  1. In case you missed it, Patrick Kane made his first-ever visit to Chicago as an opposing player on Sunday. It was Chris Chelios Jersey Retirement Day.

Kane celebrated by scoring the game winner for Detroit in overtime on a breakaway. Assisted by former Blackhawk Alex DeBrincat.

He got a raucous ovation from the Chicago fans.

Meanwhile, in part because of Kane being red hot, Detroit is red hot as well, having won 5 straight (3 in OT).

Q: How many random non-pro athletes does it take to win a fight with Cam Newton?

    A: Apparently more than 4.

(If you haven't seen the video, Cam appears to be attacked by four men. He tossed one of them off the platform thing they were standing on, wrapped one arm around a second, grabbed a third by the hair, and no sold multiple punches by a fourth like he was early days Undertaker, until security broke it up.)

One guy runs up, gets a full wind-up and DRILLS Cam in the face with a punch that ... Cam doesn't even acknowledge.  It's 1-on-4 and there's not even a glimmer of a moment where Cam looks like he's in trouble.

I know there was a Gonzaga game a few weeks ago where the tossing of trash on the floor was to the point where if it wasn't done so late in the game, they should have taken the time to just eject the entire Student section

God, that was embarrassing.  Completely out of character for the Kennel but horrible nonetheless.

If I were Filipowski, I would be suing Wake Forest.  I mean, the storming happened during the game.

Paul and Ringo refuse to allow Let It Be to be re-released because they don't like how it portrayed the band as not getting along, there's no chance in hell they, or Yoko, or Olivia Harrison, would sign off on it, so then you would probably not be able to get the rights to the music, and nobody wants a Beatles biopic with no Beatles music.

*Looks side eyed at Nowhere Boy*

Sony owns the music. They wouldn't need sign off from Paul & the rest.

  5. Adding to the transparent pants issue is also this:

Apparently, many teams aren't able to get pants. At all. Teams are literally breaking out piles of pants from last year and tossing them onto a table in the locker room for guys to wear.

There's also the issue that Fanatics isn't allowing the same customizations of the pants that Nike/Majestic previously allowed. They can still be tweaked but not nearly as much as before.

IE how to do a documentary based on a book written by someone in jail for domestic violence without saying you are doing a documentary based on a book written by someone in jail for domestic violence

There's another guy that's written something like 10 books on the Expos while not committing felonies that will likely be heavily featured instead of Keri.

Actually it's held by Pearl Moore, who scored a phenomenal 4,061 points at Francis Marion in Florence, SC (now D-II) between 1975-79 under the auspices of the NCAA women's predecessor, the AIAW (Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women). Clark is amazing but she isn't topping that.

    Yeah, I should've specified D1.

  8. So, you're Adam Silver...how do you get players to actually put forth competitive effort in the All-Star game?  We're not going to suddenly have the cutthroat mentality of Bird/Isiah/MJ transplanted into 2024 players to have the game be naturally competitive, so what are some potential solutions?

Apparently, there's a whole genre of video games where you do real life shit in a video game. There's (and I'm not kidding) PC Building Simulator, Crypto Mining Simulator, Bus Driver Simulator, Car Mechanic Simulator, Car For Sale Simulator, Cafe Owner Simulator, and Garden Simulator among others. I just want to do awesome stuff and pretend I'm a ninja through video games, not replace a simulated gasket on a simulated car.

Oh and all the ones I mentioned have Platinums.

PC Building Simulator has a sequel, too.

I have PC Building Simulator and it's pretty fun.

Yeah, he ranted and raved about how Sabrina should have shot from the WNBA line, and she would have done better if she had. Reggie Miller basically called him a misogynist in not so many words over it. It's not an exact quote but he said something like "you're basically telling her to go back and play with dolls instead of a basketball".

    Good for Reggie.

Kenny Smith is usually miserable when he isnt talking about himself but he is extra awful tonight.  Like someone told him he is working for free

Heard some people say he sounded drunk?  I haven't listened to any clips but I know he's getting roasted for criticizing Sabrina Ionescu for...shooting from the NBA 3pt line?  Even though she scored more points than everybody but Steph?  What an idiot.

  12. Even better for Jimmy.  His contract with the Raiders includes a provision that voids the guaranteed years if he's popped for a PED violation.  So he just cost himself $11.25m in guaranteed salary and handed a gift to the Raiders, who can now cut him without any cost to them.

  13. Caitlin Clark broke the NCAA* women's career scoring record with a career-high 49 points against Michigan. The record was broken on a transition 3 from about 30 feet. Completely ridiculous shot.

Clark is now 99 points shy of passing Pete Maravich for career NCAA points.

    * - as you may or may not have heard, the actual women's college scoring record is held by Lynette Woodward, who scored 3649 points for Kansas in the years before the NCAA recognized women's basketball.

  14. Rumor is that one of the 2025 Stadium Series games will be Detroit vs Columbus on campus at Ohio. The teams will supposedly wear uniforms in the colors of the University of Michigan and Ohio.

Detroit didn't see him play last year? Lol

The Lions have Hendon Hooker as their lone backup quarterback. Trubisky might suck but he's at least played.

Back in July, Jim Harbaugh predicted 20 Michigan players would be drafted this year. He named them. Two, Myles Hinton and Donovan Edwards decided to play another year in Ann Arbor. The other 18 were all invited to the NFL draft combine.

This is an all-time record for combine invites from a single school. It surpasses the record of 16 previously held by LSU.
