Is Fit Finlay a hoss?
No. Excellent choice.
For the purposes of this exercise we will definite hoss as, uh, Meng and above.

The Doink clips got me wondering, who is the best non-hoss squash match wrestler?
I’d give a vote to Kevin Sullivan, I think. His Nitro/WCWSN squashes were usually good for 2 minutes of total carnage.

Yano/Ishii was so, so good. Ishii continues to be the MVP of the whole damn thing and really deserves the NJPW equivalent of the Hall of Pain run one day where he levels up and kills everyone clean as a sheet for 6 months.

That shirt is both the greatest and the W*ING’iest thing I’ve ever seen

I forget where I asked this before, but why hasn't WWE shown interest in Toro Yano? Okada he is not, but his character work is great, he's always entertaining as hell. I feel like he's what Vince *thinks* Nakamura is and could embrace a comedy Tajari or Kenzo Suzuki-like character.
Also Doink was getting some love near the end of last month. Rumble 93 in Sacramento was my first live show EVER. Doink vs. Jim Powers was the opening dark match before I knew what a dark match was. I walked to my seats so confused, as this was NOT a match Sean Mooney had brought up on event center. Doink won with his awkward looking calf submission. I feel like that move was associated as his finisher for a quick minute, but don't ever recall seeing him use it on TV, and have seen it MAYBE once or twice since then, ever.I read this too quickly and inferred that you were suggesting that Vince hire Yano and put him in the Doink costume.
...which is the best idea I’ve heard in a long time.

With the TNT premiere coming up, I think the real question is
Does Punk own any white button-downs?

Or left a Crow between him and the door.
Joker Sting was money. It’s disappointing but possibly not surprising that WWE Sting was the worst Sting. That 2K Sports commercial “got” Sting more than the actual company did. And, you know, him just being older and unable to do much.

I think Orton does feel fresh-ish as a challenger and there’s a lot of history here to pull from between both of them and with Orton’s last couple of years of non-involvement.
It just sucks that Rollins/Brock is the other match. Both of these feels like hour 1 or hour 2 title matches while the $realmainevent tops the show.
Its a good year for a Rock match or something.

I’m actually glad it wasn’t Ricochet. Nothing screams uncool like a 2019 endorsement from the Kliq. Rollins is already well established as decidedly uncool.
Ricochet needs an endorsement from motherfucking Blitzkrieg

It’s amazing how “just a guy” guys like Hogan, Cena and Flair come across compared to Austin.

I miss when WWE returned to MSG every two years: WrestleMania X, Survivor Series 1996, SummerSlam 1998, Royal Rumble 2000 and Survivor Series 2002. I also miss the distinctive entrance in the stands. Shame that's not used now.
Arena standardization sucks. As a relatively (last decade) new MSG attendee, I can’t tell you how disappointed I was to walk in and discover that it....looks just like every other arena in the country.
I get the reason behind it, but I wish arenas would take a cue from baseball and get some character back.

A few 0 WAR pro wrestler nominees from my view. My definition is made it to the Show, possibly even for an extended period, but with no real plus tools and no lasting impact. We are shooting for total fungibility:
Devon Storm
Bobby Walker
Primo Colone
Ted Dibiase Jr

Annoyed it took so long for Christian to win a world title in WWE and how short it was. Second reign as well. The WWE Championship is the world title you want to win in WWE. Christian is overdue a WWE Hall of Fame induction as well.
The reunion show now makes a lot more sense to me seeing that it’s in Tampa. Wrestlers living in Tampa is as wrestling as staying at the Marriott and working out at Golds

Bryan to 205 Live is my guess.

Bray Wyatt looks like he’s lost 60 pounds and that women’s match lasted 60 minutes.
About all I got tonight.

I definitely welcome the reboot of the Stone Cold CM Owens babyface push. Definitely got derailed before it got going last time due to all the injuries on the heel side. Well executed turn, as well. Props to whoever's written that the past two weeks.

This reminds me of that one hardcore match where I can’t think of the wrestlers involved, but one threw the other into the Gulf of Mexico and the announcers sold it as this disgusting thing. I mean Panama City is disgusting for other reasons but the water in that area is gorgeous. i thought that was strange as hell.

What is the point of NXT and NXT UK creative if that’s not your bench for when things go bad?
This would be like the Yankees having Judge and Stanton go down and instead of calling up the prospects from the minors they sign Bernie Williams and A-Rod.
Actually, WWE’s decision with this exactly mirrors their decisions with main event talent for the last decade in recycling past headliners for a stop-gap solution.
Not sure about the analogy. This is management, not the talent. How much more often did Lenny Wilkins or Don Nelson get jobs vice an NBA coach being called up from NCAA or (now) the G League? It’s more the norm than the exception IMO.

I don't remember ECW booking well enough to comment, but the year of Ohio Valley Wrestling Heyman booked (2005-06) is one of my favorite things in wrestling evar. He also booked SD right after that, didn't he.
Granted, that was 10+ years ago. I kinda wonder if the business hasn't passed him by.
Less sure about Bischoff. He didn't really have a second act in him as a wrestling booker/promoter.
Well, Heyman is only 4 years older than Hunter and 3 years older than Gedo, who are widely regarded as the better current wrestling show runners. I think risk of being out of touch is minimal? I dunno.

Both shows should take a week off to reset and in their place next week we get full episodes of Firefly Funhouse and a Live PD-style show on the 24/7 Title produced by Killings and Maverick.

Wow, Paul is still only 53. I figured he was much older.

With the way crowds like to hijack shows now and as a way to drive more “social engagement” or whatever, being the new 911 / Apollo Theatre hook is one way to get Braun back over huge.

Thought experiment: if differentiation is the goal, which two bookers, historically, could you get that would run the most diametrically opposed stylistically, yet high quality, shows?
Bill Watts and Gedo?

I suspect with Vince’s pop culture lag they’ll bring him in as Cloud Strife and give him a buster sword. 22 years late is about right.
