  1. I will say that there's a world of difference between Murphy doing AIDS jokes and Tosh having gay baby sex. One is playing off the fears and prejudices of the times, the other is wink-wink in tone.

That's not what I was getting at, but isn't the whole premise of Murphy's bit in Delirious ("Sure...you're not a homosexual") kinda wink-wink as well? Also, you guys already went into a multi page diatribe about Woody Allen and every creep in Hollywood. I would say people messing with infants is a fear.

  2. The whole homophobic slant to Eddie comedy is either funny or pitiful now that everyone knows he has a thing for trannies.

It should also be noted that he had Paul "No, I am not gay at all" Mooney writing for him. Mooney was also his opening act during the "Raw" tour. That within itself is funny.

Now that I think about it, Paul Mooney's stuff on "Race" makes Raw look like a Sinbad Star Search bit.

  4. Meltzer stated the same thing about setting a precedent for LW division pay on last night's Observer show. Zuffa doesn't have a problem paying Melendez, but paying him much higher than the other top guys without a belt makes zero business sense. There is no guarantee he will be champion. Plus, it puts Zuffa in a rough situation should he lose his next title shot. Paying someone who is 0-2 in title fights and not a real draw $200k+ (a random figure Meltzer tossed out) per fight is going to make Zuffa try to restructure his contract at some point. So if we didn't hit this road now, we definitely would have eventually.

  5. I actually watched UFC 169 instead. Damn that Trujillo/Varner fight was great. Recorded this show and will watch it eventually. How was the Jacare fight?

I thought it was interesting. It was more like a couple of his longer fights in Strikeforce. I thought it was pretty clear (before and early on in the fight) Carmont wasn't going down easily. Jacare still has some improvements to make in terms of technique. Carmont is very good defensively as a striker and easily evaded some of the punches Jacare was pushing. Jacare made a couple good adjustments, but clearly should not take a fight with Machida. Jacare is an orthodox puncher who needs to get inside on people to hit them. His reach isn't that good. Machida would be a stylistic nightmare for him unless Jacare could land the best hooks of his career.

So the purpose of Cormier talking shit about Cummins on Fox Sports 1 (shown last night) was what?   I mean if there is some "beef" between the two then maybe 5% of the MMA community know about it and/or care about it.

It reminded me of the stuff HBO used to do in the early to mid 90s. It was.....different. A little bizarre but different.

  6. It took Hendo a few weeks or so to work out a deal and take a cut.

Melendez being 1-1 doesn't exactly help his case no matter how close the fight with Benson was. Add in the fact that Pettis isn't exactly rolling in the dough. If you pay Gilbert a handsome sum then Mike Roberts is going to ask for a ton of money for Pettis somewhere down the road. It only makes sense.

  7. I was very skeptical at first, but it's a good, solid movie if you can get past a few stereotypical biopic cliches. Harrison Ford actually gave the best performance because he turned the obligatory mystical benevolent white person role into an actual human being. If he couldn't do that, then the movie would have sucked.

  8. There are no other top LHWs training for a fight that would already would in camp besides the main eventers of the London card. That is unless you really want to see OSP or Nikita Krylov vs. Cormier.

  9.

I really have no sympathy for fighters that piss hot for marijuana at this point.  Yeah I don't think it should be penalized as much as PED's, but every fighter should know better.

Agreed.  You'd think after Pat Healy smoked the world's most expensive joint that MMA fighters might have learned.

That award would have went to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., who originally had a $900,000 fine before it was reduced to $100k.
