Romero and that was a great match that really got Eddie over more. The PPV match against Shibata not being Pure rules will be interesting, but also allows Eddie to get a clean win. Dutch did two more killer Bossman slams so that was cool. The main took a while but finished really strong. Someday Ruby is going to get a big win. I don’t know why she decided to go for a pin when she had literally just seen the ref get knocked out of the ring. One note: talking about Shida being a top striker while she’s doing her terrible corner punches was a bad choice.
  11. And his entrance music can be Eric B and Rakim “Juice (Know the Ledge)”
  12. I assume this is 2022 right, I haven’t watched the E for a long time but I know Mox and Danielson were still big there in the last few years.
  13. I think I was so cranky from Wednesday's episode because for some reason I couldn't use the sweet, sweet FFWD button during my delayed live watch on YouTube TV so I had to sit through lots of crap I normally skip.
  14. They did but I don't remember what it was. I think Eddie vs. Rocky Romero? They're dojng a "road to Wrestle Dream" afterwards too.
  15. Actually, Kellen Mond is the only QB under Jimbo to make it through a full season dating back to FSU and Deondre Francois taking a beating.
  16. OK, what could be interesting is if Swifties start calling out the Chop and the team name.
  17. I apparently turned the show off too early, but on the other hand they hadn't really done much to hold my attention. With the Bucks and Lucha Bros, there was more thigh-slapping than the crowd at a Blue Collar Comedy tour show. Seriously, I'm tired of the Bucks, I'm tired of the Lucha Bros. Fenix-Jarrett was a lot of Memphis that didn't really work for me last night, and Fenix whiffed a corner kick by a solid foot. Claudio-Brian Cage was interesting and fun. Superkick spam was not, although I will say that having a huge dude like Cage meant that Jackson could land some flip moves more solidly. The four-way was so overbooked and focused on Penta to Poochie levels. The Cole-MJF skit was fun. The live mic stuff was not, and then MJF spent something like 45 minutes having to explain his "sick burns" on Jay White. I thought White more than held his own and his work had a point: triggering Max's insecurities. I said it before, but the "He's our scumbag" has the potential to turn Hoganesque in a not good way. Julia-Willow was almost default MOTN by being a straight wrestling match that wasn't overbooked. Julia being able to hit a very good, very solid moonsault because of Willow being a larger opponent helped. Lots of people on Bluesky want a Willow-Brody King match. I don't. Having a contract signing main event didn't work this time.
  18. Funny you mentioned that because it all happened on ROH where no one gave much of a crap and has now just been ignored on AEW TV.
  19. I guess I shouldn't be surprised gimmicks ripping off 18-year old Rob Zombie movies inspired by '70s hillbilly horror are still a thing in wrestling, where Nu-Metal thrives as if it's still 1999. Dutch has a very good Bossman slam. Vincent does well at putting off "not allowed within 500 feet of high school" vibes, I'll give him that.
  20. I was just fixing to tell about the time my friend and I snuck 40s into a movie and when he was finished he accidentally dropped it and it bounced/rolled all the way to the front while we desperately tried to stifle laughter.
  21. Also, I agree that Julia has improved drastically over the last year but I disagree that she should win the belt right now. She’s not at that level yet and Stat is just getting started. I want to see Stat lose to Britt in a non-title match and then pin Britt clean at a PPV.
  22. I’ve been wondering for a while if they were looking to take over NJPW Strong and combine it with ROH.
  23. I mean here in Philly there must be a bunch of bars that show wrestling PPVS, right?
  24. My wife’s GI issues means that there are a lot of times she needs to do mostly liquids and/or supplement her nutrition and she loves the Soylent drinks. Best part of they don’t load them with soluble fiber to be “healthier”, since she also has to limit her fiber.
  25. Texas Red is just glorified enchilada sauce, they way they worship that shit down there is just ridiculous. Beans add another dimension of texture and depth, and also allows you to make the chili even spicier without it being palate blowing. Anyway, finally caught Collision and that was a good show. Best I’ve ever seen Andrade look. I am very high on Jay White and would eventually like to see what he could do breaking away from a faction. Loved seeing the Workhorsemen getting to hit a ton of stuff and win the crowd over. I think The Kingdom is awesome and The Righteous are awful. I think Skye and Julia had a much better match, and I am also glad they didn’t job Willow out. The main was not the best Texas death match I’ve seen in AEW but it was still good stuff. I agree they need to give Ricky another big win but he definitely got elevated in defeat. I will probably end up getting WrestleDream, just too much good stuff.
