The guy who attempted to murder Girgenson should be suspended for life plus 10 years like Danny Davis was. That was among the most reckless and inexcusable hits I have ever seen.
Yeah, that one was nasty. Blatantly dirty.

Hagel got a game off for the hit on Barkov
Look for Aaron Ekblad to get a game himself for the Misawa elbow he hit Hagel with in game 4. In keeping with playoff tradition, despite being clearly seen by a referee 8 feet away, there was no penalty.

I know people hate foul calls in the final seconds, but Josh Hart literally put Hardway Jr into the photographers with no whistle on the would be game winning shot.
The NBA has admitted they blew the call.

Not the player per se but Jarren Duran had to be restrained by his teammates and the umpire from going after a fan in Cleveland
The fan shouted at Duran that he should have killed himself (reminder that Duran said in the recent documentary that he struggles with mental health issues and tried to kill himself a couple of years ago)
The fan clearly realized he fucked up as he tried to flee but Cleveland security caught him and ejected him
The Guardians then issued an apology to Duran and the Red Sox after the game
Cleveland is working with MLB in regards to further action against the fan (one would assume that at a minimum the fan will be banned from stadiums for the rest of the season)
Apparently the fan was actually rescued by security. Other fans in the area were looking to handle it themselves so good on them.

Wasn’t that similar to Murder One, or am I misremembering at 0300?
Maybe? I haven't seen that show but just read the synopsis and it sounds semi-similar.

Took a break from watching movies to revisit a little-remember TV series from a decade ago - American Crime.
American Crime is a serious drama that seeks to tell the story of a single crime during each season. This is not to be confused with American Crime Story - a show that tells the story of true crimes. In American Crime, the stories are fictional but are definitely realistic. Each season unfolds slowly and progressively with disparate stories eventually being tied together. The actual style of the show is unique in that it frequently makes use of dialogue that runs ahead or separate from the visuals being presented before the two eventually sync up. This can definitely take getting used to for some people. The show is gritty and dark with storylines that are heavy-hitting and intense. Season one deals with a home invasion attack on a young couple, season two the rape of a young man at a high school party, and season three the murder of a young farm worker. What's interesting is that the cast is largely unchanged from one season to the next and so you get Felicity Huffman playing three different characters, etc. The cast is stellar - Huffman, Timothy Hutton, Regina King, Benito Martinez, Lili Taylor and more. The show is a tough watch as there are very, very few "good guys" by the end of each season and little in the way of happy endings. Still, it's compelling, well-made, and interesting. Highly recommended. 9/10.

Aaron Gordon with perhaps the closest measurable buzzer beater dunk you'll ever see. Great finish.
And he was about 2 seconds from being ejected in the first half before being saved from himself by Zubac from Houston.

The Browns picked Dillion Gabriel over him. I'm going to need someone to explain this to me.
So they just solved the problem by drafting Shedeur, too. Which makes even less sense.

I trust Brad Holmes but I do not understand trading up to draft Isaac Teslaa - a wide receiver who had......... 28 catches last year. Without being injured. He's big (6'4") and apparently super athletic but... 28 catches.
-
The Lions picked up the option on Jameson Williams, who also just attended a voluntary team workout. Guess the rumors of him being traded were nonsense as everybody thought.
-
Kerby Joseph got PAID. 4/86 - highest paid safety ever.
-
In the 1970s, Charlie Finley suggested MLB have free agency every season with every contract being one year. The players quickly realized that would screw 98% of them so they went with the current system. College players will get there eventually.

We'll probably never know, but the thought of a team with SandersX2 and Rodgers brand of nuttery does make me chuckle.
If only we could somehow add Russell Wilson to that mix.

So, best case scenario is sign Rodgers and draft Sanders.
All problems solved.
And you're welcome.
Yes. Please give me a quarterback room with Rodgers, Shedeur, and Deion hanging around.
Seriously, though, if anybody can quiet the nonsense that the Sanders family brings, it's Tomlin.

LA blew a 4-goal lead against the Connor McDavids only to score in the final minute to win 6-5.

Back to the movies:
The Way Way Back - Steve Carell stars as Trent, the douchebag boyfriend of Toni Collette's Pam. Pam is the mother of Duncan, an awkward and shy 14-year old. They're spending the summer at Trent's beach house where Duncan is going to meet people and come out of his shell while working at water park Water Wizz. This is a throwback movie that could have been set in 1986 but isn't. There's plenty of clichés here - the pretty girl next door (AnnaSophia Robb) to be interested in him for no obvious reason, the black kids in one scene to teach the dorky lead how to dance, the cool older friend (Sam Rockwell) to impart wisdom and so on. And, yet, it works. This is a heartfelt movie that does nothing new or unique is entertaining nonetheless. Bonus points for the incredible Allison Janney as the flirty lush next door. 8/10.

I'll be shocked if he ever coaches again. What does he have left to prove?
I hate to say it but I feel like he's not going to be around for too much longer. Sure hope I'm wrong.

Rece Davis and ESPN are being investigated by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. On College GameDay, Davis called a betting pick "a no-risk investment" and that's highly illegal. Davis got talked to and tried to walk it back on air. That could result in ESPN Bet losing their gambling license. Likely nothing will happen but we're bound to see some fallout eventually from all this gambling nonsense integrated into our sports broadcasts.

I'm having trouble understanding the one about lining up in the path of the snapper. Has that been a problem? I feel like I'm missing something.
I like the one about injuries leading to timeouts. Should help a lot with reducing fake injuries.
Not such a fan of the rules on simulating the snap. It's ridiculous the way the offense is allowed to fake the snap and simulate it with claps, leg lifts, and so on and it's all legal but the defense can't do much of anything.

That's a great description of A Time to Kill. The source book is great, the cast is great, and so on - just as you mentioned. But it somehow doesn't rise to great. Still worth seeing.

Fucking wild the Jets won the Presidents Trophy. It doesn't bode well for their chances in the playoffs, but it is something that I never thought I'd see. Unfortunately the Western Conference is a murderer's row
So they will finish with fewer than 119 points. That's the line in the sand. No team who has won the trophy with 119+ points has also won the Cup.

Don't worry guys, I took over Kent State in College Football 25. They're in good hands. Fun fact, I was a football obsessed kid who actually lived in an off-campus apartment at Kent State for the last year my mom was in school. I don't think it ever crossed my mind to ask to go to a Kent State football game.
I could walk to Western Michigan football games in college. My roommate and I preferred to stay home and watch Michigan instead. I went to one game in four years. Hockey on the other hand...

Two weeks ago, Kent State put head coach Kennin Burns on administrative leave while investigating him for an undisclosed reason.
Whatever that reason was must not be good, because they just fired him and named the OC interim coach for the upcoming season.
Rumor is he was borrowing money from other coaches to cover gambling debt.

Hey, it worked for Jamie Benn last night against Colorado. He literally just skated right into a stick, lifted it up a bit and flopped to draw a penalty. And it worked.
