Does the Impact title from James Storm to Bobby Roode count? I mean that was a good idea, Storm's booking just went to shit afterwards. Roode did ok. I thought it built both Storm and Roode at the time. If the MAJOR title clause isn't fulfilled, then nevermind.

Disagree. At the time, Storm was as hot as he'd ever been. He should have won the Bound For Glory series, beat Angle for the title, then had a long run as the top babyface in TNA. But instead of going with the hot hand, they cut him off at the knees, and he never fully recovered.

Stevie Ray has a lot of charisma, IMO. Love that dude even if he wasn't the greatest wrestler. His facial expressions, mugging, shit-talking, and goofy commentary are all aces.

He worked as a manager in Booker's Reality Of Wrestling for a while, and he was tremendous. He would spend most of his time on the outside talking shit to the little kids in the audience, which would end up getting him big heat when it was time to interfere in the matches.

  3. But the reason why Eaton is the greatest tag wrestler of all time is because he was so nondescript, he was able to tailor his work to complement his tag partner. The Eaton who teamed with Koko didn't work the same way the Eaton who worked with Condrey, or Lane, or Arn, or Regal worked. He was a blank slate. That's what made him great.

I think Owen is still one of the most underrated talents of the last 35 years. There's really nothing he couldn't do well..  he can have a great match and do so in a variety of ways,  maybe he's using more psychology or maybe he's using his high flying skills..   you want him to cut a fiery promo he can do it.  You want him to cut a total dickish promo he can do it.  He was a genuinely funny guy.  He could be intense like the rest of the family. He could work WWF style or work Japan. He could get the best out of a young talent.  etc...

If Owen had had Bret's dedication to wrestling, he would have been the better of the two. He was more athletic and charismatic than Bret, and had just as much technical skill (sans Bret's precision, naturally). He just wasn't as big of a mark for himself as Bret was.

Ziggler is the clear standout here. Has the work rate and bumping skills that drove comparisons to HBK and Mr Perfect. Comes in hot and gets a massive wave of support.

Then NXT levelled up and all the indy super workers began to filter through to our screens and he was left being just another guy.

I really like Ziggler TBH but he needs a proper gimmick outside of 'guy trying to have the best match on the card' because just about everyone on the roster can do that.

Ziggler is allegedly a pretty badass amateur wrestler, but he never shows it. He'd rather be Great Value Shawn Michaels, I guess.

I always though Edge was a cool name. I was a teenager when he debuted and was heavily into NIN and other similar stuff. Edge always seemed destined to be a world champion.

The name stuff is definitely a YMMV type of thing. It's going to sound normal to some and not to others, but I can't imagine a world where "T-Bar" or "Slapjack" are champions. At least not top champions.

Donovan Dijak though? Awesome name. Alliteration, strong sounding, and easy to just call him Dijak. WWE has proceeded to fuck his name up twice now, but it can't be any worse than what he's currently named.

There's a guy who is actually named "Triple H" that's won 14 world championships.

Is the Legit Boss higher than the Big Boss Man on the corporate hierarchy? Are we talking c-suite or middle management here? Cleary, just The Boss was a front line guy, really junior.

They're both on the same level, but she only makes $.81 for every dollar he earns.

The worst thing about Retribution (well, after the names, the look, and T-Jakovic's voice) is that an easier sell is RIGHT THERE. Some NXT workers got tired of waiting around for their opportunity while watching others catch breaks, so they took matters into their own hands. No need to give them stupid Prison Break names or pretend no one has ever seen them on WWE programming before. Just acknowledge who they are and make them look like bad-asses for taking initiative.

That wouldn't "own the libs", though.
