  1.

I am amused that everyone has already forgotten about Bray Wyatt vs. Daniel Bryan

This is true. When I read the question, I immediately set my brain to 5 years plus in the past. I do suspect this match will stand the test of time.

It probably popped into my head just because I watched it a few days ago, but I was shocked at how good Dean Malenko vs Scotty 2 Hotty for the light-heavyweight title was at Backlash '00. The crowd was ridiculously into Scotty, hated Dean and just went nuts for everything that happened during the match.  And the finish was an awesome mega-death finish too.  That had to have been the best match of Scotty's career.

And given that Dean's name has popped up a few times, is he a contender for King of the Opening Match?

Nitpick, but Dean/Scotty didn't go on first. Road Dogg and X-Pac vs. E&C opened Backlash 2000 (a great ppv btw).

Judgement Day the following month also has a fun opener with Too Cool/Rikishi vs. E&C/Angle was a fun opener. Not sure I'd call it great, but a good opener to a great card.

Is your species choice basically a cosmetic choice, or does that effect your abilities.

There will definitely be some RPG elements and stat builds to consider, but from what I've heard from interviews, Bungie wants to keep far away from cookie cutter builds.  They don't want one set build to be the "right combination" even if some races seem tailor made for some classes (ex. Exo Titans or Awoken Warlocks).

Race and Class should compliment each other, but Bungie still loves the Halo mechanic of adventure builds (ie. reward through mission completion rather than random drops) so I imagine that getting a full set of rare armor will require grinding through a series of "dungeons" or in some cases, you will probably receive rewards in the form of rare skills or powers rather than loot.

This sounds like a game with this group where I wish I had gotten an Xbox One. I hope some of you decide saving $100 is the way to go and opt to buy Titanfall on PC instead.

  3. I figured this would be a great thread for us to talk about different shows we are going to see. My concert schedule this year is looking pretty light. I just bought my first pair of tickets for the year and will see Ray LaMontagne in July.

Feel free to share thoughts, experiences, photos, etc. of your random show going experiences.

I hope to add a few before the end of the year myself.

  4. 1998 WCW was famous for some really strong openers. A couple of which involved "He Who Must Not Be Named."

Starrcade had the Kidman/Juvi/Rey match that led to Kidman/Eddie. I would count that all as one segment and thus an "opener" to another major card that WCW decided to bogey.

Superbrawl had the back to back Booker vs. Martel and Booker vs. Saturn matches that I absolutely enjoyed.

Great American Bash concluded the Booker/Benoit best of 7.

I think Slamboree had a good Finlay/Benoit match as well.

This is all going off of years old memories.

  5. What was really annoying about the 13 system was that they brought back that never not missed thing about the battle being over as soon as the leader of the party got killed. Doesn't help screaming at the fucking medic to heal.

Yeah, the game is not as much predicated on the attacks (Auto-Battle is normally the quickest way to get things done) due to the pacing not really letting you figure out strategy like a true turn-based game.

It is predicated on how quickly you can find the right paradigm, which sometimes can take a minute for you to remember the placement of the combos.

  6. As already mentioned, I really liked DDP vs. Mero at Fall Brawl 95... although I'm not sure if you'd call Fall Brawl a major card.

Also, Bryan Danielson vs. Jay Briscoe was a really good opener at Final Battle '03 in what was a major card for an independent show (Great Muta coming over to the states).

Also, once again not sure if this is really major but Foley vs HHH at Canadian Stampede I recall being REALLY GOOD.

  7. If you're in or near Evanston I recommend the Prairie Moon Cafe.  I was there a couple of weeks ago and they had an awesome selection of local and national crafts on tap.

I tried Lagunitas Sucks IPA this weekend, and it's pretty damn good.  It's overhopped but not overpowering.

Our conference is in Lombard, and I think there's even a Harry Carays in the hotel. The only night I'm not sure of where we'll be is probably Monday night since we're meeting with a vendor.

  8. I am traveling to Chicago next week for work (first time ever going), and might have one day where I'm near a bar(my locations are at the mercy of others) with a strong variety in drinks? What are some good Chicago crafts I need to check out if they present themselves?

  9. Why are Dirt Sheets talking about Summerslam plans at this point? When is the last time the WWE had a real idea of what they were doing for a major PPV five months in advance that was not WrestleMania? Let's get through Mania and then we can start talking about Summer angles.

  10. I started playing FFXIII again, so I can get it finished. I am in Chapter 5. I forgot how frustrating the mechanics of this game can be and that I had to reteach myself how to actually play it.  Also, not being able to control your party members commands can be frustrating especially when you're having to cycle through Paradigm shifts to find the right one.

I just got destroyed by a feral behemoth.

  11. I used the Network to watch Wrestlemania 2 for the first time. We are in the middle of a Wrestlemania Retrospective series at the moment. I'll share it on the board once we get a few more episodes under our bet. Today was the third episode to hit iTunes.

EDIT: The Bulldogs/Dream Team match is far better than I remember it being when I watched it during the DVDVR '80s WWF poll before I gave up on having time to watch all 100 matches.

  12. Y'know, I will say this. The streaming channel working like a champ at least shows that they might be able to handle the Mania 30 volume.

It's just sad I can't get my wrestling nerd on with the app.

I hope the 360 app is functional. The splash screen for logins is a lot better than the PS4 one.

  13. I really do not like how limited the PS4 app is so far. I guess there's no search function and I guess you're supposed to be able to skip to certain chapters. Also, I'm in buffer hell whenever I try to watch archived PPVs.

I have a feeling the 360 app will be better if it will ever start working.

  14. I picked up Lightning Returns on Friday. This game is kicking my ass. I'm on day 5 already and I've only been able to push the total number of days up to 8. I haven't even finished the first main quest they present you with. I'm at the very end, but Noel keeps kicking my ass. I guess I really haven't gotten the hang of doing the sidequests to level up.

I really dislike how many of the garbs have certain abilities locked on certain buttons and there's nothing you can do about it. It fucks with the system I had set up to be able to keep things straight when I'm cycling through schematas in the middle of battle.

I think I'm going to end up either starting over or having to do another playthrough to get everything right.

I haven't finished XIII or XIII-2, so I'm waiting for this to drop in price, which if this is like XIII-2, it will pretty quickly.
