Just saw Failure play for the first time since 1998. Incredible show. House of Blues was packed, too! If only they drew crowds like this they might've stuck around.
They played damn near all of Magnified and Fantastic Planet -- 2 hours of awesomeness. Failure is probably my favorite band of all time and it was probably the best they've ever sounded. And ... They announced a new album on the way!
And, it looked like they didn't hate each other. That's good.

I hate how every Sheamus match ends with Sheamus near death then brogue kick of doom out of nowhere! Boring.
The undercard is too predictable and missable. Rusev? Repeat. Bo Dallas? Repeat. Sandow silliness? Repeat. Rhodes /Rybaxel? Repeat. That's an hour you can skip and you miss nothing.

I can't believe Balon Greyjoy is still alive. I want that damn Kingsmoot!

This is the greatest. 'Merica can't handle a fighting game character that tucks.Have they revealed if Poison is a pre-op or post-op transsexual? Um asking for a friend...
Poison Entry on Street Fighter Wiki. Street Fighter IV's producer Yoshinori Ono, when asked in an interview about the matter, stated "Let's set the record straight: in North America, Poison is officially a post-op transsexual. But in Japan, she simply tucks her business away to look female."
I did not know that. Is this even addressed in the game?

I got it. New characters are fun (Hugo and Rolento are old faves) but Poison is a little too risqué. I guess its not a shock with Cammy around but her bend over entrance is a bit much.
Exactly, spending money on Ultra makes no sense.
I have Arcade, so the upgrade to Ultra is miniscule. I was just curious of the consensus. I am very much a casual street fighter player. If you don't know the differences you shouldn't buy Ultra.
Ultra Combo Double is a good idea, but everything else seems the same. I do like the idea of paying only 15.99 instead of having to pay for a whole new game, which is what usually happens.
Of course, I own a SFIV arcade stick.

She's so close that Martin is going to die before she gets there.
TBH he could go at any moment.
it'd be the ultimate GRRM move if he offed himself before finishing.

And once again my white hot hatred of Cena's stupid OVERCOME ALL ODDS character was born anew.
Y'all are nuts. I hate the Cena character as much as all of you, but this match actually builds so much sympathy for Cena that even I was rooting for him by the end.
I don't really care about "business decisions" or "leaving money on the table" or whatever reasons Brock should've won. In the context of this match, it was perfect.
Now, the gif we need is the first flying knee where Brock does a 360 after he hits the ropes.

Maleficent was great.

Finally watched Hunger Games 2 last night. 1st half dragged a ton, but the actual games were interesting, with the conspiracy to escape and all. The ending was pretty sudden and we had to rewind and watch it again to understand.
Also, is this the President's first tyrrany? He's making rookie mistakes on how to rule and keep revolution down.

What's the definitive Evolution match? Best one I could think of was the Goldberg Elimination Chamber at Summerslam 2003.

What is the definitive Evolution match? Not necessarily a 6-man, but that would help.
My son and I are watching old stuff to get hyped for Payback. We watched the Shield debut match at TLC against Ryback / Team Hell No (which was great except for Rollins's sick bump - it made him look dumb, which is against his character nowadays; he could've just missed a dive).
Best I came up with was the Goldberg Elimination Chamber at Summerslam 2003(?), but no Batista. Hmm.

My daughter went to orientation at the University and we had a talk about so-called "nice guys."
Its going to be hell sending her to that shark tank.
She's got a good head on her shoulders, but there are some real freaks out there. And run of the mill douchebags, too, I guess.
I get to do this again in 3 years.

Watched I Saw the Devil for the second time last night, showing my teenagers what I thought was the best movie on Netflix. Still is. Just turns the whole "revenge movie" on its ear and features just unrelenting badassery. And the ending is pretty boss. Love this movie.

A favorite memory of Austin Aries was on the short-lived ROH show on HDNet. He was wrestling a very green Kenny Omega I think and it was very obvious that Austin was wrestling for two people there, just throwing himself into Omega's offense (and not at all HBK-Hogan levels). Just made the kid look tremendous despite Omega's obvious inexperience.
Plus, he is the greatest man who ever lived, I guess.

If they strip Bryan of the title, can they give it to Luke Harper?

So when do they bother killing off Balon? I mean, shouldn't that have happened long before Joffrey dies?

What's Theon's mission next week? Surely we're not going to Winterfell next week, right?

I'm gonna keep spitballing here. What is a movie that you should probably watch once and never watch again, because it's too disturbing/traumatising? I brought up Jacob's Ladder on here before and the closest thing to that I could think of was Monster. I can watch crazy, sick shit like Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer again, but with Monster I only needed the one.
Requiem for a Dream.
I can't agree. I know a lot of people feel that way, but I re-watch that every so often.
I would hate to never watch the masterclass put on by Ellen Burstyn again. And, if you can detach enough, watching Aronofsky never gets old.
He does commit a similar sin as Von Trier, in the sense that much of the movie leans on the simple empty naive stupid prettiness of all the lead characters to generate sympathy. But he uses that device in a more fable-like way. Like,
"here is the beauty and naive idealism of youth which human society worships.
Now here is how fucking stupid and weak and smashable the beauty and naive idealism of youth is.
DON'T WORSHIP THE BEAUTY AND NAIVE IDEALISM OF YOUTH!!!"
It's actually a moral worth revisiting every so often.
There's also just so much more to be impressed by in terms of technique.
Well, OK, yeah, I agree. I've watched it more than once, but sometimes just to watch someone else who hadn't seen it yet squirm.
But I didn't NEED to see it again. Went to see it in the theater when it came out and felt so utterly destroyed afterward. I had plans for the evening but I just had to go home and go to bed and call my mom in the morning.

And, boy, I couldn't give a fuck less about the Prolethians.
See, I love the Prolethians. Or rather, I look forward to Helena coming back and killing all of them.

Orphan Black makes me say "Damn!" at least once a week.
That's bad ass.
There's a good central mystery, and the pace is breakneck. All the characters seem real, and of course, the acting is off the charts.
And Felix is awesome.

I still think this season of Orphan Black is the best thing on TV right now.

I think he ought to crush Batista and steal his soul (and the Batista Bomb). Anything to get him to stop doing the spear before he breaks his neck (like everyone else who used it as a finisher).

Went to Warped Tour 2014 yesterday. If you watch the webcast, you can see me in the Bad Rabbits crowd. My 15-year old daughter and I go every year (since 2011). She loves practically every band that plays, and I'm the parent that's designated to go. I was lucky that Bad Rabbits were playing.
All told, we saw 11 bands. There was a sign language interpreter for Devil Wears Prada and a shopping cart in the mosh pit for Ice Nine Kills. I'm somewhat baffled by the karate moves being employed in mosh pits these days -- spinning kicks seem a bit silly to me.
It seems to me that in all these metalcore bands (and, as an aside, as a metalhead myself, I cannot get into these metalcore bands at all. I just don't get it.) have an older member who looks like he should be in another band. This older member plays lead guitar and often sings the "clean" vocals. I'm guessing he writes all the songs and the other members just look the warped tour part. But every metalcore band seems to have one. Just an observation.
My daughter had a blast. I loved Bad Rabbits. They seem destined for much better things than the Warped Tour. I'm sunburned all to hell today despite all our precautions. We were allowed one bottle of water and they had a free refilling station. Less people dropped dead from heat exhaustion this year than other years. I guess that's progress.
