  1. Delta/Esfinge was just slow and dull. Even that headscissors to the floor spot... why bother? Took them forever to set up and came off ugly. It's like they did it just because they felt they had to rather than it being a spot they both thought up and could pull off well together. Delta clearly gives zero fucks about this tournament and beyond walking off before the judges give scores it was never more apparent than the finish where he did two rookie level dropkicks to set up his finisher. Right after they did two Victory Roll nearfall spots where in the past I've seen Delta transition beautifully from that into his finisher! Maya/Disturbio was fine but again... nothing happened. These are generic Tuesday lightning matches and nothing more. Maya showed some charisma and woke the crowd up from the slumber of the previous match. He'll advance no problems. Disturbio is the one guy in this tournament who seems to be clearly attempting to improve himself. He should advance on that alone. Not sure if you watched the rest of the show but for the first three matches this crowd was HOT! These guys had the chance to step right into a great situation and what did they do? They did boring matwork. No, not all matwork is boring. But matwork for the sake of matwork is boring as fuck, especially when it's two guys who aren't capable of doing it in an interesting way. I'm not sure if they are being told they must do matwork or if they aren't creative enough to work matches differently. I'm begging any two guys in this tournament to start a match with something other than a lock-up. Last year's tournament had plenty of matches which switched the formula up and that was with far less experienced guys. It really feels like nobody is into this tournament from the participants to the judges. As if CMLL just came up with the idea to do it a month ago, sprung it on everyone & now they're just going along with it for the sake of doing it. Delta clearly wants out and I don't blame him at all. 1/3 of the National Trios Champs w/ Atlantis, guy who occasionally main events, being reduced to working on the same level as opening/second match guys like Canelo & Flyer? Delta (& Maya) have nothing to gain here. Either they win a tournament they should be destroying and nobody cares or they lose and hurt their value. Delta should just claim injury and forfeit his way out.
  2. Great way to spend an hour. So many twists & turns. Both guys did a fantastic job. I like the fact they didn't do a tradtional Iron Man match & as usual put the unique LU spin on it where you didn't have strict rules. They weaved in the Alberto story & I thought Mundo heeling it up by running away when he had the lead was great. Should make this a yearly thing if the show comes back.
  3. Black Terry/Dragon Celestial/Aeroman vs Eterno/Atomic Star/Aramis - 6/10/15 IWRG Honestly the first match of the year I've seen in IWRG I'd rate close to great. Great brawl with Terry taking the lead for his team. Lots of guys bleeding mixed in with the flyers doing crazy highspots at the end of each fall. Even got some chair throwing in the middle which is always fun. Third fall had a sunset flip bomb to the floor countered into eventually a Spanish Fly to the floor which is the apex of Bihari dream spots! Eterno fouls Terry so Atomic Star can cover for the win. This feud could be great if they keep it going. I much prefer watching Terry work with youngsters.
  4. Whatever the case may be... Katrina's boobs will always be real to me!
  5. Volador Jr. ended up guest judge. Was nice to the contestants except for Delta who he kinda called out. Maya vs Zavala was good. They worked a very professional match which is quite the novelty so far in this tournament! Both did a good job and had the crowd into the match. Surprised to see Boby pick up the win but happy to see it. Judges were fair afterwards. Delta vs Canelo was beyond boring for the first 4 minutes. Couple of people on twitter said Delta hurt himself somehow but I must have missed it. After doing nothing for the first half, all of a sudden Delta gave Canelo a frankensteiner off the apron and shock of all shocks - Canelo took it properly and took a good bump! HE DID SOMETHING RIGHT~~~!!! It was back to shit after that though as Canelo has no offense or any sort of crowd connection. For god knows what fucking reason they actually put him over Delta via... something. I forget. Oh right - he did a shitty splash off the top. At least the judges still refused to give him high marks. Then Delta got shit on and looked none too happy, walking off immediatly after the scores. I feel bad for a guy like Delta (& Maya) who are proven main eventers and stuck in this tournament having to "prove" themselves while being bashed and treated as on the same level as guys like Flyer, Canelo Casas & Panther's bastard son. It was another night though where the judges comments didn't match their score. For example Tirantes said he enjoyed Boby, gave him a 6. Then he ripped Maya, gave him a 6. Que?
  6. Thank you for the compliment. I feel the need to step up my game recently with all these wackjobs out there whining and bitching about guys "doing too much" or "doing dangerous moves for no reason". What is that nonsense? Is that even English? It doesn't compute with me. I do find it humorous to see people making those types of comments after watching WWE programming though. I think a Ninja Turtles match from CaraLucha would break their brains if they ever came across one.
  7. Volador Jr. vs Flamita - CaraLucha 6/14 Man oh man. One of my favorite matches this year! Just two guys throwing BOMBS at each other. Flamita trying to forearm the snot out of Volador while Volador tries to decapitate Flamita over and over with superkicks. So many fast creative exchanges and big dives from Flamita. They actually worked his knee early on and had an unintentional moment tie into that story when Flamita went for a dive but slipped on the wet mat and took a real nasty fall outside. You could tie that into the knee deal but clearly it wasn't planned since after he recovered he did another dive to make up for it. Loved the spot where Volador went for his corner kick and Flamita just caught his foot like NO FUCKER, YOU AREN'T GONNA KICK ME! Of course later Volador gets the spot in for a two. They did the new trend of doing one big move after another and then again until they both collapse which seems to be over with this type of crowd. Lots of awesome nearfalls. The somersault into a sunset flip into a missed kick into a missed knee into a superkick for a nearfall sequence was ridiculously awesome. At the end it turns into a war of the Flame Fly vs the Backcracker and the Flame Fly gets the shocking win. Crowd was super into the entire match but the finish didn't get a huge reaction because nobody saw Flamita as having a chance in hell of a winning. CaraLucha is probably the promotion of the year. So far I've also gotten through Flyer/Aramis which was indyrific as hell but had fun moments & the Turtles vs Kriminal Stars match which was a million moves crammed into 12 minutes but they hit everything & everyone was having an on night so I thought it was fun aside from the stupid double Canadian Destroyer/Package Piledriver spot that got a 1 count. TOO INDYRIFIC FOR EVEN ME! Hope the Neza Kings match makes it somewhere in full because that looked insane in highlight form.
  8. Alas De Oro - 6/14/15 Do I really need to explain why? Just a ridiculous non-stop balls to the wall divefest. Made the CMLL Reyes Del Aire from a month before look like a match from the 1950's. Describing it wouldn't do it justice, you should all watch it if you're a fan of crazy spotfests.
  9. Well there you go. No TV, it's like it never existed.
  10. I don't think they did a Virus/Juvi match. They did Virus/Fuerza and it aired on TV either JIP or heavily edited. CMLL TV back then was about as awful as it is today. Top 2 matches, heavily edited.
  11. I thought Flyer/Disturbio was the first good match of the tournament. Some nice spots, an insane crowd dive & a decent finish. It couldn't touch anything from last year but at this point I just want competent matches so these two succeeded. Flyer is clearly going out in round 1 as it seems CMLL is booking wins/losses here based on your standing on the card so Flyer's only hope of picking up a win will be against Canelo Casas and I doubt he'll get even that. Judges scoring won't help him out so even if he wins the fan poll he's fucked. Panther Jr./Esfinge wast just completely dull. Even Panther's dives didn't have any excitement. He looked nervous on the top rope each time & incompetent on the mat early on. Esfinge looked okay again but nothing worthy of winning a tournament to be called an "idol". Him getting a 10 from Tirantes is a clear sign the fix is in for him to at least make the finals and he appears to have rallied a fanbase to give him fan votes so he could easily be a finalist. Shocer saying "Mira... *checks notes*... Esfinge" cracked me up. Gladiador is a useless judge and continues to give generic compliments that have nothing to do with the actual matches. Hector nailed it on Tirantes - he says all the right things but then gives scores that make you think WTF? My suggestion would be to do both matches in a row, then do judging afterwards. The crowd DIES between the first match ending, the judging & then the ring entrances for the second match. It's like 15 minutes of nothing happening and then the second match always starts with pointless matwork. I'll watch matwork any day but it's completely unneccessary in a tournament where you have a 10 minute time limit, the crowd is anxious & most guys involved in said tournament are not adept at doing chain wrestling.
  12. That won't work as Dario is unable to make phone calls. As we've seen, every time he tries someone ends up flying through his office window.
  13. Katrina's rack is indeed a thing of beauty. Things of beauty? Either way they clearly shoot her scenes in a way to emphasize what a great rack she has and I have no issue with that at all. Was Drago dubbed? It was hard to tell. I thought so at first because his back was to the camera when he spoke but then my buddy claimed otherwise saying it was such broken English that it had to be Drago's own voice. I haven't heard the guy speak in ages so it's hard to do a voice comparison. Good on him if he did pick up a little English on his own.
  14. Loved the Dario/Mundo skit just for the Vince burial. Scripting for these skits is just top notch. I don't get how anyone watches that, ending with Johnny putting on the shades, and doesn't come to the Johnny Mundo = Johnny Cage comparison. I know there's a certain LU blog out there that claims (as usual) the info out there is wrong and Mortal Kombat has nothing to do with LU but c'mon. I know the super hardcores can get overly sensitive but nobody is accusing LU of copying Mortal Kombat, just borrowing cool stuff & implementing it in a wrestling environment. To claim there is no merit to that is absolutely ludicrous at this point.
  15. Not much better tonight... maybe worse than Friday. :/ I told you Flyer was green and he proved it tonight by embarassingly fucking up his big spot twice within 3 seconds & splatting on the floor. I've seen him do this multiple times already in his short career in CMLL. It's not his fault, he's young & has a legit case of being nervous. Volador Jr. was the same way back in 1999/2000. He'll get better. I blame CMLL for putting him in this spot to expose him to their audience. No going back now. Esfinge looked fine, did a crazy spot at the end. Judges destroyed both for a poor match. Blue Panther Jr./Disturbio was heatless. Nobody cared. Disturbio was solid but didn't stand out. Panther was slow, very unspectacular & seemed gassed (also seemed tired. Get it?). Judges ripped these guys even more. Panther in particular got destroyed. Disturbio got an '8' from guest judge Sombra who went on twitter afterwards and said he meant to give him a '3' so clearly the judges are taking this very seriously. It's gonna be a long 2 months. CMLL getting exactly what they deserve for picking these guys. Maya, Delta & Zavala should have an easy ride to the finals.
  16. Dragon Lee vs Negro Casas 5/22/15 This is a recording: Negro Casas is AMAZING. This is a weird match as you really have to combine the TV version which has an awful 3rd fall edit with the handheld that is also clipped but you get a sense of the stuff that was missed. They really built up the fact Dragon Lee kept going for a big dive and Casas would just hop up on the apron and wag his finger 'no'. AMAZING. Early on 55 year old Casas does a kip-up. AMAZING. They do this crazy fast kung fu sequence straight out of Red vs Lo-Ki & it's a 19 year old vs a 55 year old here. AMAZING. Dragon Lee tries to break Casas' fingers at one point. AMAZING. 55 year old Casas takes a fucking rana off the apron with a full somersault bump to the floor that most 20 year olds were decline taking. AMAZING. Dragon stomps the fuck out of Casas as he hangs in the tree of woe before getting double stomped. AMAZING. Casas finally wins it with a great armbar takedown and La Casita. I guess I really liked this match. Negro Casas is a national treasure.
  17. MURDERING MONITO???????? FUCK OFF. The lowest of the low!
  18. Like Cubsfan said on twitter: The good news is only 6 more Canelo Casas matches left. Dude is ridiculously untalented. 10 years... Casas blood in him... and he can't do shit. It's fucking embarassing really. I felt so bad for Maya who had to try and work a match with that fool. Horrible way to start the tournament. Delta/Zavala was better b/c Boby is great and hopefully will go far now that we know for sure he was pulled from the Europe tour he was supposed to be on. Gladiador as a judge is a waste of time as his comments are just cut & paste generic shit in a low voice you have to struggle to hear. Tirantes was great as usual. I think Tuesday will be better and should have been the four guys they started with. Flyer will make up for his greenness (?) by trying to kill himself & Disturbio has had some shockingly good Arena Coliseo singles matches with weak opponents that he might just be able to get something good out of the black sheep of the Panther family.
  19. BTJr grabbed most of the show & in full unlike some of these YouTube vids. Rush/Hechicero went just over 12 minutes. I thought it was fine but not the type of match I wanted. I wanted brawling vs technical and instead they just did the 3rd fall of any CMLL singles match. Seemed to lack intensity from Rush's part which was odd because Rush was HATED by the crowd and he usually feeds off that. The rest of the show though is an early show of the year candidate from me. Aramis/Wasson was excellent. 4 way with Imposible/Dinamic/Bala/Wotan was very good. The 10 man mask/hair match was just absolute insanity, the likes of which even I had trouble digesting. That dive sequence was SCARY. Shocked nobody got seriously hurt. They overkilled the finish for me with all the piledrivers but it's indy lucha... you gotta live with that shit. The best match of course was... Volador Jr./Titan vs Flamita/Bestia 666 Was actually considering going live just for this but in the end the price just didn't add up to only stay 2 days. My friends went and loved it so now I regret it. This was 70% Volador/Flamita showdowns with Titan/Bestia just playing supporting roles which was fine b/c Bestia didn't seem too into doing anything. The Volador/Flamita stuff was killer. Red hot crowd much like the Fenix/Flamita interactions from 1/1 but without the match falling apart due to unprofessionalism. BTJr got great shots of Volador superkicking Flamita over and over. Loved the striking exchange they had and great nearfall on the double Valagueza spot. Just seeing these guys in the ring together was such a joy. Could watch them wrestle every day. So hyped for Volador Jr. vs Flamita on 6/14! Could top the much raved about Flamita/Rey Horus match from Chilanga Mask on 5/16.
  20. I think this post officially makes it 1,000 in this thread! I don't know who Killshot is married to. I do know that I'm not naive enough to think only Sexy Star gets preferential treatment. It's professional wrestling. A lot of people end up where they are just due to relationships or friendships. If we were just going by talent it's entirely possible Machine Rocker would be in Pentagon Jr.'s role right now & Pentagon Jr. would be the one struggling for TV appearences. But Pentagon Jr. is in a circle Machine Rocker isn't. That's the biz. My point is just that even though you have to deal with certain people who are only around for "other reasons", you can utilize them in perfectly acceptable ways. Feuding Sexy Star with Pentagon Jr. was a mistake. Casting her in the role she's doing was a mistake which you could have seen from day one. In fact, I may have said it on day one. LOL The idea should be to hide her. FWIW Sexy Star is married to Johnny Gonzalez who is a somewhat known boxer in Mexico and gives AAA a little extra mainstream credibility + allows certain higher-ups in the promotion to have their faces seen in forums they normally wouldn't be.
  21. Also, I've spoken with 3 LU guys. I never asked them about anything to do with Vampiro but the topic of agents came up and his name was never uttered. This was post- filming of casket match.
  22. 1) Vamp is a known liar and bullshitter. He may have suggested a spot to his best friend Mil Muertes and is now taking credit for the match. If he was such a great agent he may have had one decent match in his career. 2) Vamp has a history of "putting people over" in a way where he really puts himself over. He's never helped anyone's career. There is no reason to give him the benefit of the doubt & I'm sorry but "trust me it'll be cool" doesn't work for me. 3) You may think it gets better because maybe Pentagon beats Vampiro to win a feud but you may be a Vampiro fan. To those of us who aren't and just sat through our favorite dude feuding with a charity case, this is a bummer. He didn't even win the feud with Sexy Star. Super Fly helped him. Lame ending. I love this show but that doesn't mean I'm gonna put on blinders. They have weak acts & moments. Sexy Star is useless and if not for who she's married to she's long gone. Daivari is another guy I'm not feeling & he appears to be getting a bigger role. Let's not turn this into a TNA style thread where everything is great, any criticism is dismissed & the world is against what we love.
  23. On a sidenote - I know you all think I'm crazy for mentioning Mortal Kombat over and over but never more than tonight's episode was it more clear they are taking stories from there and just doing minor twists. It's amazing. I'm pretty sure I know exactly where the Dario/Lotus/Azteca story is going and which current charachters are going to play big roles in the reveal. It's going to rule.
  24. I gotta go with Naimark here. That main event was a letdown. I gave them the benefit of the doubt thinking Pentagon would kill her this time but that match went on forever and she was awful while everything he did should have legit killed her. Then he had to be helped by Super Fly which was silly & now he's stuck with Vamp. This show needs a 2nd season if only to get Pentagon some real opponents. Opener was okay (not great), Black Lotus stuff I loved, the rest was forgettable. Not a blowaway show.
