You get a buyout! And you get a buyout!

When was the last time two teams played each other, in a non end of season game, then both fired their coach afterwards?   Gotta figure that’s not common.

Just hope y’all learned a lesson about guaranteed contracts.

Problem is, Lanning (if he’s the guy) would probably require one of those insane fully guaranteed contracts.

I’ve seen some ridiculous names thrown around today.  Deion. Kiffin.  Swinney.  Meyer.  Kingsbury.  Dan Campbell.

Sports Illustrated is reporting that Michigan has discussed leaving the Big Ten.

    They’re PAC-2 bound.

Part of me wonders if the timing of the Fisher firing is Michigan related. Maybe the BOR guessed Harbaugh is gone to the NFL, and landing your preferred target is a lot easier if Michigan isn’t also in the picture for him.

  4. 5 hours ago, JLowe said:They are apparently targeting DeBoer and Lanning. Some of the Regents really want UTSA coach Jeff Traylor, and that’s where they might end up. Good coach, tons of Texas connections, but no P4 head coaching history.

I’d be shocked if it’s traylor.  Figure they’ll go after one or both of the other two, or Elko.

Shoulda let Jimbo walk to LSU two years ago and kept Elko then.  Would’ve lost a few from THE GREATEST CLASS EVER~!, but the list would’ve overlapped pretty close with the ones that have already been run off or transferred.

  5. What a weird time to do it.  I can only guess they were in a rush to snap up whoever we’re gonna money whip next before somebody else did.  If not, why not wait till we lose to LSU to do this?

Goodbye to Jimbo and the worst collection of former HCs on the planet - Petrino, Addazio and Durkin.

Keep Elijah Robinson please.  The rest can go.

now I gotta go  to Mass and fight the temptation to keep looking at my phone the whole time

  6. Wife's aunt died yesterday.  Honestly glad she's at peace now.  Wife and I volunteered in dementia wards for years, and I'm not sure I've seen a worse case.

So now I get to deal with my wife's family.

I can just about handle my inlaws.  They're the sanest of the bunch.  I just have to protect my wife from their low grade insanity, which never comes out if I'm around.  I've had 25 years of practice at that.

And at least I won't (I think) have to deal with the worst of her family.  The thieving bastards' (like steal a relative's life savings level of thieving) and gang members probably won't make an appearance, since they'd actually have to spend money to get there.  (I had to stand in as a pallbearer at her grandfather's funeral after one of her cousins went on the run - the police were looking for him over a gang related shooting the day before the funeral.)

So this time I get to deal with the medium grade level assholes.  My wife's jackass uncle who lives in a $5 million house, but didn't want to spend money on a funeral, despite his wife's very clear wishes.  The cousin and her POS husband who couldn't possibly help with any of this shit for her mom, despite their supposedly endless wealth and lack of any real responsibilities.

I've spent all my spare time this week dealing with 18 months of my father's unread email, unsubscribing him from mailing lists and deleting thousands of conspiracy theory emails.  I didn't expect the craziest thing I read all week to be on the weekly CFB thread here.

My current thoughts on the Michigan scandal: I do not understand how this could possibly both have been so complex (scouting all over the country, including multiple potential playoff opponents) while also being so dumb that this guy bought tickets in his own name.

Like if he had just had his network or whatever buy their own tickets and then sent them the money on venmo, it's entirely possible he/they never get caught. How in the hell is this guy smart enough to have graduated from the Naval Academy, and either been the point man on or have put together himself an elaborate college football spy ring, and yet not know that you don't leave an obvious paper trail.

Unless he's intentionally allowed himself to be positioned as the fall guy.

I'm just gonna go ahead and assume that SEC Shorts' dramatization of how this went down is 100% correct.

Decades ago during the later Montana years, the Niners used to roll a giant sound system out on their practice field and play Huey Lewis music cranked up before road games to simulate crowd noise.

When I was in grad school at Texas (late 90s), I walked out of the ENS building one November afternoon and wondered where all the yelling I heard was coming from.  Then I heard the Aggie War Hymn fire up.  It was loud as hell where I was, two thirds of the way across campus.

Someone who was 6 years old the last time Texas A&M won a national championship would be 90 years old currently.

Forget about national championships.  A&M has only had three years that would generally be considered "good" since I graduated 29 years ago.

    - 98, last conference championship won, with the out of nowhere win over undefeated K State

    - 2012, 11-2, Manziel's Heisman year

    - 2020, 9-1 in the Covid year

  11. Back to coaching my sons baseball team again.  I’ve had to tell the kids a lot of stuff over the last four years.   But I’d never had to say “stop humping that sycamore tree”.

At least I hadn’t had to do that before last night.

  12. Conner Weigman is out for the season after breaking something in his foot/ankle.  If you're counting, that makes three years in a row that A&M has lost its starting QB for most of the year.

Please excuse me, I'm off to make a voodoo doll of Steve Addazio.

Auburn/A&M is absolutely miserable football, as expected.

The one nice thing about not having a break from 8 to 6 today is at least I can’t make myself suffer through watching that game.

Are you playing on PS or did you change your XBox ID?  Your profile says you're offline.

Still on Xbox and still the same ID. Not sure what’s up.  Possible I set it to offline when I was down with Covid a couple weeks ago.  I noticed a few weeks ago that you’re not on my friends list anymore.  No clue why.

I uninstalled yesterday in a fit of pique.  My play through was fucked badly enough (330k bounty on whatever that first planet is called) that I didn’t care enough to figure out how to un-fuck it.

I’ll reinstall when I’m not pissed off at the world.  Right now there’s so much I don’t like about the game that I don’t need it around.

  15. So far, nothing has I’ve seen is gripping me. By the time I made it to whatever the the first populated planet is called, I just started shooting at civilians out of annoyance.

Not sure if the problem is the game or me and the immensely shitty week I’ve had   Maybe it’s both of us

I’m hoping this turns out like Morrowind did for me, where I despised it at first, but eventually fell in love and played a billion hours of it.

  16. Looks like Denver Harris may have been sent packing by LSU. If so, that  will make four players from A&M’s 2022 recruit class that have been kicked off the team they transferred to before the start of the 2023 season.  30 for 30 on that class is gonna be bonkers.

(side note - I may have set a board record for worst tense usage there)

We are going on 28 straight days in Austin over 100 Fahrenheit, most of which have been in the 103-106 range with heat indices closer to 110. It’s usually about 10 pm when the heat index drops below 100. At night, it’s not really getting below 80.

I’m pretty much broken now. I have so little energy and initiative, yet I have to pack our house to move at the end of the month, and take care of all the things associated with that.

So glad to not be there for awhile. I’ve been in Tennessee all week. People here saying it’s hot when it’s 15 degrees hotter at home.

Between all the fire warning texts and the news saying it’s gonna get even hotter next week, I don’t wanna go home.

Not sure if anyone here has ever experienced a heat index of 119 degrees F (48.3 C) but I do not recommend. Setting an all-time record for Austin, and it's only the first day of summer. No true relief in sight.

The old record was apparently set the day before.

Was helping run my son's baseball practice Tuesday, and it was just brutal.  Had one kid go down after about 20 minutes.  The rest of em looked pretty pretty rough as well.

Today was thankfully cut short by the wild ass thunderstorms that came through Manchaca.  Even our dipshit coach seemed to realize that having a bunch of seven and eight year olds standing around in a hailstorm wasn't a great idea.

So today's new update apparently removes almost 190 cars and motorcycles

Well more specifically it is removing if you haven't already purchased them

Rockstar claims they are "lesser used". The player base apparently says that is bullshit

And to irritate people even more - apparently some of the vehicles are being put behind the GTA+ subscription fee

I mean I haven't played this game it at least like 5 years and I still recognize vehicles on the list getting removed

Anyway - enjoy your new update!

Gotta find a way to make that next billion, I guess.  Figure GTA6 will be pretty much useless without GTA+.  That list of removed stuff is crazy.  Damn near every car that was around the last time you or JT played this thing got wiped today.

Worst of all, the removed the Mini Cooper.  Rendering the Nite Shift battle cry "To the Mini Cooper!" obsolete.
