Naito's usually got a point when he goes on a moan. He also says:

Chuckling inwardly at the idea of Naito squinting at Cagematch listings and scribbling down notes

Is Strays really premiering tomorrow? I'm seeing August 18th on some websites.
You're right. Apparently it got moved in early May.
So, the only thing that this changes is that people can still enter up until June 15th!

Little Mermaid has $145.6 million after 7 days, Guardians 3 had $152.7 million after 7 days. So that looks like it's gonna be a horse race. Too close to call right now.
At the 12-day mark it's become apparent that Little Mermaid didn't have the legs (ha!) and it won't be able to catch Guardians.
Spider-Man looks like it'll top them both.

With the premieres of Transformers and Strays tomorrow, today is theeeeee absolute last day for anyone else to enter the pool!

Checked to see if the Transformers movie is REALLY getting better reviews than the Pixar movie... and it's not, not any more. It's down to 58%. Would be nice if it could drop below Fast X's 56% too.

Consequences of falling off this site for so long; realizing the Summer pool is back and missing the signups.
I'll be watching this and hoping for next year. Best of luck to everyone playing.
Fyi you CAN actually still get in, up until this coming Thursday. You'd be at a disadvantage, but there are still 16 movies that haven't premiered yet and can be used to make your 15-movie lists.

Perhaps a bit of a random question, but how do you keep track of films you want to watch? That could be either in terms of upcoming films, or even just in terms of films you come across and want to watch eventually.
In particular at the moment, I'm seeing films come up on Metacritic with high scores from the Cannes Film Festival, but I feel that I'm largely going to 'forget' about them as they come from the festival circuit into cinemas/streaming outside of the odd one here or there. That is what has sparked this question.
During my peak movie-watching years I kept a list, and the list was my signature on a message board (not this one) so that I'd constantly be seeing it, as opposed to sticking it in a Notepad file and forgetting it existed.
With festival movies, it's going to be months or even years until the general public can see them. So sometimes I'd forget what some of the movies on my list were, and why I wanted to see them. But rediscovering what the titles were was part of the fun!
Can you keep a list like that on Letterboxd? It seems like you should be able to do it on Letterboxd.

Wow, Little Mermaid already made more money than Fast X even though it's a week behind.

Just in case anyone's still thinking of entering: today is the last day to put Across the Spider-Verse on your lists!

Normally when they have 4 matches on Rampage, one of them is a squash. I wonder if that holds true here. They're all matches that I'd like to see get time, but 3 of them could be squashes.

I’m midway through the 4-way (just got through the tandem submissions) and my god is it ever terrible. The least organic thing imaginable.
This might be the most I've ever agreed with you about a show. I also loved the ladder match!
I don't inherently hate spotfests, or cutesy contrived sequences. I said on Twitter that I kept hearing "well the build's been bad, but these 4 will probably still have a great match." I might have enjoyed it more if people had been saying "they'll probably still have a great spotfest." Or like, maybe if this match hadn't been for the title, and it was the opener. My brain just can't process that they did THAT as the ppv world title match.

Real quick: Wardlow vs. Christian was my MOTN, which I never would have expected. Almost went off the rails with the broken ladder but they got it back on track.
Some good stuff in the battle royale, but would've expected Starks or White to win, to justify not giving them another singles match on this show. 4 pillars just wanted to do spots, the match was laid out like a series of improv sketches. Half of the Anarchy in the Arena match was cutting between 4 different fights every 5 seconds like Kevin Dunn was running the show.

Yeah, I don't know what you even do with him any more. It's like "this is bad and I feel bad for watching it, someone please help this guy".

Yes, same with my couch. I learned that one the hard way. (That's also why I charged some amount of money for it rather than just giving it away for free. $40 makes no actual difference to me, but I figure it screens out some people who I'd rather not have showing up at my house.)

Riiiight... that's the show that's on tomorrow. Never mind!

They COULD do Cody-Brock rubber match at Battleground, Cody wins the ladder match at MitB for the world title shot, Cody beats Roman at Summerslam... right?
I know it's unjustified optimism.

Also, Little Mermaid is off the table for list inclusion. I gotta stay on top of that.

Grumpy about Craigslist posters who say they're interested in buying my furniture and then flake. I'm trying to sell you a perfectly good couch for $40, let's get it together people.
Important update: Someone showed up when they said they were going to show up, paid me 40 real dollars for my couch, and got it out of my house without damaging anything. There is hope for humanity!

2023 Summer Blockbuster Movie Pool
in MOVIES & TV
Posted
When I heard Transformers beat out Spider-Man this past weekend at the box office, I was pretty surprised. But now that I'm looking at the numbers, I guess it was a first weekend vs. second weekend thing. Spider-Man is still on pace to be our #1 movie for box office, and Transformers is earning less than any other movie so far.
