  1. No mater what they decide to do, it's not going to be ideal. We'll all have to just be okay with it. So not sure how much it should be nit-picked. But that decision clinches the division for Cincinnati even if Baltimore beats them. Essentially The Ravens would lose the chance to win the division solely on the math. 11 wins out of 16 (Bengals if they lose) will be a better win percentage than 11 wins out of 17 (Ravens in they win). Now it's not very likely The Ravens can win without Lamar. So the result may not matter much. But the path they're taking is flawed if they go that route.

Since a common recommendation for recovery from (INSERT NAME OF VIRAL ILLNESS HERE) is to rest for 1-2 months, and these athletes clearly aren't doing that, they might all have vascular damage that could be exacerbated by a bad hit.

I have literally no idea what this insane rambling means. What viral illness needs 1-2 months of rest? How does any of that factor into the freak athletic phenomenon known as commotio cordis? Because that's what happened. Completely healthy people can suffer from this freak occurrence if taking chest impact at the exact nano second of the electrical impulse output of your heart beating. It has absolutely nothing to do with any viral anything or rest of any kind. It was a one in a million freak accident that can happen to any human (healthy or not) with chest impact.

  3. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned, but this board probably has the most unique view on what happened last night because most of us went through the Owen Hart situation in real time. This felt as close to that situation as anything ever has. And it really really seems like The NFL stance on it was the same as Vince's. The show must go on. Take 5 minutes and let's start this thing back up. I'm proud of how both coaches and all the players banded together to say this man's life is more important than a game, we aren't playing.

I'd hate to speculate too much here. But I just hope for a better outcome than what it's seeming like. I'd just point out he positives I see stemming from the terrible tragedy. Fans in the arena were super respectful through the whole ordeal. That's not a given. There are certain fan bases that might not have reacted as politely. That was encouraging to see. It's also heartwarming to see so many people donate to his charity. To go from $5k to $5million in a day is amazing. People reaching out and doing something positive when we all feel so helpless is definitely a silver lining.

As for the logistics of what The NFL does, I have no idea. I'd hope no one in the league is going to make a fuss however it shakes out. It's not important. Give them both a tie. Call it forfeit and give them both losses. Give the Bengals a win / Bills a loss because of the score at the time it ended. None of them are ideal but it's not important enough to second guess. Just make a call and move on. There is zero percent chance they try to re-play or finish this game. It's over, it's a tragedy. We gotta move on. Just decide who gets losses or ties and tell the clubs to deal with it and go forward and hope for the best for Damar.

    * - The winner must choose what title they will challenge for.  Women can choose between NXT, Raw & Smackdown.  Men can choose between NXT, WWE & Universal.

I didn't watch Raw, did the announce it this way on the show?

100% I get it from a behind the scenes - merge the titles sense, but just curious how they make sense of it in kayfabe. Every defense for almost a year has been a unified title match. But now all of a sudden if you win this major accomplishment, your prize is less than what you would get in a normal match over the last 7 months? Messy.

  5. The NY football GIANTS are in the playoffs. They're finally looking good against a bad team instead of playing down.

That Tayvon sack celebration was not a great look with Foles in so much pain. But I'll over look it since The Giants are.... IN THE PLAYOFFS!

  6. The injury is a non factor in the whole situation. He seems to be pretty mobile and healthy and not wearing any brace while doing MMA commentary. So the real sticking point is how The Elite feel / how much truth there is to the Jericho 'I wont let him come back' stuff / if he's willing to apologize and all that.

It's by no means a lock. But I think there are feelers out there. I don't think this is like his Colt grudge or his WWE grudge. I think he's wiling to let this one go. But the ball is not in his court. The ball is in TK's court / The Elite's court / the locker room's court.

I very much want it to happen. And I'm starting to see a path for it to be possible for the first time. But it's certainly not something I'm saying is a lock. Punk is super private. But him posting a comment on a post asking for everyone to shake hands and move on good indicator that he's over it all. Or at least I hope so.

Don't you think that Warner Bros. Discovery executives will notice that half the crowd disappeared in 7 months?

Oh no. You made a fast break on the topic because your original one was shot down. That's not a good sign for where this is going. But I will bite.

I'm not sure. I wouldn't expect TV executives to be "in the bubble" like us. The pay for a sport / entertainment program. I'm not sure to what extent they care about the size of the live audience (as long as it looks good on TV). Like an NFL game the network could give a shit how many people buy tickets. They just care about the TV ratings. Wrestling isn't a 1:1 for The NFL. But as long as the way it's shot makes it look good on TV (and AEW is very good at making the crowd look full & is framed well even on down houses), my guess is that it doesn't matter that much to them.

They'll want TV ratings. They'll want a loud excited rowdy crowd that looks great on TV. They'll want entertaining content. But in my opinion the amount of tickets sold isn't a very big concern to the network paying for the TV. As long as the shows come across well they probably couldn't care less if it's 8,000 or 14,000 or 3,000 or 0 with 3,000 people let in for free.

August, September, October, November, December, January, February, March... Revolution is about 6.75 months from the tear...

Just saying. Dax & Punk are tight. He wouldn't have floated that thought without Punk's blessing. Punk himself commented on a post today saying when there is an issue like The Elite & Punk one in wrestling, guys should just shake hands and let it go with "duh". Punk seemingly has the opinion of wanting to come back & let bygones be bygones. I'm not saying it's going to happen. But it's certainly on the table.

And his injury should just about be all healed up. You know wrestling inflates the length of recovery so everyone looks like Superman when they come back early. CMFTR vs The Elite would be dope if we do get it.

Warner Bros. Discovery Officials Reportedly Set To Be At January 11th AEW Dynamite

TNA ran Hammerstein in June 2014 to try and impress Spike TV executives at renewal time, and Impact was cancelled a month later

I'm kind of temped to go back and find "impressing the suits" episodes of wrestling where bigshots were in attendance

Ah more data stretching, fun lol.

WBD were in the house at the last LA Dynamite as well. Ya know since LA is where WBD is headquartered. It was the MJF shooty promo episode. Does that also count as an "impressing the suits" edition? Or could it be that if a show they pay to produce is in their city, they will go and check it out? Could that be it? Could it be that simple? Is it possible your hate boner is sensationalizing a full on nothing into a something?

    The world may never know.

  10. So two things stick out from that Dax rundown...

    1. Sure doesn't sound like he hates AEW as much as some posters were claiming lol. Talking about trying to set wrestling up for the future. How AEW can do something special with all 4 in the locker room. That sure doesn't sound like a guy that is counting down the minutes of his deal to go back to WWE like the old Dolphman claimed. Awkward.

    2. I'm with Dax here. I love that someone in the company finally said it out loud. There was a nasty incident. But this is soemthing that can be worked through. If The Bucks & Kenny actually care about AEW the company more than themselves as performers, they owe it to the company to try and get on the same page and not lose Punk. On the other side of the coin, I hope Punk can see this is a situation where he was also an asshole. He's not a victim with no blame. For as mad as he was about Hangman's line, him calling out Hangman going against the script was equally bad.

Basically I just hope Punk realizes he's turned into the thing he hated. He's 2005 HBK / HHH punching down at the younger guy that just worked Sunday Night Heat. Hangman has a bright future and you shouldn't just write him off after this hiccup like they did to Punk. And I hope The Elite put the promotion before their personal feelings. If they're really EVPs and actually care about this thing they created they nee to realize sometimes you gotta put the brand before yourself.

  11. A general response to why I think fixing NFL games is impossible, Eddie Mansfield.

The reason why these grand conspiracies fall flat for me is because it's too big with too many moving parts, and more importantly too many people involved, to be a thing. You don't think a ref would cash out a giant payday for "revealing the truth"? Humans by nature are a species of gossip. If there's a juicy secret it's going to leak. A gambling conspiracy of this magnitude would have so many people in the know, even with NDAs, someone would break that confidentiality to be the football version of Eddie Mansfield on 20/20. It's not realistic in the least to expect this organized crime level of secrecy and stone face tight lips. Especially since the HIGHEST paid NFL ref according to Google is Brad Allen at $250,000 a year. How many refs under that would spill it all for a $2 or $3 million payday?

Also those ear piece / mics they wear are a logistics thing. They can communicate and hear each other along long distances. They can communicate the jersey number of who the penalty is on. The head official can communicate the outcome of a review to the side judges who relay it to the coaches before it's announced to the audience. That helps with getting the right personnel back out onto the field and get a play called in a timely fashion.

Just because you don't understand the purpose of something doesn't mean it has to be something shady.

And finally, I don't think the NFL actually gives a shit who makes the playoffs. They are ratings proof. Thanksgiving Giants vs Cowboys this year was the highest rated regular season game of all time. Unless you think Daniel Jones is somehow a megastar ratings draw, that puts a hole in that theory. They could run Jaguars vs Seahawks in The Superbowl and they're still gonna crack 110 million viewers. It's the brand that's the draw, not the stars.

  12. Brady's deal is up this year right? And he's said he wants to play next year. But who is going to take him? He's literally the GOAT, but he just can't go anymore. What team would be improved by having him? There's a few, but probably none that are contenders and that's gonna be a sticking point for him. Are The Colts a playoff team with Brady? Washington? Does he just go where ever Sean Peyton goes? Will be interesting.

Trying to figure out the logic behind going for 2 when they're down by 29 with 6:30 left.

If you get it down to 27, that's 3 TDs with 2s & a FG vs needing 4 TDs with 1s.

It's still 4 scores, but one of them could be a FG if they kept getting TDs with 2s.

But all that ignores the fact that your QB is Russel Wilson and there's only 6 minutes left. Gonna chalk it up to trying to play it out at 100% even tho it's obvious you don't have a chance. Harder for the players to believe in not quitting on you when you're showing that you will quit on them.

As a fellow Giants fan can you please stop posting that they’ll be the five seed? The four division winners are seeded 1-4 regardless of record, and we can’t catch Dallas. So at best they’re the six seed and stuck playing against San Francisco or Minnesota.

Heres a link to NFL.com, and note the number in parenthesis by the Giants:

     https://www.nfl.com/standings/playoff-picture

Do I agree with you that the NFC South “winner” should be the 7 seed and not get a home game? Hell yeah. But that’s not reality, nor is Dallas being locked in at 4.

Ha, my bad. I had been meaning seed 6 this whole time. I think it was left over brain residue from when three were only 6 playoff teams. I knew they were locked in to second to last slot, and that used to be 5th seed. But yes 6th seed not 5th.

And Washington / Seattle / Detroit / maybe Green Bay are battling it out for the final seed which is 7 now.

    Math is hard lol.

  15. The Packers would be tied with Detroit & Seattle at 7-8 if they win. One spot outside the playoffs currently. Washington is 7-7-1. So Washington stays the 7 seed this week no matter what.

If New York gets to 9 wins they lock in the 5th seed, because if the Lions / Packers / Seahawks get to 9 wins they would have 8 losses. While The Giants will only have 7 (and a tie). If Washington gets also to 9-7-1, The Giants remain the 5 seed because of the record against each other. They went 1-0-1 against Washington. And no one can catch Dallas who has the 4 spot locked in already.

  16. The Giants loss stings but it does fill me with some hope. They put together a killer drive to tie the game and never gave up. They were only beaten by a freakishly long FG. But they showed they can hang with and maybe even beat one of the better NFC teams.

That and since every wildcard contender lost, all The Giants need to clinch is a win. A win against either the Nick Foles led Colts or a maybe already clinched and resting Eagles. I'm hoping a win against The Colts. That way they can rest Saquon & Jones in Week 18 because they'd be locked into the 5 seed no matter what.

  17. Yes the rainbow explosions morphed into the paint spatter. But similar ideas graphically.

I'm of two minds about the set. Its always exciting to see a new look. I do not like how WWE is bright a flashy LED screens EVERYWHERE. 30 foot entrance LED. Posts. Rails. Ring skirts. Its too much. It's gaudy. And I hope AEW doesn't move in that direction.

That said, I have aesthetically liked when AEW has done LED stuff in the past. Grand Slam & Forbidden Door & the original Revolution looks were all great. So bring on the lasers & LEDs baby. Let's turn this show into one long entrance for Glacier lol.

  18. I mean the laser graphics instead of the rainbow paint explosions is an upgrade visually. I just hope the color scheme isn't locked to red & blue. I will be especially annoyed if they do blue lasers for Dynamite and red for Rampage or vice verse. But if they can rotate in different schemes or pick colors other than red & blue it's all good.

Apparently WBD wants to change the name of HBO Max to just Max.

Could be mistaken but it's not a name change. They want to create a new unified merging HBO Max & Discovery Plus. Keep in mind all decisions are made by greed in Hollywood. So while HBO Max has excellent brand recognition, if there is no HBO Max anymore then no can gt it for free. You can bet your ass the new MAX won't come free with an HBO subscription. You can bet your ass the new MAX won't be free to AT&T / DirecTV customers for however many months.

It's strictly semantics to make people pay more for the same exact thing. Betting that MAX will not have live HBO airings or simultaneous on demand. Rolling back the clock, because money. You want to watch current HBO shows? Buy HBO. You want to watch previous HBO shows? Pay for MAX.

  20. That was definitely DPI on that last play. It helped The Giants win but bad reffing is bad reffing. I thought for sure it was going to be another 20-20 tie. Tense game but love how it shook out. That long drive with the multiple 10+ Barkley runs was a killer.

I think one more win gets The Giants in. Vikings are so hot and cold, but I don't see The Giants being able to stop them. Then there's The Colts. Winnable, but also one of those match ups that don't look too favorable on paper if Jonathan Taylor was healthy. So I can only hope The Eagles have the number 1 wrapped up by week 18 and everyone goes on vacation. I would absolutely take a garbage win to get into the playoffs.

Predicting Lions get the 6 spot at 10-7. Giants get the 7th spot at 9-7-1. Then The Seahawks get to 9-8 but don't get in. And Washington also doesn't get in at 8-8-1. But we'll see. I kinda hope all 4 NFC East Teams get in just for how weird that would be.
