Sign me up as a fan of Omega’s take on being an aww shucks good sportsman going out there and giving 110% jam up guy, while in reality being an egotistical, pretentious dickhead.
The ridiculous over the top entrance would work better if Cody weren’t already doing it....as a face, though. Dammit Cody.- 2

Wrestling is a three ring circus, exhibit A. What a show.
Low key best thing might have been John Silver’s hot tag

Oh yes, the only thing I really remember from this show as being excellent was the Hate Me Now video. Fantastic shit.

With the book now closed on Allie/Brandi, did anyone have a more directionless first year of AEW than Brandi Rhodes? She was all over the place and the only high point I can think of was her role when Wardlow whipped Cody. Here’s to a better year two for her.
Dark has the best commentary in years. I mean we got in-depth Goosebumps discussion.
Lastly I think Wardlow’s knee from the corner is AEW’s ultimate MDK finish. Like if I think “what move in this company would put Mox down clean”, I got the One Winged Angel, Wardlow’s knee, and...yeah that’s it.

Too bad it’s all for naught and they’re beyond dead and buried, because Ali’s promo was the highlight of this show, the best of his career, tied up a loose end and lended Retirbution both credibility and a unique advantage over their opponents (knowing their secrets/weaknesses).
Oh well, hopefully at least someone was paying attention and this means good things for the guy in the future.

Enjoyed BTE this week. The dumb golf tournament is surprisingly engaging and Dark Order was again a highlight.
The whole Bucks tweener / bully angle is some of the worst stuff AEW has done, though

Maybe I’m just in a jovial mood tonight, but I thought this show was very good, this roster is stacked, Reigns has leveled up to a demigod and there’s potential here for the best WWE show in a long time.

WM27 is some real drizzling shits (and I was there). Near the bottom of the bottom tier of WM’s.

I don’t know. Is NXT a pacing/story issue or a talent issue? I’m just not impressed with a lot of these guys in prominent spots (Priest, Lumis, Grimes). The talent level (Balor excluded) just isn’t what it was at NXT’s peak.

Frankly I'm not sure there's a guy on the roster, in their current form, that should beat Moxley any time soon. Jericho was IMO the only guy really on his level (you could easily argue Jericho should have retained given he was the MVP of the early covid era, but Mox has been great). Cody can't challenge for it and IMO isn't on that level anyway. I don't see someone worthy of pinning Mox until possibly Hangman when his story evolves into him returning to being an ass kicker. No one else is over enough IMO.

If no one is buying my Cage/Archer tag team idea, might I reiterate my suggestion of a hoss tournament for the FTW title.
Cage
Lee
Archer
Hobbs
Butcher
Luchasaurus
Wardlow
Dustin
10 minute time limits. Much droppage of big meaty bombs.

Yeah if you wanted to swerve you could serve two masters (set up Hangman/Omega and set up the next challenger) if you had e.g. Penta or Wardlow win the tourney via Page and Omega costing each other their matches.

Not sure what it means that Cody and the Bucks are probably my least favorite acts in the company right now (not counting bit players like Hardy). But I’m not buying what they’re selling.
Love Crow Sting Allin though and he really needs to win the belt. He’s come up just short against AEW’s top guys too often and needs to break through. Then Ricky Starks jumps his ass and ruins his celebration.
Speaking of Team Taz, clearly he needs to buy Archer’s contract out from Roberts, pair him up with Cage and let them MDK guys and win the belts.

Oh man Wardlow/Hangman should be hot fire

Soooooo a Mox/Kingston gimmick match, Bucks/FTR, Cody/Darby, Omega/Hangman and Shida/Britt at Full Gear?
That’ll work

Dark is such easy watching. Perfect background show. Probably legit the closest thing to mid 90’s Saturday Night, with some of the best commentary in years.

SD should continue to be a damn solid show. Support no more Fiend and Stroman - didn’t mesh with the rest of the show at all.
-
Yeti and The Sea Creature really got around

Should definitely let it play out. The combination of the overblown pomp and circumstance Cody provides for his own character and the Bucks laughably booking themselves as anti-authority bad asses that has people cringing and getting vanity promotion vibes, I think.
AEW deserves our time to ward that off, though, IMO.

I was listening to the episode of The New Day’s podcast with D-Von and it made me wonder, who is the most nondescript member of a supposedly great tag team? D-Von certainly seems like the front runner.
Stevie Ray would be sub-D-Von right?

One thing that isn’t clear (in a good way) is what world title match they are building for at the PPV. Hangman and Omega in the finals match, Cody has a title, doubt they run Lee, Archer, Kingston or Cage again, Jericho is likely busy with MJF....
I guess pending how next week goes an Archer rematch could be in the cards, but this is almost ripe for some kind of one-off freelancer/outsider/cross-promotional kind of thing.

What a show, with something for everyone. God Hobbs/Cage and the aftermath was great.

Is it wrong that I think Pat McAfee is the for real best prospect in the WWE system? The dude is a natural. He’s K Fed if K Fed had legit pro sports athleticism.
