  1. I want to make fun of the Leafs so much but the Oilers are the Oilers and the only team I'm sure we are better than right now is Calgary, who might not be able to beat a team of random people walking the streets of any Canadian town at this point.

But seriously, if the Oilers don't show some improvement this season they're going to have to blow things up again, right? Maybe not so much on the ice because you're always going to want to keep at least some of your young players, but I imagine the front office should be on stand by.

  2. I have literally never parallel parked in my entire life since the test, and almost certainly couldn't do it now.

Hah I was going to say the same thing. If I lived in the city maybe it would be different but rural life does not equal "let's make parking more difficult" very often. I literally haven't even attempted to parallel park this century.

In non-parking related endeavors... I actually got some sleep last night for the first time in like 3 days. Insomnia sucks, but it was such a relief just to get a normal human 8 hours. I was so loopy by the end of yesterday and feel so much better today.

  3. It got much harder to get a license at least in Alberta back in the late 1990's when they moved from a straight learner/s permit/full license to a "graduated license" system. Or at least so I'm told as I got in right at the end of the old method.

Now, all these years later of living in the country, I drive in the city like the AI in Grand Theft Auto games but I still have my license. Har har har.

  4. The idea that a song needs good lyrics is the first hint you're talking to someone looking to lose a bet.

I mean, I listen to as much music as anyone. And I'm just fascinated that people take high school poetry that seriously.

  5. I agree to a point actually. They always had songs that were straight 60's surf rock almost from the beginning. And I loved that about them.

Can't even express how much love I have for Surfin' Bird. The original record by The Trashmen is a fucking awesome album too.

  6. Hell early 80's Ramones went all pop too.

I wouldn't begrudge fans of early Ramones bursting into tears at the first hint of 80's keyboard effects, but I always still thought it was a catchy song.

  7. Oh God it's the "racial slurs towards white people aren't actually racial slurs" argument again.

America: showing why they are so culturally respected around the world.

This shit is the new Godwin's Law.

  8. And hey as a follow up no one but me cares about, not only does K:AG still work on my current laptop, but the damn auto patcher option actually still connects to something and works.

Given that the game came out in like 2001 and the last time I played this I was using a MILLENNIUM EDITION PC, I'm not sure which of those two things shocks me more.

Also, tracking down the official K-Mod tool took me all of 10 seconds. There are times I really love PC gaming.

  9. I can't tell you how it feels to know that beating Edmonton now, but not beating them by enough, is now grounds to cost a coach his job. Fuck me.

Also, Buck Pierce is out as starter in Winnipeg. They say they are going with Justin Goltz the rest of the year and Buck is being asked to back up/help with the offense. Considering his injuries, heading towards a player coach role is probably the best thing for the guy. He could still have a long future in football but I don't really want to see him play until he has like 18 concussions.

  10. Gratuitous Space Battles is cool but it needs an in-game scenario builder aside from the online challenges. Granted it might be the easiest game to mod this side of Kohan: Ahriman's Gift* so if you do any digging at all you can figure out how to make more in an afternoon.

Feels like a game really tailor made for the hardcore PC gamer. It's really simple stuff but fun. Kind of like lego. With explosions.

*Man, even the mere mention of that old bastard game makes me want to re-install it. Shit was amazing. I made my own mod back in the day where I added like 40 units to the game and changed a bunch of little things I wanted changed, then I built a bunch of custom AI's. They put out their own unit editing software and you could literally build computer AI's in notepad just by tweaking a dozen numbers. Nerd heaven. I wonder if it even runs in Windows 7 or if it's one of those things you have to wait for GOG to fix.
