  1. It's funny how the AEW version of Sting is...Sting
  2. I still jumped a bit on Wednesday every time the ring mic would randomly pick up Satnam Singh's otherworldly deep grumblings.
  3. Was I delusional or did Taz preemptively refer to Moxley more than once as a "three time AEW champion"?
  4. I actually liked that this was a "boring"-er show than usual. It's like the Sullivan booking post-Russo. Back to basics/damage control. Healthy predictability (as mentioned by some others previously in this thread). Hopefully Deeb getting the pin on Storm tonight doesn't mean she's only in that 4-way next week to eat a pin but I suspect that is the case. Exciting to see how over Starks and the Acclaimed still are. Hopefully they don't fuck em up like they have Sammy and Darby. Other big thought coming out of tonight is that after his loss to Danielson last week and then absence this week I suspect Hangman is being cycled out for awhile to downplay his presence in the Punk/Kenny/Bucks bullshit. I mean Wardlow wasn't on tv tonight either so it's not like Page was the only top guy not there but he hasn't been announced for anything upcoming either as far as I've seen.
  5. Danielson vs Jericho tonight was a gazillion times better than their ppv match. Like maybe "calling it in the ring", rather than being a cool and impressive example of how great both guys are, actually just lends itself to a lifeless exhibition of wrestling holds with a flat finish.
  6. For the second week in a row Dynamite goes off the air with a new star being born. Last week it was Garcia, this week it was that dude nervously holding up his dumbass sign.
  7. Good point and that's probably going to be a really great match too.
  8. I think the contrast between Dark and Dynamite spoke volumes about how weird the current ROH situation is. Claudio, their top champion, defends his belt on their YouTube show against a bum who gets squashed by Wardlow the next night on Dynamite. The Pure title, on the other hand, goes on last on their big weekly Wednesday night cable show and the title change is met with confetti. At some point I gotta think these two differing pictures have to meet somewhere in the middle.
  9. It's weird to think we lived long enough to see Taz go from attacking JR at the broadcast booth to literally becoming his broadcast partner.
  10. I was just thinking this the past couple weeks. Plus, I don't know if he's mellowed a lot with age or if now that his boy is a star and his faction has disbanded he's just dialling down the heelish hoodlum persona but I find his presence lately extremely welcoming. He does that Ventura "call it like I see it" tweener thing except, again, way more mellowed out than Jesse ever was. I almost got weepy eyed on Dark this week when he started sincerely complimenting Excalibur and telling him how much he appreciates him as a broadcast partner.
  11. It must have legit crushed Gorilla inside to be essentially shoot walking out his longtime friend on live (?) TV.
  12. Aw hell yeah Edit: imagine him coming out just for the PPV main events to read a proclamation before the title match?
  13. Could they just use Mark Henry in that role? He's imposing, likeable, has wrestling cred and Olympic Athlete Cred. Might be a little too much like Monsoon taking over for Tunney in '96 but I didn't hate that or anything.
  14. Not much too add. I tuned in hoping to see Moxley, Jericho and Danielson exude stoicity and professionalism in the face of their rostermates behaving like spoiled children and I got it. Tuned in to see MJF be MJF and be crazy over and got it. Tuned in to see the Acclaimed and Daddy Ass be over like crazy and got it. Wanted to see great wrestling, logical build towards Grand Slam, and basically just a bunch of corrective measures re how the ppv was booked and how the aftermath went and all.ot it was there. Fantastic 2 hour wrestling show. Hangman losing didn't seem off in itself but the fact him and Danielson didn't cut any promos backstage made me wonder if Page will be phased off TV for a little while due to his involvement in all the Punk and Elite drama (not as punishment but so the fans don't turn on him, as they were at times last night). Would have been interesting to put the title on him as an indication that TK runs the company and not Punk but clearly Moxley is The Guy so the timing wouldn't be right in any case.
  15. Man the Southern Tag Bro culture is out of control on this board sometimes. The most over guys on the show were two young POC dudes with a super queer aesthetic based around a scissoring gimmick and people are on here talking about respecting your elders and having compassion for Punk and his sense of entitlement and attributing the Acclaimed's success to their adherence to antiquated mid-south psychology (while in the same week defending Will Ospreay, a man who not only shits all over any semblance of classic wrestling psychology but would also cover up their own daughters' sexual abuse allegations if it meant one of his lads didn't have to get tweeted at). Why is everyone so shocked the Acclaimed were as over as they were? Are they not always the most over babyfaces on television every week as is? I'm gonna burn a confederate flag while pissing on Tracey Smothers' grave just to troll the boomer morons on here.
  16. Ever since Cole got hurt and JR can't mockingly say "bayyyy bayyyy" whenever he's on tv he's been coping by saying "liiiiisteeeeen" whenever Caster shows up.
  17. So TK is Bischoff, Ace Steel is Ed Leslie with no eyebrows, Larry the dog is Jimmy Hart, the city of Chicago is the Bubba the Love Sponge show and Chris Hero at some point or another will get dusted off to be the Dungeon of Doom.
  18. I need to sleep but I'm afraid I might miss an "emergency" Dave podcast
  19. just think, if you're Regal you gotta be pissed that you survived putting up with Luger and Bagwell in 2001 just to have to endure that press scrum in 2022
  20. Lmao the no-selling She Hulk Cargill thing made me lol too. Good thing TK is only in bed with Game of Thrones and carny online gambling, if Marvel.were a sponsor they'd have had a shitfit.
  21. Since we're all venting has anyone already gone into how weird it is that Excalibur and Callis kept working to establish that Omega's bandages and pressurized shirt thing were actually all a ruse even though, by that logic, he was risking his team losing to United Empire when they ripped off his shirt and he proceeded to sell and get beat on for several minutes? I feel like there was a longer arc planned for the worked bandages/ring rust and then they decided to drop it.
  22. It occurred to me when Samoa Joe came out that he's the television champion of a promotion that has no television which is maybe why he hasn't been on television
  23. I guess technically his voice already became an on-screen character tonight
  24. Punk vs MJF is shaping up to be Bret vs Austin except the crowd is forcing a double turn that neither the wrestlers nor the bookers want and I'm kind of excited by the radical and messy possible outcomes. Another good thing about this show: no Ospreay.
