Question: Is Floyd in the running for greatest boxer of all time?

You can throw his name out there but no one would ever say he is the GOAT
Better question: Has there ever been a bigger divide between the biggest name in boxing and everyone else than right now, possibly including the Ali era? Although that probably stops the instant there's a viable American heavyweight contender.

I think you would have to go back to 1967-68 WBA heavyweight title tournament. No matter how good and underrated some of those guys were, they weren't Muhammad Ali. And Frazier was still considered a substitute. Tyson at least had Holyfield and you could see they were going to get matched up.

  2. Has Marie even seen Walt Jr. since finding out what was going on?

Her thought process at that time was probably "The cops are going to bust into the house/car wash and take Skyler and Walt Jr. in for questioning.  It would be better for Walt. Jr. to hear this from family."

Which she could have done BEFORE Hank supposedly caught Walt. She tried to play hero when the storm was going to come down.

  3. Marie really isn't a good person (at least as far as innocence goes). Hubris has really been the downfall of so many Breaking Bad characters, and I think it's the case with Marie in "Ozymandias". When she walked into the car wash, I don't think she had a proper fallout plan. She thought once Skyler tells Walt Jr., then the mending process can begin. If she was a good guy, she should have completely stayed out of it once Walt and Skyler went the blackmail route. Her involvement makes it worse, especially for Walter Jr. I mean the kid is a teenager. So how were both of them going to explain a completely absurd series of events with "we didn't tell you because we were trying to protect you and know what's best for you"? For a person who was sick and tired of being lied to, she did a whole bunch of that because of her belief in knowing what's best for people.

  4. Floyd has a grand total of 1 bout at the super welterweight limit since coming out of retirement #2 and that was against the guy whose biggest success came at super lightweight and welterweight. And before that, the other super welterweight bout was against a man whose prime was at welter and below. Are you noticing a trend here?

Anyway, DiBella knows that Martinez's days are numbered. Even he was smart enough to admit that he wouldn't match Sergio with Golovkin. Sergio might fight some subpar tuneup competition before losing to Golovkin or just bow out gracefully. Plus, Sergio hasn't made 154 since early 2009. It ain't going to be easier now that he is rapidly closing in on 40.

Martinez almost lost to Martin Murray and Golovkin isn't even on the radar. The Cold War isn't stopping any sellable fight other than Pacquiao.

I don't think those fights are necessarily "sellable", I just mentioned those fighters as being good fighters at or near Floyd's weight.

Floyd is a welterweight who just fought at a catchweight. Those guys aren't welterweights.

I thought Alvarez had the right idea first by disrespecting Floyd to try and get into his head. Throw him off and get him all shook. But it never happened and he never fought with any killer instinct. Floyd coasted as usual (give or take a couple of flurries). The first few rounds Alvarez was testing the waters so to speak. Only way you're ever going to beat Floyd is come out guns blazing.

I hate to say it, but as much as I hate Floyd I really think there probably is no one who can beat him. He's going to retire undefeated and it's going to drive everyone nuts.

The Boxing Cold War prevents any of the other good fighters at or near his weight from fighting him.

    Such as........

Because you can't mean someone like Mike Alvarado.

  7. I think the ending that would appease most would be Walt and Jesse reuniting and/or Walt sacrificing himself to save Jesse.

I'm sure I'm pretty much the only one pissed at Jesse for becoming a rat but deep down I still want to like him so them reuniting or something similar would make me happy.

I wouldn't be that shocked if it happened. Walt could have let Hank, Gomie, and Jesse scour the desert or chase him down before Todd and the crew showed up. The fact that Walt tried to call it off makes me believe that Walt survives the shootout in order to drag out a mea culpa from Jesse for ratting him out. Jesse doesn't do it and gets offed.

  8. The BETTER CALL SAUL spin-off is offically a go. Kinda figured AMC would go in for it, what with THE KILLING cancelled again and LOW WINTER SUN dying a slow, miserable death. This time next year, they were set to have no shows with any cache beyond THE WALKING DEAD. Picking this spin-off up was a no-brainer.Now we'll see if they can make it work.

Folks talk about low ratings like it's black and white.

I just saw a commercial for Ron Howard's RUSH, and if I didn't know better, I'd accuse it of stealing SPEED RACER's plot.

I really get the feeling Rush is going to be one of those movies that the trailer does absolutely no justice to.   Take a look at the early Rotten Tomatoes reviews:  100%, 20 reviews in, most of them saying it could be the best sports movie of all time.

The first trailer was great, but the TV spots are bad.
