  1. Fucking LOVED the Eddie Murphy show.  I was afraid they were going to make Eddie try to be one of them, but they played to his strengths instead.  It's the wrestling fan in me, I think he was allowed to swear on purpose, just so he could freak out over doing it.  Which made it funnier.

Mr. Robinson, Buckwheat, Gumby, I lost my shit when they even brought back Velvet Jones.  He's literally the most un-PC character he had, and he wasn't even that memorable of a character.

This was a great version of a RAW Reunion show.

I'm fine with them pushing guys above their station here and there. They've done it incredibly well with three babyface future stars in Allin, Scorpio (less sure about him), and Jungle Boy Jack Perry. The heel side hasn't worked so well with Spears and Dark Order after last night's angle. They could recover the DO from this misstep but I don't think rushing into a feud with the top guys is where they need to be unless Page is actually joining them. It would fit character wise with what he's been doing but the crowd loves them some cowboy shit.

You can't say they have pushed someone incredibly well and then change your mind mid-sentence.  Scorpio was filler, he's back to being a tag team guy now.  I agree they have something in Allin and Perry, but they've got to do something with Jungle Boy NOW because this whole win-loss record thing makes him look like a total loser.  And he has to win now, and a lot, for it to even make him average.

  3. Man, I'll be the one:  Dark Order failed initially, the fans hated them and not in a good-heel-heat way, so they went overboard tonight.  This was absolute Vince McMahon "You'll fucking hate who I TELL YOU TO HATE!" garbage.  I just don't care about them.  It's jobbers in masks.  And all your main guys got massacred by them.  And the ringleader is a middle-aged looking guy named Stu.  Which might have worked fifty years ago if it was Stu Hart.

Yeah, tonight was probably the strongest in-ring episode of NXT since getting on USA.  The Io match was the only squash and it was a decently competitive one.  They're really going to need a lot of make shift teams for the Dusty Classic because the tag division is pretty barren.

There wasn't a bad match or even a boring match tonight which is pretty rare for WWE.  Kushida/Grimes was probably the one match I didn't care about only because of the 50/50 booking.  But I at least enjoyed the fans noticing Grimes not kicking out in time.  I'll take Io squashes every week.  She's one of the few talents who doesn't feel cookie cutter.  She comes off as someone who gets  to do whatever they feel like.  And she's got the best theme in wrestling.

Rhea's win has to be the biggest pop in Full Sail ever.  Those fans lost their goddamn minds.  And HEY, BUGENHAGEN SIGHTING in the post-match!  I swear I heard that he quit.

  5. What is the metric then?  If TV is dead, why did everybody lose their shit when TNT picked them up?  If TV is dead, why did AEW even bother trying to get on a network in the first place?  Why didn't they just go all streaming like other organizations have?

I say this as someone who works in TV.  If it's live (sports, news) the audience is still there.

AEW is already outdoing WCW business prior to the nWo, are they not?

What's your definition of business?  More people watched Nitro by a WIDE margin, but WCW basically had to give tickets away to get arenas to sell-out.  If we're talking strictly attendance, AEW is doing much better than WCW or ECW.

  7. It's the second time he clearly had the match won, but he hesitated with the big finish and he paid for it (same finish for Dijakovic, he went for the moonsault but took too long to do it.)  I'm optimistic on Lee because he was booked as a total loser not even three months ago.  I feel like they're still building, he's getting that "he's almost there" treatment, not the Daniel Bryan "Fuck you, we'll tell you who to cheer for" treatment.

Garza/Rush wasn't as good as their first match, but ti was still pretty nice and different with things getting a little more personal. I'm pleased Garza is champ. Kind of surprised they showed Garza proposing to his girl afterwards. Was a nice little moment. Hope they are happy together.

As a story, I thought this match was better.  I loved that Garza basically won because Lio wouldn't let him rip his pants off, and that ended up being the catalyst to the finish.  Garza has absolutely got the "it" factor.  Such a smarmy heel, then he's the ultimate good guy in the post-match.

Bummed that Lee ate the pin but he got to show way too much for me not to think they aren't saving him for something later.  If he's not in the Takeover main event in Feb though, my mistake.

Also, they absolutely better never do that Weekend Update thing again.

I know Vince just found out that SNL exists, but jesus was that total cringe.

Like, I get the point of the joke is to show how out-of-touch Vince is, but literally you can argue that WWE wouldn't be anywhere near where it became if Vince didn't partner with Dick Ebersol in the 80s to have SNME fill-in for SNL.

I do think wrestling is going to die in the next ten years. It's going to break my heart. It's my escape. But Vince accelerated this. Maybe he wants it to implode in itself?

Wrestling isn't dying.  TV is dying.  Comparatively, wrestling is drawing the same amount of viewers in 2005 as it is now.  The only thing bucking the trend is actual real sports.

  11. I really can't remember the last WWE guy who got the left for dead treatment and was then turned into a goddamn star like Keith Lee has.  He was literally beneath ACH three months ago losing every match and cutting inane promos.  He's coming off as THE guy right now.
