  1. You'd hate it even more if you completed it, then had the game crash when you tried to enter the building, before it was possible to save.

Fortunately it didn't take anything like 45 minutes to do it either time.  I just leg it all the way across the map as soon as the warnings start.  Only died once, when I somehow fubared getting the vehicle to lift during my skedaddle and got stuck under a low ledge.

I have to believe there are people who shove them out the airlock too

That got me thinking. How many people don’t grab all the possible followers in BioWare games?

The only one I don’t is Howe’s kid in Dragon Age Awakenings. I figured his whole deal was gonna be a bunch of moaning till he eventually learned the truth and did some big redemption thing and decided who the hell needs that.

  3. Beat ME2.  Forgot how much I hate some of these loyalty missions (Thane, Samara) that I left till the end.

Never occurred to wonder how my hamster survived Edi venting the ship during the collector attack on the Normandy.  I guess the boring answer is Edi just sealed off Shepard's room, but I prefer to picture him as a little badass, hanging on for dear life while the collectors get sucked into the void.

Started ME3 as a Vanguard.  Having a much better time than when I tried it in ME2.  So far my strategy is have Liara use singularity to create a big ball of floating enemies, then charge em. Somehow I think I'm gonna struggle on Banshees.

  4. I'm curious to see whether this actually causes folks stay in school another year rather than leave early and not get drafted.  Guess it probably depends on the individual and whether they're getting any real money from it.

  5. Oof.  I do not miss the nights of not sleeping.  Fortunately mine sleeps through the night most of the time now (he's six).  I remember it well enough to feel your pain J.H.  For the longest time my son wouldn't to back to sleep at night unless I walked around the house carrying him.  Bouncers, swings, rocking him - none of that stuff worked.  Walking the laps in the house for hours at a time was not fun.

We lost all of Sandy's previous downloaded data but we can re-download all the episodes of Blippi and Ryan's World she had on there before (I also put Dino Dana, a charming Canadian show about a girl that is gonzo for dinosaurs).

My son went through a Dino Dana (and Dino Dan/Trek's Adventures) obsession last year.  They're definitely better than most kids shows.  The contrast between that and Disney, where every damn kid on every damn show is an aspiring actor/singer is nice.

Reboot!  99% of the time, it works every time.  My second rule of IT, brother.  Right behind "wait a little bit and see if it sorts itself out," because that shit worked for me like 2-3 times just last week, too.  I think the 3rd rule is "always escalate the call because the first person you're talking to is reading a script and has no idea how to help you."  Which also applies.  ?

I'm rather fond of the bigger hammer theory.  I once watched an IT guy use it on the hard drive of the Sparc in my cubicle when I was an intern at Motorola a million years ago.  Worked like a charm.  Shoved it back in the machine and never had another problem with it.

  6. What Stout said. With the exception that if you’re in a car, you’re likely to get blowed up at any moment. If you’re on foot, most of the new stuff is harmless.

The dots have got much much worse, which is welcome.

Last time melraz and I were on, we had this same exact conversation at least three times:

this guy is terrible, what level is he?

(pause, followed by laughter) you don’t wanna know

    crap. He’s a level three, isn’t he

    he ain’t that high

    he's a one?

    yup

fuck it. They gotta learn sometime

  7. Adding to the mess is the various revenue streams players are gonna get from their likeness, autographs, etc.  There’s gonna be a bunch of people getting into trouble with their taxes over that.

whole buncha cans of worms here, but they’re cans that should’ve been opened and dealt with years ago.

  8. Started a couple of ME2 runs, as a vanguard and a soldier.  I've only ever played ME2 as a soldier or adept, and only every played vanguard in Andromeda multiplayer.  So far the vanguard playthrough is driving me nuts.  I don't have any guns with decent range, and I keep getting "no path available" or whatever the game says when I try to charge stuff.

    Not good times

Little turd have it to me.  Guess it’s my turn to sit on the couch and watch Scooby Doo all day Friday.

Think the last time I puked was New Years Day 1997, when a friend decided she’d get me drunk on New Year’s Eve and see what came of it. We’ve been married twenty three years, so I guess it worked out.

Pukin definitely ain’t any more fun at fifty than it was at twenty five.

I hate romance options personally because they feel like story obligations.  That and you can never really satisfy the fanbase with the options you offer.  The LGBTQ+ community will always moan about why a certain character isn't an option for same sex relationships and the straight fans will bitch about the opposite.  This is what happens when you let players dictate gameplay to developers.  It never ends well.

There is already a civil war going on in Cyberpunk 2077 over the character of Judy Alvarez to the point where modders have unlocked and altered game files so that male characters can romance her..... despite the devs clearly stated that "Judy likes girls.  We wanted it that way.."

This is why I like how the Saints Row, The Witcher, and GTA games seem to make fun of romance mechanics in other games.

I'm still bitter you can't bang Keith David in SR4.

My poor, celibate Shepard doesn't have time for romance options.  Maybe in ME2 or ME3.  We'll see.

Also since I never finished the Citadel DLC as FemShep - I was today years old when I learned that Tali canonically wants to have a threesome with Garrus and FemShep

Me too, though I have done Citadel as FemShep.  I've at least seen the video for the drunken Javik hookup, which is pretty good.

Pitt fan here, has there been any reports of Sherrill being part of cover-up's like Paterno and Bo? Sure he castrated a bull in front of his players to somehow motivate them, did the same shady recruiting tactics everyone else did(he really didn't do anything that bad at Pitt) and fired Jimmy Johnson during halftime of a bowl game, but those things can't be compared to what Paterno and Bo did.

I live in the Detroit area and the local press had their head pretty buried in the sand concerning the Bo cover-up story, so much of it was hidden behind paywalls.

I certainly don't know of anything at THAT level (That famous Paterno quote couldn't be more ironic) but he definitely brought, or perfected maybe, the sleaze at A&M.  I loved him as a coach, though.  He brought an energy to the program that disappeared for a long time after he left.

Slocum, oddly enough, was the one with the sexual improprieties, though it was more Bobby Petrino level.

  12. I'd find that reaction impossible to believe if I didn't once date somebody who's parents did essentially the same thing.

Almost glad my school has never had a legendary coach.  Bear Bryant trying to murder his players via heat stroke in the 50s doesn't count.  RC Slocum winning a bunch of games in the pathetic SWC doesn't count, and he was known to be a piece of shit when he was coaching anyway.  Jackie Sherrill is probably A&M's best coach of my lifetime, and being a piece of shit is his defining character trait.
