It's changed now as I get a kick out of his antics but as a kid I absolutely could not fucking stand The Boogie Woogie Man. I thought his whole presentation was stupid and I might've been the only 6 year old in the world who was rooting for Paul Jones in 1985. Actually I was probably the only person in the world rooting for Paul Jones in 1985, regardless of age.

Boogie's one of those guys like Warrior and New Jack that could talk me into wanting to see them wrestle anyone, despite being the worst fucking wrestlers ever.

  2. I've been watching a lot of 2001/2002 OVW lately. Towards the end of 2001, Brock Lesnar gets written out after the Disciples of Synn throw a fireball in his face. His tag partner, Shelton Benjamin, goes after the Disciples for revenge by dressing in all black, putting on a leather trench coat, and attacking them with a pool cue.

You guys... he's doing Hardbody Harrison's "Stang" idea. 😆

If I remember correctly, that match was supposedly not very good. Wasn't this the height of Dustin's bloated, drugged out phase?

Yeah, it's not nearly as good as you want it to be. Dustin wasn't terrible in it, but he wasn't good, either. And yes, he is definitely a chonk at this point in his career.

I don't follow indy wrestling all that much outside of what is discussed here. I probably should check out Booker T's promotion at some point.

You absolutely should. They're my home promotion, too. I've been to about 100 of their shows, and have never had a bad time. They're cranking out some stars, too--Gino Medina, Kylie Rae, Hyan (she's gonna have a massive 2021)...

What's this?  (as if I needed more motivation for my dislike of Ross)

The original co-writer for Ross's first book was Scott Williams, who also did the autobiographies for Terry Funk, Bill Watts, and Jim Duggan. Scott was also my best friend, as well as my editor at the Galveston Daily News. About halfway through the production, after Scott had already written at least a large chunk of the book (and maybe even an entire rough draft), Ross replaced Scott with Paul O'Brien. I don't know how much of the writing was kept and reused by O'Brien, if any, but I do know that they used Scott's research because he knew more about parts of Jim Ross's career than even Ross knew. And up until his death in 2016, he was still helping out Ross whenever he could.

When Ross showed off the cover to his book in 2017, Scott's name was left off the cover. They were going to give him a dedication page instead. This didn't sit right with a lot of people, including Bix (who was also friends with Scott) and Brian Last (who knew Scott through an appearance on Cornette's podcast). They argued with Ross on Twitter until he added Scott's name to the cover.

There's a little more to it than that, but that's the Reader's Digest version.

This despite creating a great character in Leviathan

Leviathan was literally a demon from hell summoned up through the Ohio River in a Satanic ritual by Cornette's dominatrix girlfriend and her bootleg Ministry Of Darkness stable.

And Cornette doesn't work in the business because he doesn't need the money.

Cornette doesn't need to work in the industry because he doesn't need the money, but Cornette doesn't work in the industry because he is toxic as hell and no one wants him around.
