  1. Both Tankman and Edwards are going to be stars if they get the opportunities. Edwards is as good a promo as he is a hoss, so the sky is the limit on him.

How’ve the Moriarty and Makabe matches been? Two of my current favorites as well.

I almost regret getting in on the XSX preorder this week, because I couldn’t justify the Collective stuff on top of it. Following along on Twitter/boards makes me a little jealous!

I miss when rasslers would do the "stunned wide eyed stare" in photo ops. Abdullah was a master at it. See also: Brody, Bruiser, and Samoans, Wild.

Mance Warner is the only current wrestler I can think of who does it. Never get the sense of menace the fine gentlemen you listed would evoke, but I do appreciate it!

  3. Yes, each variation counts as its own item. I can not only tell you every piece of furniture/clothing I’ve ever had, but also tell you which colors I’ve had them in. It’s madness. Especially since there are too many items to remember which I have full sets of.

So, when I get gifted an after-school jacket for the 53rd time, I still have to check the color because what if I’m misremembering and I actually have all of the *school* jackets, not the *after-school* jackets?

    I did this to myself.

  4. I went to a dark place and cataloged every single item I’ve ever touched. Which now means that I have to keep that up. Every. Single. Day. Humorously, despite the amount of time I’ve sunk into this game, I still only have about 2500/14000+ items, so this will go on forever.

Don’t do this. Unless you want to, I guess!

  5. Was there a team that inspired more copycats than the Roadies?

Man, to be like 7-8 years old and see them sprint out and destroy some job guys before Iron Man even stopped playing. Definitely one of the big reasons that this pro wrestling stuff has been part of my life for close to 40 years.

  6. I’m on like turn 280 of the Civ game I’m in the midst of. Playing as the US because the tutorial I was watching said it was a good “starter” culture.  I’m starting to grok the cause and effect of some stuff. Other stuff, not at all. I’m a turn away from launching a satellite, though.

My military is substantially larger than anyone other than Cleopatra. Quite awhile ago, Victoria declared a surprise war on me. I salted the earth on her empire.

All of this to say that I’m still not 100% sure I even like this game, but trying to learn it has been a good distraction the last few days.

I would think it would be IX.  I really enjoyed IX.  I never played Tactics but one of my friends loved it.  I did not like VIII too much.

I always got the sense that people didn’t like 9 as much, because it went more “traditional” after 7/8. Maybe it was just the backlash at the time and people have come around on it? It’s my favorite after 10, though.

How do folks here feel about 12? I keep thinking of picking up the remaster on Switch because I remember that game fondly, but haven’t pulled the trigger on it. I recall the...Gambit system, I think it’s called (?) being a blast to mess around with and it made that game’s AI feel like it was actually following these giant lists of nonsense commands I was feeding it. You could absolutely break that game with a smart setup.

Never finished 8. After a hundred hours or whatever, finding out that the final disc wouldn’t read was, let’s say...frustrating.

Learning Civ VI is like learning tic tac toe in comparison to Crusader Kings III's 3D turbo chess of the 54th dimension.

That game is clearly not for me, then! Messing around some more in Civ today and I feel a little less lost. Slightly. Maybe. I've mostly been following the suggestion of the game as to what I should build, but that often sees me completely unprepared for any sort of military action. I just need to figure out a better balance and maybe I'll be on to something.

  9. I have never spent any time on a Civ game. I didn’t grow up a PC gamer and, frankly, 4x games seem overwhelming. Since I’m not in the middle of anything else, though, I was looking through my backlog of free games. I’d forgotten that EGS gave away Civ VI. Decided to give it a shot. Holy shit.

Overwhelming is an understatement. I like to think of myself as reasonably intelligent most of the time, but I am very lost, even in the tutorial. Now watching a bunch of YouTube vids to try and wrap my head around things. I wouldn’t say that I’m having fun yet, but I am intrigued by what I’ve seen so far.

With Crusader Kings III available on Game Pass, I have to ask...would that be an “easier” game to get into? I want to give the genre an honest shot

  10. Apropos of nothing (and it’s certainly not even a lukewarm take), I love watching Terry Gordy work. Every facet of his performance just screams “This dude is going to kick someone’s ass, enjoy it immensely, then go drink everyone under the table.” Even his promos paint him as a guy who would have been just as comfortable slapping your grandma as he was beating down a hapless Von Erich pretty boy.

This is not a new discovery for me. Pretty sure I’ve been on the bandwagon since ‘86 or so. Just happened to catch a few matches this evening that really reminded me why I love this pro wrestling stuff we’re (mostly) all into.

  11. I've never played any of the Dontnod games, but Tell Me Why has caught my eye (so did the Life is Strange games, but I just haven't gotten to them). One question about them, though, before I start, possibly with a tandem playthrough with my wife: Are there any sort of fail states, or will the game just react to whatever dumbass decisions I might make and let me continue? Been a long, long time since I did any sort of adventure-ish game. Like...NES Shadowgate long. That was more point and click obviously, but you could and would die at the drop of a hat in the game. I don't know that I care either way, but it would likely frustrate my wife if she gets hooked into the story.

Edit: To clarify a bit, I guess by "fail states," I mean a straight up game over. If bad shit is going to happen because of whatever choices the player makes, that a completely different thing to me.

  12. Considering suplexes (which is a phrase that I love) has made me realize that while yes, they're among my favorite, uh...genre(?) of moves in pro wrestling overall, I might prefer when folks alter them into busters. Love a good Brainbuster. Love a Fisherman's Buster. Love a Michinoku Driver #1.

Does anyone do something similar with a Northern Lights setup? Northern Lights Bomb is also awesome, but a different setup. I will not argue with Hokuto if her opinion differs on the matter, though. I used to use it as a finisher in an efed, so clearly deserve credit for inventing it if no one actually does it!
