I remember seeing this the first time and thinking "Bret just took a backdrop on the concrete! Why is he not more hurt than that? I guess it must be because the match hasn't even started and he has all his energy left." The match ended up being fantastic and I started liking LaFitte way more afterwards.

It always bothered me, even as a kid, that Hercules teamed with DiBiase at the 1990 Survivor Series in the grand finale match. Their history was never addressed, nor was their any tension teased between the two. I mean, if some meglomaniac millionnaire tried to buy me as a slave, I'd be uneasy about teaming with him.

That's right! They did team up! One would have to assume that Slick used all his mojo to convince Hercules to grit his teeth and do it, since they had such a big advantage in the finale. Of course, they still ended up losing.

Of course, this had nothing to do with their plans, but the ending of the match would have been cooler if Dibiase was the last guy pinned, not Hercules, and Herc was the one taking the "fuck this" count out elimination instead of Rick Martel.

Cartwright dropped her suit this week. I'm unaware of any other declarations.

Yeah, I didn't say I approved of the situation, but this might chance the eventual outcome...

If the charges dropped equals nothing happened, then pretty much all bets are off, right? Hope Ricochet wins, though

  4. All of this weeks matches were pretty badass! Next week, will Dragunov win the title? WTF else can happen if not that?

...oh. Apparently that. Well, fuck! That fucking sucks. Shouldn't have asked.

Well, outside forces aside, I just don't see Riddle as ready for that elevation yet.

If Randy truly broke him, as they're sort of hinting, then I could see him elevated by 'snapping' and 'injuring' someone. In that scenario, preferably Orton - since, Frankenstein was killed by his own monster. Then pushing him up the card against his former friends like Priest, New Day, and on up the card.

But yeah, I'm guessing it's just Drew or Seth.

(Honestly, it would be hilarious if they've spent literally thousands of dollars destroying a motorcycle just to flush the nascent Jinder feud down the toilet.)

Wasn't Riddle just declared innocent of everything ever, just like Cosby was, so he could still somehow be back in the race, like it or not?

  6. The fate of the great Arthur Ashe bums me the F out. In my previous life, I did a short paper on his life and getting HIV on a goddamned transfusion is so terrible I hardly have words. Maybe his fate saved a bunch of lives in the future, when people realized that was the absolute least fun way to get AIDS and every blood donation started to get tested. Still, an absolute tragedy, either way!

There's talk Aliyah is being called up to Raw.  Which...?  I didn't expect her and Teagan Nox to get called up before Dakota Kai, Gonzalez, Shirai, Ember Moon, and a few others.  I really didn't expect Aliyah to get called up at all, given how little she's used on TV and what I've read about her work.

Agree about Grimes.  Doing a vignette about cutting his hair and beard and then... trimming up his hair and beard slightly was underwhelming.

I don't see much success coming her (Aliah's) way, but she has worked hard, waited basically her best years and seen others pass her by. I hope she gets good money out of it and will not be released for many years to come. She deserves something for all this effort.

  8. I'm watching Mid-South (81-82) and am a bit confused, as Orndorff's other arm looks relatively skinny even before the nerve injury (which bothered him during the Hogan feud, as the story goes) and even before he gained a bunch of mass with (more) steroids. Did the nerve damage actually happen (or start happening) during his football career or something?

Now Jim Ross joined this shit! That is something!... also, Killer Karl Kox being a face is also a whole lot of something.

Andre was sold twice, Heenan sold him to DiBiase for $1,000,000 and then bought him back for $100,000!

Yeah, that's actually true, but as it has been pointed out Herc ended up being sold around like a used car, so two times was actually a low estimate.

The Andre thing was one of the few actually successful business deals Heenan ended up making.

It was actually three (argument could be made for four). Herc debuted under Freddie Blassie before Slick bought half of his contracts. Then Slick later bought the remaining half.

The dude had no luck at all! And once he was on his own, after 6 months, his career started going even further downhill, until Power & Glory happened and wait for it, Slickster was back in his life! Stockholm Syndrome, much?

This reminds me of the pretty nice story nuance, as during the very beginning of the aborted Rude vs Bossman feud, Bossman handcuffed Heenan into the ringside barricade. Rude eventually came to his aid but was unable to break the chain. Now before or after this happened, Power and Glory with Slick walked to the ring and Heenan pleaded for them to help him. They did stop and Herc contemplated helping him and Slick was like "you could probably break that, right?", but they ended up just walking past him to their match. So all was definitely not forgiven, nor forgotten on Herc's part. I though that was pretty neat.

Even some of the later managerial stuff was weird, like Johnny Valiant managing Demolition for their debut before swapping him out for Fuji, Slick managing Hercules Hernandez, and Fuji managing Bob Orton in 1987.

Yeah, Slick sold Herc's contract to Heenan making Hercules the only guy in WWF history to be sold TWICE and on the latter time into slavery.

I don't remember Sivi Afa being a Heenan Family member in '87.   Anyone care to refresh my memory?

That was all of one six-man tag match, but Heenan did indeed introduce him as the third Islander. And this was cut short pretty quickly, as Tama left WWF and Haku became a King, not necessarily in that order.

  13. I've kept the workout and walking regime up the best I can ( also throughout the weekend) with Wednesday being the only total day off. Took the new profile pic just now, after well over 200 push-ups in 5 or 6 sets, shrugs with kettlebells and some lat and bicep work with resistance band, along with two sets with the powerwheel. That is about as good a pump I'm going to get on my chest at home. The weight shot up to 180, but it's just as well. I like looking ripped, but I do not enjoy being under 180 to do so.

...and you can add another 90 minute walk/jog/stairclimb cardio to this weeks routine. We'll see if this will continue next week, or not? And a short pump workout and a one hour walk on Friday, so good week overall. Much better than I thought.

Just like I said earlier, this is what we shall all pretend that I look like from now on. It's very unlikely that a better pic will emerge any time soon.

  14. Yeah, I'll be here all night for Dunne/Lorcan vs Ciampa/Thatcher!

Hudson does remind me of a young Wade Barrett, just as Wade said. Also, if Eddie Dennis was somehow able to bulk himself up naturally to look like that, he might have a chance on the states-side brands as well.

Fish's comeback hasn't yielded much success, but it might give us a match between him and Strong, so that is something.

Xia Li vs Gonzalez is going to be something. Let's see Mei Ying try her magic smoke on Raquel, I doubt the smoke would even rise high enough to reach her face.

Kacy/Kayden challenging Io/Zoey would be one hell of a match if given enough time and everyone gets to let loose as much as they can. A proper face vs face title match.
