Be funny if everybody myself included rank The Crow (2024) low on the 2024 Summer Blockbuster Movies Pool and it surpasses low expectations turning into a ballot buster.
Meant to say that I appreciate the reminder that it's time for me to start thinking about picking movies for this year's contest. 6 months already since the last one ended. It goes so fast.

Thanks so much to everyone who has been assisting and sending. Appreciate you and we will be reaching out for thanks, and to see what you'd like plugged/adopted etc
How much would I have to contribute for me to be allowed to hand out crosswords at the show?

Edit: Also, I'm not enough of a sicko to watch the press conference, but did anyone ask about Lesnar?
No. Or at least, no one asked HHH about him.

Seeing on Twitter that Slim Jim is already back in with the Rumble sponsorship btw.

Well, they fired the guy named in the lawsuit, and probably some other people later too. Decades of injustice completely fixed, just like that. It was a dark two days, but everything is right again. Now, as members of the WWE Universe, let's all tune in for the Royal Rumble tonight, the first stop on the road to WrestleMania!

I look forward to someone on the Royal Rumble scrum asking for a comment on the situation.
Oh that's right they won't because wrestling media are filled with cowardly marks with fake credentials
I'd suggest that anyone not prepared to ask that sort of question should just not attend. Either leave it to the adults, or if there are no adults, then have no one show up.
It doesn't even really matter if someone has the guts to hold their feet to the fire at their dumb Royal Rumble press conference, but come on. How could someone possibly show up and lob some ridiculous softball question after this.

Do we know what the rules are for the cage match on Collision? I thought it was 3-on-3 elimination but the graphic tonight said "escape the cage".

Huh. An indie show dedicated to DEAN!
I don't know exactly who all is involved with this, but I know that ACTION Wrestling is run by Matt Griffin aka Jacey North, and they typically put together great shows.

Very out of the loop on hockey but this seems to be a big deal?

I think Brody and Kingston can actually get through too, if Brody ends up 4-1 and then Kingston, Claudio, and Andrade are all at 3-2 with Kingston having wins over those other two.
Maybe I'll just stick to crosswords.

Assuming there are no draws, I think there are only 4 possibilities for the 2 wrestlers who advance from the Blue block:
Bryan & Andrade
Brody & Andrade
Claudio & Andrade
Bryan & Kingston
Keep an eye on that Bryan vs. Brody match though. If that one ends in a draw, it opens up a lot of other possibilities.

If Moxley beats White, then Swerve is in second place whether he beats Rush or not.
I'm not sure this is right. If Mox and Rush win, then second place is another rock-paper-scissors unresolvable tie between White, Rush, and Swerve, isn't it?

I would like the Blue block to end up with Bryan vs. Claudio in a "must win to advance" situation, with Claudio iffy on whether to take advantage of his stablemate Bryan's vulnerable eye.
I would also like to see Brody King squash the fuck out of Daniel Garcia. Like I know the tournament has been all about having long matches that try to get as many stars as possible, and I like Garcia as much as anyone, but just go a different direction with this one and further establish Brody as the man to beat in this block.
-
So looking at the last 2 matches for everyone in the Gold block, I'm pretty sure they'll be having Swerve beat Mox. Whoever wins that match (Swerve imo) is guaranteed to advance. Then the week after that, you would have Mox vs. Jay White, presumably with both of them coming in at 3-1, and the winner of that match would be the second place finisher in the block.
I can't even tell what they're doing with the scheduling in the Blue block. Danielson missed the first week and is doing 2 matches this week, and Brody apparently isn't wrestling this week. That one's going to be a bit tougher to figure out.
-
I'm a little scared to ask this, but: is it still possible for someone who's 0-2 to win the tournament? Best they can do in the round robin stage is 3-2, obviously.

Early this morning TK tweeted a 2 hour, 46 minute video recapping the entire Athena-Billie Starkz angle. (Fully out of the loop on ROH, but I'm going to try to watch it!)
Anyway, due to the length of the video, I just saw someone refer to it as "Killers of the Ember Moon"

Punk in it for the money is an interesting thought. Because he's portrayed the public persona of it's not about the money at all it's about his principles. Like he was making tippy top guy money in WWE in 2014. The money wasn't enough because the product was soul crushing to him.
I didn't watch (not even clips) so I don't know exactly how he came across when he said it, but consider that "I'm here to make money" could mean "I'm here to cash a paycheck" or it could mean "I'm here to put on some good matches and cut some good promos".
As many times as I've thought "SURELY they must know that this segment was bad" and been completely wrong, I do still give them enough credit to believe that everyone in the room, most of all Punk, knows that promo was completely disingenuous and that it's leading to something. Not planning on watching either way, though.

I'm a little upset that there was no Night One Upset.
Maybe we'll get a Week One Upset. They were leaning pretty heavy into Garcia being a Dark Horse Underdog etc etc. I love Claudio, but I would pop pretty damned hard if he did the honours during the three-hour RampLision.
Most boring and disappointing possible way to book the tournament, by a mile, would be to go chalk the whole way. Upper card guys and "big names" beating guys lower on the card, and fighting to a draw when they face one another.
Please. No.
Fully agree with all this.
Saw a take (I think it was on Twitter, hopefully it wasn't on here) that you couldn't do an upset tonight, because Mox and White needed wins to rebound from their ppv losses, and you couldn't have Swerve lose because he's hot right now and you don't want to cool him off. But the guy who said that didn't understand... at least in the G1... a round robin tournament is sort of self-contained, and losses in that tournament obviously count in terms of missing out on points in the tournament but kind of don't count in the bigger picture. It's a little tough to put into words, but I'm hoping some of you know what I'm talking about.
Like a few years back, Chase Owens beat Tanahashi in the G1, and a bunch of people who probably don't watch New Japan got upset about it. I was like, it's fine! It's the G1! The G1 has upsets!

Phil was on the Masked Man Ringer podcast to plug this show (episode is called "The WrestleMania XL Fantasy Draft with Phil Schneider"). It's right at the start of the show, starts at 2:50.
I won't spoil it, but the highlight for me was Phil's story about a DM he got, around the 11:30 mark.
