Reading online, I feel like I was the only person to tear up at the golem recognizing Giordi.

That was just one of the many bits that had me misty eyed. The Voyager scene with Seven and Jack had me crying.
That was the most Next Generation episode yet, down to some definitely intentional goofy dialogue during the big group scenes.
What's JG Hertzler doing? I want Martok. And while you're at it, show that's already filmed, how about at least a Garek reference?

    I love this season.

  2. Some of you who've been here for awhile might remember me posting about Frozen Dead Guy Days, the Colorado Festival I've volunteered as an emcee at for years. It outgrew the small town of Nederland where it originated 20 years ago, and last week NEW FDGD was held in Estes Park and yours truly was asked to emcee. I was interviewed for the Westword at the show, here it is! (I'm the John Hedgepeth in the article, for anyone who was possibly wondering).

  3. I really liked OC/ JJ, but I just can not stand Aubrey. I know she's supposedly a really nice person. I know that if you're going to do a match or angle like this, having a referee who's " part of the story" is fine. But I just hate it when refs are "stars". Aubrey is in the same category as David Manning and Dick Wohrle.  If you want to see how a ref can be a "character" and not be distracting from the action take a look at Tommy Young.
That match was awesome. It was everything I love. If the ref wasn't someone who already has a well deserved reputation as a referee who has to stand out as a character, it would have been perfect.

Started watching hill Street blues on Hulu, and it holds up pretty well.  Most of the stuff I've seen so far(4 episodes in) makes it feel like it was produced today.

I remember getting freaked out and scared during an episode of Hill Street Blues when I was like 12-13. The one where the two patrol guys get ambushed and shot. I was a kid, but I had already gotten to a place where I was disconnected from some TV and could react accordingly. But that fucked me up.

  5. I think we're past spoilers for this one, right? Cause I just have to say how incredible Michelle Forbes was in this episode.  Holy shit. Her scenes with Stewart were fantastic.

I'm still trying to figure out how freaking Moriarty and possibly Lore play into this whole thing. I guess Changelings can explain that. Or did they steal an old Lore, ( I don't know) or Moriarty's cube from Daystrom?

Hey, have any if you tried to watch the Ready Room with Wil Wheaton? I tried last night and had to turn it off fast. He's insufferable.  " Hey, Nerds!" Blechh.

  6. Everyone needs to listen to the part of the new Jim Ross podcast where he talks about meeting with Johnny Ace recently. It's hilarious. " Life's too short to hold grudges, even all the times he was a chicken shit. You gotta let that go, and I feel better that I did."

    edit:

Stay tuned for the crazy diversion into Grizzly Smith. "We didn't know! We saw him with all them little girls, we didn't know what pedophilia even meant!"

  7. I'm pretty sure Avery Brooks isn't going to be doing anything but his music, the theater, and teaching . Cirroc Lofton has said that Avery has been essentially blacklisted in Hollywood.

And I don't think this is going to be the actual Dominion with the Jem Hadar or the Vorta. The story is that this a splinter group of changelings who are acting outside of the wishes of the Founders.

I just hope she reenacts her scene as Honey Bunny threatening to kill every last MFing member of the Federation that moves.

Thats when she snaps. I love how calm she is. If she's actually our new Female Changeling that's when she should reveal it, man. Right as she turns into Odo face. The face that says, " I can figure out birds, guns, rocks, and all kinds of shit. But noses? " Those Bajoran noses were so hard he just gave up on faces.

Hell, it took old Odo hundreds of years to figure out faces on that time warp planet with the descendants of the crew.

So, the answer as to why they went hard after Picard I'm guessing is because of Lore (it's not a spoiler, we know he's coming).  So the question is going to be, why did Lore and the Neo-Dominion team up?

Lore is a team up whore. Crystal Entities, Borgs, and now Maquis Changelings, Moriarty, and Amanda Plummer. If they reveal that she's a Klingon who was made to look human and she's related to General Chang played by her father in the best Star Trek movie my pants will explode.

  10. Ok, so this isn't quite the Founders. Worf said someone of honor from the link told him about this splinter cell terrorist group of changelings. My heart fucking swelled cause that's Odo. Fantastic. Also fantastic is that it's basically the Founders' Maquis. I was marking out like a maniac all show.

  11. I can't wait to get home tonight and watch this. I've been absolutely loving this season so far, and even though everyone is trying to be spoiler free here, it's obvious we're talking about the Founders. DS9 is my favorite Star Trek so I am jazzed. I know Garek killed the last Weyoun, but fuck it. Bring back Jeffrey Combs.

Bill Mercer is unfairly looked upon without taking it in its proper context. He was a local DFW mainstay for decades in both radio and television. The man who told Lee Harvey Oswald that he had just been booked for shooting John F Kennedy, for crying out loud, during a press briefing. He called commentary for the Dallas Texans, Cowboys (including the infamous Ice Bowl game), Texas Rangers and various college bowl games. Oh and by the way, the voice of Dallas rasslin’ since the 1960s. Dude is a legend and a sweetheart of a guy who is genuinely touched that people still remember him. I’m also proud to say that he’s a friend.

Oh, a he's legend and a by all accounts a lovely guy. I'm just saying he was a pretty terrible wrestling announcer while being one of the greatest off site reporters in wrestling history. Mark Lowrence wasn't better. World Class never really had a great announcer.

  13. Has there ever been a performer on a wrestling show like Bill Mercer in WCCW? He was one of the absolute worst announcers of all time, but the segments he did and produced like the Freebirds at the pool, David and Garvin in the barn, investigative reporting from Akbar's office, tea with Chris Adams, etc, etc were fucking fantastic. He was SO good in the vignettes while also being a fucking awful announcer.
