  1. Honestly I don't think Sting's send off could have gone much better.

Won't lie, his suprisie AEW debut may have been the last time I genuinely marked out like a little kid, and it's good and right to see him ride off into the sunset as the conquering hero.

I also started on Helldivers II with playing with a buddy of mine last night. The game isn't easy at all.

I do want to go back and try to Platinum Helldivers on PS4 though.

    A few very general pointers:

    - You have to play understanding your character is an expendable grunt. You're not Master Chief, you're one of the rando scrubs that gets dropped into an XCOM mission. Unless you are a genuinely exceptional player, running around like a solo hero tends to not do as much good for the team as sticking together and working as a unit. When in doubt just follow whoever you think is the strongest player and back them up.

    - As you go up in difficulties it becomes more important to focus down bug holes and robot production facilities. Get in there and practice throwing your grenades because every hole you plug prevents a lot of spawns, on top of earning experience for clearing sub-objectives.

    - Early on get the Expendable Anti-Tank weapon which will help with large targets until you can eventually upgrade to something like the Railgun or Autocannon or whatever down the line.

    - Don't bother with the minefield upgrades, spend elsewhere.

    - You don't have to engage everything you see, and in fact it becomes detrimental to do so on the higher difficulties. If a rando patrol seems to have not spotted you it's totally fine to let it be. Enemies get stronger in an area the closer the mission timer ticks towards 0 so eventually spending a ton of time fighting for no reason isn't actually helping you that much.

    - If a mission timer is going to hit zero before you extract, make sure to throw out every stratagem you have since you're going to lose access to them anyway. Might as well spend your skills while you can even if it seems suboptimal or uneccessary at the moment.

  3. I've spent most of my time in Helldivers 2 fighting the bugs, went over to the automatons for a bit and you really do have to play pretty differently against the two enemy types. I tend to run shotgun/attack drone backpack on the bugs, but against the robots my play is the Ballistic Shield and the one handed SMG you get on tier 3 of the requisitions. Beyond that, I've dumped my first couple ship upgrades into turrets since those are pretty much always good anywhere.

  4. The bigger thing that bugs me about Kevin Hart in the role is that Roland is the stoic straightman in an otherwise absurd universe. Hard to think of anyone that is less of a stoic straightman than Kevin Hart.

Otherwise, whatever. It's a video game movie I hope people enjoy it.

  5. So yeah, Helldivers 2. The jump in how missions feel when the difficulty goes from Medium to Challenging moves the game from "this is okay I guess" into "holy fuck this rules". That concludes my day 1 experience. I'm level 5, I stink, but this game is fun. Playing solo sucks but luckily I haven't hit any toxic idiots in random matchmaking yet.

  6. I got bored with MK1 relatively fast compared to 11. If you're not a lab monkey there's just nothing to do in single player by comparison. Online died down to the same 3000 people that ruin every fighting game within the first month.

A studio of that size launching a multiplayer title with no cross platform in 2023 is just insane.

I, for one, don't like that the ad algorithm on this board sees me as a late 40's male-identifying wrestling fan and thus has decided I need an Asian or Eastern European mail order bride.  Or prostitute, or whatever.

Time for me to disable ad block by the sound of it

I feel pretty fortunate that my closest friends are the same ones I’ve been playing games with since Goldeneye. We all got Xboxes, Halo, and would bring tvs over to a friends house to hook everything up to a LAN. And then lately it’s been Dota or Valorant or, briefly, D4, but now we have a solid 4 of us that are straight up hooked on Helldivers 2. There’s a few others who aren’t into it and that’s fine because they’re working on playing Path of Exile or FF14 or whatever. And I’m sure we’ll wind up with a group of 4 to play Last Epoch since we do crave some Diablo action that isn’t a shitshow. I’m sure we’d all play Enshrouded together if setting up a private server wasn’t a total mess.

But for now, HD2 is where it’s at, although I’m kinda looking forward to Last Epoch, but I’m going to wait until a couple of us that aren’t playing HD2 get it and can vouch for it.

I've never played Helldivers 1 but I just saw a review of it today, and honestly it looks like Remnant and Starship Troopers had a baby, which is fucking awesome. Added it to my wishlist.

  9. I've gotta say, as a super latecomer to the modern Hitman trilogy, I expected it to be good but not this good. I haven't had this much fun with any game that used stealth mechanics of any kind in years. Almost all the maps having several different "stories" you can go through gives it a ton of replayability, and that's not even getting to if you play on the hardest difficulty where you can't load back mistakes. Almost all the maps are genuinely fun to explore. It's wild how the game can alternate between extremely serious and deeply unserious based totally on how you feel like playing at the moment, and both absolutely work within the same space. If IOI's next game is supposedly the liscenced James Bond game I'm all in on seeing what these people do with that, because they certainly have all the tools already to make that completely sick.

  10. Sting is actually out of his fucking mind doing balcony dives at 64 years old like 4 weeks before his retirement match. It's reckless, stupid, all that. I fucking love it. The true spirit of pro wrestling.

That Darby tope/side slam bump was so fucking great. I swear to god Darby is made of rubber. I think he's probably my favourite current wrestler.

  11. Hitman 3 World of Assassination is on sale so I grabbed it. One of the strangest, most confusing store pages on Steam in terms of figuring out what the hell you're actually buying. I had to ask on the forums to make sure I was buying what I actually wanted.

Anyway, man, this game is really fucking good. And I'm not good at it. I think I'm too stupid to be a secret agent assassin in real life.
