Shit great point. 3 out of the last 4 endings have been top tier god segments to me. That's a hell of a run.

And all of it away from the world title scene. Honestly not sure I’ve ever continuously enjoyed the main event slot the way I have with AEW this month.

  2. What a fun show! That’s the word isn’t it? This company is fun to watch.

    - Cody had that shit coming. Paging the “Justified Heel Actions” thread, because that was fantastic execution.

    - Christian and Kaz was great because it was just so different from the AEW house style. Like this was the hot opener to the 2004 Smackdown house show in Shreveport.

    - Main event brought it all home. Statlander coming out of the UFO crane game! Sue! Just fun as shit.

  3. Ricky Starks - just exudes “I need to watch this guy”

Sheamus - agree with Tim. Is he the sneaky top 5-10 guy in the world right now? Like you don’t actively think about Sheamus, but all he does is put on clinics.

Darby Allin - Cool as fuck

    Eddie Kingston - yeah

    Fenix - yeah x2

Roman Reigns - untouchable right now. Probably my overall #1 seed.

Montez Ford - Love this dude. Needs to break out as a singles. That frog splash!

Big E - Best work of his career

Wardlow - best squash guy in wrestling and bad ass look

Don Callis - Kenny sucks, but Don is so good. I wanted to pick a manager here and it was close between Callis and MVP.

Seeing all the ECW mutants mark out for Sid like 12 year old girls at a Ricky Martin concert was and will always be hilarious.

Everyone marks out for Sid. That's the beauty of Sid.

Proper appreciation of Sid is right there with Mark Henry and Bunkhouse Buck in being the line of demarcation between the Scott Keiths of the early IWC vs. the far more enlightened palette.

  5. Christian/Kaz in the most mechaniciest mechanic 13 minute 2008 Smackdown TV match that ever mechaniced is something I am all in for.

Also, big thumbs up to how Tony K has used the main event spot the past two weeks and (probably?) will again next week for the Best Friends/Miro/Kip blowoff. Absolutely love using that spot to showcase/blow off you upper mid card.

  6. Happy for Bisch. Obviously we're still copying the NWO 25 years later, but also, we're copying many of Nitro's original production techniques. As a producer and with respect to how pro wrestling is shot, he was extremely influential.

That's always been my position on Bischoff. It's fair to call him a one hit wonder as a booker (though I'd point to the cruiserweight division as a second hit), but as a producer of TV, he was highly innovative. HOF worthy in that regard alone, ignoring the booking.

I'd argue that Nitro looked like nothing before it, to a large degree, yet WWE has looked like it did in 2001 for 20 years now.

Spears would be better off as an "associate" of Pinnacle, always trying to be in the group, always getting his ass kicked for them, while they secretly laugh at him behind his back.

Their Louie Spicolli, as it were. Sign me up.

  8. Coach TK is the king of the mid card feud blowoff match. Last night's main event and the parking lot brawl are probably my two favorite AEW matches ever.

I still hope they go back to an Allin/Starks singles feud, because they never REALLY blew that one off properly. Put them in a cage.

  9. AEW has now done the fluke roll up pin twice that I can remember, and both times it was Cody (Penta, Allin).

Easily my least favorite wrestler right now, which is a testament to his shittiness considering Shawn Spears now has a prominent role on the same show.

  10. Britt now needs to beat Shida and I need Tony to go full on Heenan/Flair 1992.

I know wrestling isn’t intended to be deep as a medium, but I’d argue Tony and Britt have one of the more nuanced and interesting relationships in wrestling. It’s seriously well done storytelling.

Well it is official.  Britt Baker > Adam Cole.  We didn't see it a year ago at this time but seriously what a performance.  From both really

That look from Britt into the camera when she was on all fours and wearing the crimson mask. Pure hate. She completely "gets it".
