Did anyone else know they were remaking Scarface? Apparently Russell Crowe was up for the lead, but now they want to go with a Latino actor.
Yeah since I brought up the idea of an Adolfo Constanzo/Sara Aldrete type movie when Yates was announced as the director.

This may or may not be good news, but Michael Green (Heroes, Green Lantern) is rewriting the script that Jack Paglen (who wrote Transcendence) penned. Green is also suppose to write the Blade Runner sequel.
Now something I know is definitely bad news.....

June in the UFC is the August of professional boxing. It wouldn't be the first time a UFC PPV in June has gotten screwed over. Every June PPV in the TUF era has stunk when it came to star power and card depth.

He said it himself that it was between Mendes and Swanson and now just Mendes since Cub was given a fight already. I don't think he has any illusions of any other options on the table.

Aldo is already training so I guess they would have contacted him by now. It doesn't sound like he is too keen on a rematch from an interview I've read, but he is not in a position to negotiate since 169 was far from gangbusters in terms of buys.

Can Renan Barao vs. Raphael Assuncao make this card?
I intentionally left that out. You don't go to the MGM with that fight. Hell, you would do that at the Marquee ballroom inside the hotel. I know Aldo and Barao are the same level of draw, but Barao/Assuncao is a fight you do in Northeast Brazil on FS1.

Aldo/Mendes II since JDS trains at Nova Uniao would make the most sense, but they probably would have announced that bout already if it was happening.

Dos Santos/Miocic (or any replacement bout) isn't a big enough co-main event to being doing all that. They need the help in May when everyone has spent their money on Pac/Bradley II and Mayweather/Maidana. Cotto/Martinez is two later weeks after 173.

State Property is probably the worst non-MST3K/RiffTrax film I've seen and easily the worst thing associated with the Jay-Z brand. However, it deserves at least 5% because of the Cindy McPhearson reference on the Boondocks. It's only a legit, plausible crime/gangster film to an eight year old white girl living in the suburbs.

I think simmons only cared about mma when brock was in ufc.
When Carolla was on talking boxing (either him or Sal), he talks about MMA taking over boxing. This was months after Brock lost to Overeem IIRC when Pacquiao got robbed against Bradley. He is one of those guys who believes boxing is dying and raves about every big boxing fight. He doesn't know any better.

Simmons probably isn't an MMA fan, because he tends to wear his loves on his sleeve and he's never talked about MMA. I'd bet it was just decided that MMA wasn't worth covering on Grantland.
Plus, you have to wonder about UFC being on Fox and how maybe ABC/ESPN/Grantland might not want to promote it.
I don't think it's that since ESPN has boxing (there is a "World Heavyweight" title bout in primetime on main ESPN coming up), and Grantland has jackshit on boxing. Plus, Simmons talks boxing (Floyd, Pac, and Triple G at least) way more than MMA.

I actually didn't even notice that, but that's fantastic. If there were ever an NBA-ish logo made for UFC, that silhouette would be near the top of the list.
Yeah, it was on the lower middle part of his banner.

One thing that I am surprised isn't called more is when someone is laying in their opponent's guard and digging their head into someone's chin. There are times when the guy puts a little bit too much momentum and slams their head into the chin. Refs don't do and say shit about it. We're a couple of blatant steps away from some IVC shit.

I wasn't a LOTR/Hobbit fan until well after the LOTR run of movies was years over. Maybe all the way up to a few months before An Unexpected Journey. Games of Thrones, mainly because it's television, is WAY easier to follow that's it not funny. Plus, I don't like the added frustration of each movie leading into another. I hate it with the Hobbit and Hunger Games. Most of everything in Game of Thrones is resolved at the end of the season save for Dany's storyline obviously. Plus, the gory violence and grotesque amount of nudity is far from PG-13 fantasy.

I don't think that's really the issue since boxing has experienced quite a resurgence in television ratings in the last 2 1/2 years. Add in the fact that two Floyd bouts did 3.1 million buys in a calendar year while WWE did around 3.2 million. The talent is definitely out there and better than half the crap currently on Grantland. The guys from The Cruelest Sports will probably do it for free. Given the quality of the stuff I've read on Grantland, I am perfectly fine with those guys staying where they are.
Hopefully, this is the same Scott Christ of Bad Left Hook who I follow on Twitter. He doesn't like many things. Quite a sourpuss.
