Stayed the night there and then drove up to Cuyahoga Falls the next day for The National with The War on Drugs. WoD is probably my favorite active band. It was my fifth time seeing them, and they get better every time. The National's set was awesome, too. We had lawn seats and it was a gorgeous, cool night.
I was jamming out to Live Drugs Again on Friday night during my workout. Excellent stuff. "The Boxer" is one of my favorite albums, and I still want to see Vampire Weekend.

I saw the co-headlining tour for Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats and My Morning Jacket on Saturday in Metro Atlanta. Rateliff sounds fantastic and is someone I wanted to see live. "I need never get old" is just a fun tune to just act out to in general, but I've been chasing the opportunity to see Jacket for some time. They are as incredible in person as has been stated in the past. I also got what could not have been a better first show setlist from them, and stuff like Wordless Chorus and One Big Holiday are just experiences live. I'll definitely catch them again at some point.

Seriously though, the names I'd seen being batted around was Bethard and Tannehill and phew, at least we got someone who won't be killed by the wet tissue paper thin offensive line this stupid team has.
I jokingly text a friend that they should have at least inquired about Jameis from Clevaland, although, they may be looking at him as more viable than Deshaun before long.
Edit: you can tell that I did not watch much of the Jags/Browns yesterday. -

Looks like Hugh Freeze has hit the limit on Peyton Thorne. Hank Brown widely reported as the starter for tomorrow.
Thorne's 2021 feels several lifetimes ago. And also makes a compelling argument for just how great Jaden Reed and Kenneth Walker III are.
Barn Twitter was very quick to troll a certain slogan popularized last year.

I was at the Cal game last week. To say that it was a soul sucking experience is not an understatement. -
That's quite the community note.

ANYWAY... I know the hype around Astro Bot is that it is an immensely beautiful and joyous experience, and hearing that over and over again might be a little redundant but the fact of the matter is it's absolutely true.
I have a dumb smile on my face as I play it, and I've only just gotten through the first world. I've seen some other stuff streamed, and it's amazing the creativity and niche qualities Team Asobi brought to every level.

As it turns out, buying a bunch of good receivers did not, in fact, make Payton Thorne a better QB.
Auburn down 21-7 to Cal in the 4th AT HOME.
I was there. Of the dumb losses I've attended in JHS over the years, this one has to rank near the top. I'm scared to make that list.
It also sadly continues my losing streak of games I attended.

Fun fact: Since the AP poll expanded to 25 teams, Florida State is only the third team to ever be ranked in the top ten in week one and fall out of the poll in week two, joining 2008 Clemson and 2007 Maxsjdezzzz
Sorry my monitor went out and I didn't see who the first ever was.
Possibly 2003 Auburn? Started the year ranked 3rd and lost back to back to USC and Georgia Tech.

We are only one full week into college football season, and parts of my timeline on Twitter are already in the early stages of FLIGHT SZN! The derangement of this time of year is always a fun time.

The Dolphins signed Tim Boyle to the practice squad, which is great because he already has a Dolphins touchdown pass:
I don't understand the Dolphins backup situation at all. I even fell into the Dolphins Twitter narrative of "giving Tannehill a look for a return might be a good idea." You would think a quality backup should be high priority given health concerns.

I do think the Big 12 is about as wide open as any conference this year, which should make it maybe the most fun one to watch, but I've kind of fallen into the lazy narrative that it's Utah's to lose. Also, we all know the defects from watching him be an HC for the last 12 years, but if there was ever a year for Gus to make another surprise run, it's this year. Him trying to turn KJ Jefferson into Cam Newton will be something to behold, which the underrated thing about the Cam Newton year was he was OC and had a filter. Plus, Cam is a top 10 college football player of all time.

I know there was some smoke and mirrors involved, but it's definitely impressive that Bo was able to work a near 15 minute match due to it being his first match since 2019 and first singles since 2018. (I referenced Cagematch. I don't know if he ever worked any indies).

I burst out in tears laughing during that spot. The usage of Stokely in general was tremendous.

This is the year. Bo Nix has improved so much in this new offense. He's focused. He's having fun. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a dark horse for NFL Rookie of the Year.

What's the logic behind wrestling for a #1 spot in the gauntlet? Seems like an odd stipulation.

Incredible shot by Bruno there. Bummer it was offside.

I'll echo the sentiments of everyone here. I do not watch all of RAW usually, but I really cannot remember the last time I took in all 3 hours and I looked forward to seeing everything on the show. If I'm watching all 3 hours, it's usually because I am partially checked out.

Ah, so I am not the only one that figured Shane talking to TK/AEW probably had absolutely nothing to do with an on-screen/in-ring position, and was about the business side of things.
It could have been about either or both.

It makes you wonder if the Shane discussion was in part to talk about tv negotiations given that he does have a history of doing that when he left WWE the first time.

Hope the main event and co-main events are won by my fellow Brits, Leon Edwards/Tom Aspinall and end quick as I'm ready to sleep.
I did not love that UFC decided to run the event at such a crap time for you especially given the UK crowds always deliver. Dana's post-fight press conference about the fighting being poor and not caring about how late it was did not give a great look.

I think the simplest answer is probably the most accurate answer. There had been tea leaves for a year or two now that everyone wanted RDJ back in the MCU and RDJ had started warming up to the idea. However, he just was not interested in coming back if it meant retreading Tony Stark, especially given that character was given one of the better endings in the entire universe. I do wonder if him looking like Stark will at least play a role in these upcoming films and if that will be a narrative thread for Peter Parker.

Off topic: I'm not huge on U2, but I saw a doc on Showtime years ago featuring The Edge kinda talking shop and jamming a little with Jimmy Page and Jack White, called "It Might Get Loud" that kind of gave me a newfound appreciation for his playing - if you're a fan I'd definitely recommend, I really enjoyed his segments even as more of a casual, "hits only" guy.
I too recommend the doc. It was one I saw back when I worked at Movie Gallery and could watch releases that came in a few days prior to us placing them on shelves.

Charley Crockett dropped a second part to his $10 Cowboy album from earlier this year titled "Visions of Dallas."
Also, apparently people that bought stuff from Third Man Records received the pressing of an untitled new Jack White record over the weekend.

I wish I watched more of the 80s project than I did. I got the discs for the WWF one when that started ages ago.
