  1. You should try FunFunFunFest in Texas. Great line up every year, and there's always wrestling shows at the festival too.

Fun, fun, Fun is on my to do list, but I would rather make the trek to Austin for ACL if I did anything this year.

Austin is a good 13ish hour drive for me as well. When you're traveling with two, it's cheaper to drive that.

  2. I actually don't know if I'm going to go next year. This was my 7th year, and I can't think of a better way to cap off my Bonnaroo adventures (for now, anyway) than an awesome headlining set by Kanye and a ton of good bands on the undercard. I might try for something a tad smaller next year, like Pitchfork.

It looks as if I'm in the minority when it comes to Jack White and his set, because I wasn't all that impressed. Then again, A LOT of people didn't like Kanye's set, but I've found those that didn't like it were in the back of the crowd. Which is understandable, because they couldn't see dick. I didn't even think about the side screens being off and how that would effect the rest of the crowd that weren't lucky enough to be so close. I, personally, had the time of my goddamn life.

We are considering Voodoo this year, but after hotel costs that might not be a great idea, and I hear the Voodoo vibe is just not great. Plus, New Orleans is an expensive wasteland for Halloween.

I think we will do Music Midtown. It's $100 for two days and the lineup is usually enough to justify the cost.

  3. That's why you gotta push forward for a show you want to see! It took me 4 hours to get front row and to the left for Kanye, ended up missing Neutral Milk Hotel. But it was worth it. I just wish I would have left Jack White earlier to get a good spot for Frank Ocean, damnit.

My personal streak of never going to a Sunday of Bonnaroo continued this year - it seems like they always have the bands I care nothing about on that day, which is fine. I rage from Thursday to Saturday pretty hard, anyway.

(ALSO: Ty Segall is the new King of Bonnaroo.)

Saturday felt pretty dead for me schedule wise until Jack White. Sunday actually would have been a fun day to traverse as there was a good bit to see. I watched the stream of the Avetts set, which was really good, and I would have totally skipped it if I had gone to Roo in favor of Amos Lee who also killed it with his set.

Yeah, I have mastered getting close at the big stages. Especially, if I am by myself. In the tents, I have been able to push forward but only so far.

Usually, I end up right under the awning and cannot see much. I am only 5'10", so I am inevitably going to be blocked by a long line of people taller than me.

We are determined to go back next year.

  4. 'lest we forget Damon bringing out De La Soul and Del Tha Funky Homosapien. And having a brass band. And a mini orchestra. Dude deserves our #5 spots! :P

Frank Ocean was nuts, and insanely good. At first I was stuck behind the handicap seating, which was fine. I had a good view, even if it was shoulder-to-shoulder packed. Then the show started and it was like a bumrush to get closer, which I don't see how that was possible. It was already so tightly packed. Oceanmania, son.

I really dislike the tent stages... especially when both main stages are not open.

If you do not get under the tent or get a good vantage from the sides, you cannot see anything. The Other Tent maybe the only exception because the grass slopes upward, but that depends on the sun and the time of day. Also, Roo 2013 had a terrible lineup at The Other Tent.

  5. I saw an ad for Fox's Summer Binge as I was catching up on 24. Although, there is no press about it this year if you Google the subject.

I hope they're sitll intending to do it this weekend. I want to blow through Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

  6. Caught the new ep on my Hulu while working on this blade server.  Holy shit..

I will admit that I laughed at Jack's "it is the policy of this country not to negotiate with Terrorists" after recent current events.

..and that's all I am going to say on that subject.

I guess after Lady Stark eats a bullet in-between the eyes Jack will use Chloe to move in on Wilcott's character.

  7.

I received a Beta code for Battlefield Hardline on PS4. I might boot that up tonight.

I was hyped for it but have been pretty disappointed when you compare actual gameplay to that amazing trailer from E3 (not the first time somebody's said that). Seems more like a mod than a new game. Destiny will certainly be getting my money first.

The last Battlefield game I've played was Bad Company, so I'll take the opportunity to at least try out some of the multiplayer for free.

Also, the reviews for EA UFC make me happy I didn't jump the gone on my preorder.

  8. Amos Lee just seems like an insanely fun live show. He is a guy I have been meaning to see for some time. He busted out the Game of Thrones theme at the end of his set, which was really cool. The band also apparently likes to bridge into many covers.

  9. True, the only downside is that the better parts of the lineup were really today and tomorrow. There are acts I could see on Saturday and Sunday, but those were my days with the least Conflicts/needing to hustle from one end of Centeroo to the other.

EDIT: Saturday Specifically I could easily just see First Aid Kit and then get in the pit line for Jack White.  Not much else really on the "have to see list."

    Sunday is a little different.

  10. All about registering the ticket before the hand off.  There are some in murfreesborro offering for 250 each, but that seems steep given the time.

Still looking around, but will probably leave Southern IL in the next 3 hours with or without a ticket. LOL

    Yeah,

I am debating about seeing if I can find some for Saturday at around $100 and just take in the last two days. I am that desperate to at least take in the farm for a piece of this festival.

  11. TRISTOF!! HELP ME!!

My plans cleared up and I'm about to do something stupid!!!  Can you give me any info on what the scalpers are asking for right now?  Know any locals with two tickets for sale?

You can buy them at the gate for full price I think. ALso, you need to make sure the wristbands are not registered.

If you check Nashville's craigslist, there are a couple of guys saying they have bands outside the Kangaroo gas station in Manchester.

The one guy from yesterday sounded possibly legit.

  12.

I admit I am still intrigued by Inquisition but DA2 enraged me so that I never finished it and I really really don't have the time to go back and play that again.

I was so enraged by my DA2 experience on a friend's console that I never finished Origins and never owned DA2 for my own console..

I rented Origins ages ago and enjoyed it. I even bought it last year, but I have not touched it. I probably should play it before Inquisition.

Is DA2 still that unplayable that it's worth skipping altogether?

  13. I might have missed this getting posted in the all the Terminator nonsense

I really like the original, but I have low hopes for this because sequels for something like this rarely pan out to be as good. However, that trailer seems like a lot of fun.

Was there a reason that Clive Owen is not playing Dwight in this film and has been replaced by Josh Brolin? I love Brolin as an actor, but Owen was one of my favorite parts of the first film. The scene of him imagining Benicio Del Toro in the car was one of my favorite scenes from that film.

  14. If something comes out in Oscar season, now you're in a virtual race to beat out the piracy market releasing a DVD screener.

The other issue with Oscar season is a lot of those movies run limited release runs until they are announced as award nominees, so smaller markets can only see those films by either being on vacation in a decent market or by pirating them.
