  1. I'm not a MMA fan and I have no idea who this Rhonda/Carano fight is for, but props to them for the grift.  And like @Elsalvajeloco said, who the hell is getting interested in this due to a one time run in on a wrestling show?

It's just funny to me that, in my lifetime, I've seen the following progression of MMA in the US:

    1. Barely-skilled human cockfighting/Gracie grift
    2. Some semblance of acceptance of being a real sport while also running successful reality TV show
    3. Uninteresting billion dollar corporate content generator
    4. Streamer-grifting freakshow

Note: UFC is at #3, Netflix is at #4.

I think hand-drawn checks were one of those things that were still legal in the US until like 2005 or whenever they passed the digital check law

The trick was finding someone who would actually honor one

A high school teacher used to tell us you could create a check out of a napkin or a lasagna noodle and it would be legal, as long as it had the account number, routing number, and signature.  But yeah, this was the late 80s/early 90s.

  3. Out running today, an older gentleman yelled to me YOU BRINGIN THAT HIGH SCHOOL LOOK BACK, MAN!  YOU LOOKIN GOOD!

I don't know if that was about my running attire (tank top and running shorts with built-in compression shorts) or he was saying I look like I'm 18, but I'll take any encouragement I can get.

All three of them were only pushed so far by Tony Khan.

Black and Miro didn’t want to do jobs.  Khan has proven that if you work with him, he’ll work for you in the end.  Brody was the HoB’s designated job guy, now he’s solidly upper midcard.  Look how many jobs Fletcher and Willow did at the start and look at where they are now.

In the cases of Jade and Hobbs, they just really wanted to go to WWE.

AEW has a weirdly bad track record with people who come in from MMA. Dan Lambert, Paige Van Zant, Jake Hager... perhaps it's for the best that Demetrious Johnson only ever fought Kenny Omega in Street Fighter 5, on Twitch.

Maybe MMA has a disproportionate amount of shitty people.  Like maybe folks who have dedicated their lives to their ability to hurt other people might be more likely to be trash human beings than other people.  Just doing some half ass Saturday morning Sydney M. Basil armchair shrink work, but maybe flipping that switch in your brain to make it cool to just fuck somebody else up regularly, eventually that switch stays in the on position and ruins your judgement in other aspects of life.  Well, that and CTE.

I'm sorry - but there's no comparison to what she said compared to what he said.

    IMG-4082.jpg

I said it before and I'll say it again - it was a completely cuntish thing to say.

I guess the 4, 5, or 15 different qualifications I made in the two paragraphs I wrote weren't enough.  I didn't say they compare.  I went out of my way to say he's acting like a complete asswipe and went too far.  BUT this person chose to start shit.  Nobody made her talk shit on him.  Way too many people are comfortable with dunking on others on social media with perceived impunity and it's garbage behavior.  Again, did he go too far?  Absolutely.  But is he allowed to clap back in some form when some rando talks shit on him?  Sure.  It's just funny to me that everybody wants to score some internet points by publicly shit talking, but then "it's "oh no, the consequences of my actions!" when it turns around on them.

    To reiterate:

Was she wrong for talking shit?  Yes.

Was Ricochet wrong for clapping back in an outsized, inappropriate way?  Also yes.

    Does everyone suck here?  Absolutely.

I'm just going assume that TK's bid was a troll job since he was 1.something billion under everyone else.

I’ve read it could have been a ploy to get a look at WWE’s books (sort of rule where a serious bid gets access, I don’t know, I’m not Big Business Jones here), which is diabolical if true.

Not a Nazi but he did tag up with Skull Von Krus on that one Raw back in 93. So Nazi adjacent?

Well the whole company is Nazi adjacent now, so Lombardi was just ahead of his time

  9. Random notes:

Edge is an old guy on steroids and is built like a golf tee.  He needs to burn every pair of skinny jeans he owns.

    HOLEEEEEEEE FUUUUCK Mina almost died.

Mark Davis is low key one of the best workers in AEW.  His selling alone is like nobody else's...like a still dangerous wounded animal.  He's fucking GREAT.  He also likes Run the Jewels.  A+ dude all around.

Swerve becoming EVP and abusing his power, then winning the world title because of it, plays right into my "Hangman goes back on his word because WE NEED HIM TO" story.

Yeah, Okada shading Takeshita every chance he gets is amazing.  He probably ends his lovemaking with "I lasted a good 10 minutes....UNLIKE TAKESHITA!"

Swapping out "FATHER" for "ASSHOLE" on Christian's tron is tremendous and got a LOL out of me.

Danielson and Excalibur frantically trying to get the Storm storyline straight during Ospreay's entrance was hilarious.

I've only caught the smallest amount of Ricochet's social media output, the previous bit his whole "yeah I hated working in WWE" deal from a couple months back and even then you could see how he started sensible enough (hating said former job) but by the end it was sort of getting away from him where he was starting to say stuff that made one question all of it. He seems to be the sort where it can start to snowball on him once he gets going and hopefully this going so off the rails and ugly serves as a bit of a wake-up call to him where he can maybe recognize that fact and now aware can address it.

I think the main issue for him is the amount of hate his wife Samantha Irvin got after leaving the WWE.  I mean it has gotten past the tribalist part of this to the point she is getting tons of death threats online.  So yeah I get why he has a strong hatred for the IWC.

But what he should do is get off social media because he is just lumping everyone when he shouldn't.

Yeah, this is the thing.  He's apparently had a horrible time of it from the WWE tribalists going after both him and his wife for the sin of daring to be happier not working there.  But the way he's reacted to all of it, just being an outsized offensive shit, is really stupid.

He shouldn't have come at that woman with MS the way he did.  But both parties can be wrong here.  As much as he was an absolute, indefensible fuckwad for saying what he did, nobody twisted her arm to go shit on him on social media, either.  She made the decision to jump on the Twitter garbage train and go ahead and talk shit on the guy.  To publicly dunk on someone, hey, maybe be ready for that person to say some shit back.  To paraphrase one of my favorite films, she probably didn't expect Ricochet to react that way, but she had to expect a reaction.  In my own meaningless opinion, this falls under the statute of "everyone sucks here," subsection "don't start none don't want none."

  11. Some work days are so shitty, I can't help but remember my boss from my old job.  We were in another city doing tear-down for the office of a subsidiary our company had shut down, and we were driving someplace.  There's roadwork going on and he just looks over at the city worker who's holding a flag and directing traffic, gives a wistful sigh, and says something like "you know, some days I'm really jealous of the flag guy.  He has nothing to worry about, just come to the job and wave that flag, and then go home."  Yeah, I think about that a lot.

Meanwhile, just imagining if AEW had a Texan heel around to scoff at the idea of a dude from Virginia trying to make the Texas Death Match his thing

Nowadays, aren't most Texans apt to be more "all hat, no cattle" than guys from anywhere else?  All I can think of (because I'm watching a Bin Laden documentary) is Bush Jr's cowboy bullshit ("we'll smoke em out!"..."we have a saying in Texas...").  That dude had a lot of John Wayne bluster for a nepo baby from New England.

I'd say let this play out. Hangman isn't coming out on Wednesday as a full heel and challenging of the title ASAP.  I think Swerve is going to win the title, and that will be too much for Hangman to handle, since he cannot win it from him.

To build on that idea: this new heel Swerve is more evil, violent, and dangerous than ever.  He wins the belt and just kills all the faces.  Nobody can handle Uber Swerve.  Hangman then has to go back on his word because we need him to.

The Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Formula One Grand Prix that were scheduled for next month are to be cancelled because of the war in the Middle East. That got me thinking about WrestleMania 43, can you imagine if it was in Saudi Arabia this year? Surely (and don't call me Shirley) even WWE wouldn't try to have run it this year. Where elsewhere on short notice? Try crawling back to New Orleans?

Oh man, the sheer level of schadenfreude I would experience could power a city.

Don't love both Willow and Lena Kross working double duty at the PPV when there are so many women seemingly getting left off the card, but I understand the story they are telling with Willow overextending herself.

Hopefully it's the tag straps that get dropped and we get Hayter, Windsor, Bayne, and Kross beating the piss out of each other every week.

Yeah, both the trios and women’s tag belts being held by singles champs is a waste.  Use those belts to create stars.

Christ. Coach is really going to book Hangman to lose and repeat one of the worst mistakes in the company’s history.

I hope not, but if they do, I have faith they have a good story planned.  TK is a better booker than he was then, and besides, Cody booked that shit himself.

On a side note, god damn, Persephone is a star.  She needs one of those two promotion deals.

Further music related, when can we call a moratorium on every fucking movie trailer poorly remixing popular songs?

Oh lord if I hear one more girl whisper-singing/seal-singing/babyvoice-singing an old pop song in a creepy way, I'm going to shoot my TV.
