I like it. I have no problem with Rogers spending $$$. Next year Jordan Groshans should be major league ready so a one year flier on Semien makes sense.

If 2019 Marcus Semien shows up there will be a whole lot of clubberin' going on in Dunedin and wherever else they may wind up playing this year.  A lot of money but it's one year and the Jays have to overpay usually to get guys to take their calls.  If this results in the Guererro third basemen experiment ending for good I'm all for it. Of course the other elephant in the room is Bichette isn't that great at SS either and Biggio is that jack of all trades master of none in the field so not too many defensive runs saved from this lot this year

  2. I swear Don King must have finally gone senile.  Apparently there is a WBA Heavyweight title fight happening on Friday at the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood FL between Manuel Charr and Trevor Bryan.  With Beibut Shumenov on the undercard.  But as of this minute Charr is still sitting in Germany and doesn't sound like Shumenov has made it in either.  Plus the Hard Rock Hotel doesn't have the fight listed as an event on their website.  Bermane Stiverne is also on the card and will supposedly fight Bryan for the Interim? Super? Regular? WBA World title if Charr doesn't make it.  You can buy this online for $19.99.  Sounds like it will be in a warehouse somewhere if this happens

Wow they haven't called a penalty the entire game and then waiting until the last important play for it to happen.  I mean it is a flag but seriously that should have been called 6 times today

Had he tugged then let go he probably wouldn't have been flagged. When you grab and stretch the jersey that much you are forcing them to make a call. It was all but yelling at the ref that he was committing a penalty

I'd like to think that your last post here reverse jinxed George into our arms lol

LOL maybe.  I think the Jays and Mets were the only serious suitors and with everyone the Mets added their interest faded.  People said they were waiting for a third team to make a serious offer which never came

  5. Surprised the Jays pulled that off.  They had to give out that 6th year which they never do.  Now if they could find someone to pitch.  Trying to get Castillo and Moustakas from Cincy makes sense but supposedly the Yankees are on Castillo and may offer Gleyber Torres

I'm so glad the Jays didn't sign him. That's alot of cash for a reliever who did his best work in Oakland's spacious ballpark.

Don't worry the homeless Jays won't be getting anyone.  Not great to try and sell players on the future when you don't even know if you will be able to play in Toronto in 2022 let alone 2021

So Todd McShay has his first mock draft up and I can't tell if he's trolling or he just doesn't like Justin Fields.

      Reveal hidden contents

He has Fields falling all the way down to 15th and being picked by the Patriots.

    His current top 5:

    1.  Trevor Lawrence to the Jaguars

    2.  Penei Sewell to the Jets (and he thinks the Jets will keep Darnold)

    3.  DeVonta Smith to the Fins

    4.  Zach Wilson to the Falcons

    5.  Rashawn Slater to the Bengals

  8. Hey if the Eagles won they would have had the 9th pick in the draft.  With the loss they have number 6 I believe.  Moving up in the draft without making a trade.  Can't believe the misplaced outrage on what a losing team did in a nothing game to finish their season.

***The Giants should have won more games if they didn't want to be put into this position***

That being said, real fucking annoying that The Eagles are losing this game on purpose. Fine I can understand not taking the easy points because you're go for it on 4th down all the time kinda team. But putting in the third string QB when you're down by 3 and Hurts is playing well? Fuck Doug Pederson & Fuck The Eagles.

Happy for Alex Smith tho. Hell of a journey to get back to a starting QB for a playoff team.

Playing well? 7-20 for 72yds is hardly well.  Best pass thrown tonight was by one of the receivers

Do they get 2018 Blake Snell who won a Cy Young?  Do they get 2017 and 2019 Blake Snell who missed a bunch of starts and didn't qualify for the ERA title?  2020 Snell who average 4 innings per start?

    I like this pickup it's definitely not a sure-thing.

That's Tampa's magic.  More likely than not San Diego has just picked up Chris Archer the sequel

Except that discounts the fact that one of the biggest reasons that everyone hated the  Daniel Jones pick was that Dwayne Haskins was still available.  Snyder is a dumbass, but pretty much every team who needed a quarterback would have picked him.  I went and looked at things that people said about Justin Herbert and Dwayne Haskins, and it's pretty clear that scouts liked Haskins more despite Herbert being the stereotypical big, strong, pocket passer and is a better athlete than Haskins.  People who get paid millions of dollars to make these decisions thought that Haskins would be better than Herbert, and I don't understand how the hell that happened.

See Russell, JaMarcus. You never know what happens to a promising athlete when he gets some money for the first time

Also there is the Ohio State factor

THEY WENT TO OHIO STATE!!! CLEARLY THEY ARE GOOD!!!

Where if you look at the history of OSU offensive positions and who was actually good - the ratio is unkind

Basically. GMs and coaches get too excited over the played in a pro style offense guys vs the project guys. When you have to win now you go for a guy you figure you can just plug in. There will be conversations forever about Chicago not taking Mahomes but coming out of the Texas Tech spread offense no doubt worried clubs about what the growing pains would be.  Best thing to ever happen to Mahomes was going to Andy Reid.  Haskins is weird though. Rated highly even though Urban Meyer said he had issues with responsibility and maturity

  13. Yes Canelo never struck me as a guy who would avoid a challenge even when he should have like Lara.  We will have to see.  Kovalev was used up and don't remember if he landed anything on Canelo that made him feel uncomfortable at 175. Canelo probably could beat a Bivol if Bivol comes in passive.

  14. Canelo won't fight Bivol or Beterbiev. If he goes back to 175 it will be to fight a guy like Pascal.  Beterbiev is double tough but is unlucky and has endless promotion and management drama. His inactivity will have to trip him up as he enters his later 30s. Spence is more likely to face a Charlo or two in his future. Charlo will most likely will move up and down to take fights against non PBC guys since they will be easierto negotiate.  Golovkin 3 probably happens soon if not next.  Billie Joe Saunders is in play but I get the feeling Saunders likes holding his belt and doesn't want to take on a tough challenge and rather fights tge scrubby mandatory challengers.
