R-Truth tore his quad vs. Grayson Walker on NXT last week requiring surgery. Bugger. Get well soon.
Please, please, please Hunter, if you are lurking here with Tony K looking for ideas, PLEASE give R-Truth a huge comeback video set to Beautiful Day.
Build it up for weeks and have him return on RAW/SDL at MSG wearing a denim and leather jacket.
I think they could have built up a TV match with Roman.
Maybe get Gargano and Theory interacting a few times and Austin is all "I'm my own man now!" and to prove it he announces he's cashing in on Roman for the last Raw of 2022.
Build it up for a couple of weeks with sit-down interviews, Heyman and Sami trying to talk Theory out of it "for his own good", maybe Gargano and Candice actually tell him he's in with a shot?
Then you can do the match a number of ways:
If you want to build Theory up then you have Roman kick his ass but he doesn't quit. Go full Taker v Jeff Hardy with it.
You can have Jey try to interfere and nearly cost Roman the match by mistake.
If you want to send Theory back to NXT then you can have Roman hitting a Superman Punch and a Spear to win in 7 seconds before a new challenger (Lashley + Hurt Business) appears to close out the show.
Turn Dark into the ROH Power Hour. Keep it as a weekly show that shows off upcoming/underutilized talent. Get rid of the TV title, keep the rest.
Battle of the Belts is twice a year? At those shows we get ROH v AEW.
Pure V TNT - Pure rules.
In the weeks leasing up to BotB you run promos, interviews, vignettes etc showcasing the ROH champs that will be coming in to test themselves.
Yes, nine times out of ten, the AEW champ will win but you can still get value out of these matches and shows.
Right now there's zero direction and it's hard to get invested.
I wouldn't be against it.
Theyve built up Logan with One Lucky Punch but Roman hitting a Superman Punch and pinning him immediately would be pretty great.

But then they'd need both the Chamber, and the Double-Ring Cage, suspended from the ceiling, no?
Obvious answer: Double ring Chamber.
I'd like MITB to stay its own thing.
It's a good way to give the World Champs a night off and put some shine on the upper midcarders you are looking at elevating.
Go to a "Big 6" - Rumble, Mania, MITB, SummerSlam, KotR & Survivor Series - with "mini" PLE shows in-between.
Chamber should be like HiaC - Special occasions only. Especially with Wargames coming to Survivor Series.
The character breaking stuff is just going to make it hurt that much more when Roman has to put him down.
I still think Sami winning the Rumble is the best thing they could do right now.
I could see them ripping from Hangman v Omega with Sami v Roman.
Sami has Roman in the corner, lined up for a Helluva Kick.
The Usos are out and look ready to interfere but instead they give him the "Nod of Mutual Respect tm" and he beats Roman.
Solo follows his name and takes no side in the war, instead looking to win the title for himself from Sami.
Punk v Miz, to me, is a classic "talent v effort" debate.
Miz came in as a fan. He got a break through Reality TV. He was basically Logan Paul but without the fan base. He put up with hazing, bullying and outright abuse but stood straight back up and got on with things. He's now at the point where he's almost universally respected for all the work he puts in behind the scenes.
Punk has all the tools, but he knows he has all the tools. If he could humble himself for a day and take on some of the advice that others give him (instead of rushing to tell everyone else how to do this) he could have been an all timer. I don't know what his legacy looks like after AEW though. "Fool me once..." and so on.

Part of the problem with dealing with the next tier guys(below Peyton, Brady Rodgers for the HOF: How many do you put in? Sure the stats are good, but the game has changed so much, and in five years those numbers might not look as good after Josh and Mahomes each tear the league apart. I'm not sure what order you put them in, Rivers, Big Ben, Ryan, Stafford, Eli. Do they all go in, some or none?
Surely Eli is a lock, if only for beating Brady twice.

I'll get excited about KOTR if they announce all three rounds will take place in the same night. If it's just going to be the semis or finals then there's basically nothing distinguishing it from any other show.
That said, what have the best KOTRs been?
Bret in 93 is the absolute apex.
Lesnar just MDK'ing people on his way to the title.
Mabel. If only because it gave us more Men on a Mission for the boys at OSW Review #mo

I hear it's called "Shatter". It's by Code Orange.
It's FANTASTIC. THAT is an epic entrance song, holy crap.
I don't mind the song but it felt way too up tempo for Bray's entrance. Might grow on me but early feeling is a thumbs down.

The problem with this turn is that there's absolutely no match I want to see out of it right now, at least not more than wanting to see these guys wrestle other people.
Maybe Mox or Claudio vs Garcia if they can transition it.
I don't necessarily want to see Yuta vs Garcia again. I don't necessarily want to see Garcia vs Danielson again. I haven't seen Jericho vs Danielson from tonight yet (will catch hour#2 tomorrow) but I don't even necessarily want to see that, let alone see it twice. There are about 40 guys on the roster I'd rather see Jericho or Garcia wrestle than Danielson and 40 that I'd rather see Danielson wrestle than Jericho or Garcia, even if things got even more heated up.
I think we get one more Danielson v Garcia match - for the ROH Pure title - at Full Gear.
AmDrag getting to go full blown catch-as-catch-can with a kid like Garcia has to be a dream of his right?

Was thinking about this last night with the Good Brothers coming back -- how long, roughly, do you have to be gone from a company for your return to be shocking? If you got fired and then got rehired a year later, is that 'shocking?' Is that more or less shocking than someone who is still employed returning from a year-long injury?
Wrestling, by its nature, loves a shocking return/debut/signing. They're big moments that draw people in and make waves in wrestling media. AEW felt especially hot when they were signing so many big names over the last year or so (whether this was a good idea or not), and every show would have a huge pop and lots of scuttlebutt around who could show up next. WWE tried to sort of create an in-house version of this with NXT that sometimes worked (Sami Zayn! Shinsuke!) and sometimes didn't (Karrion Kross! ). I think Bron Breakker coming in will be a huge moment, but now that NXT is much more fully a developmental program, there's not a lot of meat left on those bones. With Hunter bringing all 'his guys' back in (for how long, who knows!), it makes me wonder if they have hit on a strategy the WWE could just use in perpetuity? Like, you still do your huge annual release, but then you rehire a handful a year later so you never run out of 'shocking returns' because there really aren't a lot of those left unless you are directly poaching them from AEW (see: Cody) or, I guess at this point, a Matt Cardona return would count as shocking?
I also am thinking here of when Mickie James got fired and then was asked to come back as a one-off, like, four months later which always felt a little more embarrassing than shocking. I am surprised that there hasn't been more "Geez, weren't you the guy they said wasn't worth the money just the other day? Did you take a pay cut or something?" from the fan base when these guys come back, but then again, I have no idea what the 'WWE fanbase' is or even sounds like anymore.
I think the only guys that would truly count as a 'shocking' return would be Jericho, Mox and AmDrag. Undisputed Era, FTR, Andrade, Black etc is just Hunter getting the NXT Crew back together.
Sasha/Mercedes would be a pretty big initial shock but I'd rather see her prove her worth outside WWE.
As for shocking debuts - Darby Allen would be my #1.
I think MJF and The Elite will both work for WWE one day, even if it's a 6 month run with a big Mania match ala Sting, but a guy like Darby in WWE just doesn't compute. Even a guy like Eddie Kingston could show up for a Foley-esque 'on his last legs' type run.
But Darby... I don't see how they would work it.

Yeah, but Jay White is dropping big hints (and possible false flags), so... maybe WWE and NJPW have worked something out?
Look, I just want Tanahashi vs. Roman at the end of night 2 in LA.
I've been wondering about the specifics of AEWs deal with NJPW.
Obviously there's the Jay White - Adam Cole/Kenny Oemga connection but outside that?
I could absolutely see Hunter going to them with a proposal for much bigger US exposure and opening up NXT for guys on excursion in exchange for being able to book dream matches like Tana v Cena and Okada v Reigns.
Is the Roman/ Paul match for both belts?
I could actually see them having a fuck finish and Roman drops one title.
If the Saudi Prince's nephew is a Logan Paul fan he might just buy him the title, even for a "Dusty Finish" that gets scrubbed out on SmackDown or something.

They’re married, but I’m good with bandido being the final addition for a good 5 months or so (assuming he even signs).
For the men? Absolutely.
But I think 1-2 more 'names' in the women's division would help out for sure.
With Britt & Jade being their own little universes, Storm (and Rosa) need more than Deeb, Hayter & Nightingale to defend against.
Unless they are gonna elevate Ford/Bunny/Conti/Anna JAS?

Mia Yim done with Impact.
Are her and Keith Lee still together? AEW can still use more name value in the women's division.
Ronda is a perfect example of someone who is over enough to leave be but who could be a fucking MEGA STAR with a manager.
As good as this run has been for Roman, so much of it should be credited to Heyman for getting him to that next level.
Give Ronda a decent spokesperson and turn her into Lady Brock and she'd be that 'special attraction' WWE wishes she was.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: If it's Battle of the Belts, have the matches be champion vs. champion but non-title. Especially with all the extraneous championships they have kicking around from ROH and their various partner promotions.
You could surely come up with some good match-ups between Moxley, Wardlow, Hook, Garcia, PAC, Joe, Jericho, FTR, the Acclaimed, Death Triangle, Dalton Castle/the Boys, plus outsiders who would be glad for the tv exposure. Who wouldn't want to see Wardlow bounce Brian Myers around, for instance?
And while they have fewer belts on the women's side, bringing in outside champions would go a long way to helping Jade get some more experience with people who have a bit more experience than, say, Willow or Anna Jay.
I've said it 1000 times.
Turn Dark into the ROH show. Keep the title matches exclusively there to help get eyes on it.
Then, in the lead up to BotB, you put on some 'SuperStar Spotlight' vignettes hyping the ROH champions.
BotB week is then ROH v AEW
TV v TNT champ
Pure v AA champ
Yes, AEW is going to sweep this more often than not, BUT it means that down the line if someone like Dante Martin is the ROH champion and he upsets Moxley in their match then it means something.
Turn ROH into your NXT and it will actually become MORE important, rather than just another bunch of titles that people (mostly) DGAF about.

Brock has an excuse with only having 2 years under his belt. Pillman has double that with a vast variety of opponents he's learned nothing from.
The best thing Pillman could do would be to try and get a development deal with NXT.
Work for free and bunk in with someone if you have to.
He's not going to get that kind of attention and coaching in AEW unless he is 'in' with one of the bigger crews like BCC or The Elite.
As awesome as AEW is in ring, there aren't a heap of people rapidly improving year on year. They have a few select projects and the rest fend for themselves.
Bray is the very definition of "less is more" in the ring.
He can get by on promos and aura alone for months at a time and then have a brutal, 10-12 minute brawl or 20+ minute plunder fueled main event.
If he's going back to "Cult Leader" Bray then recruiting Braun and Alexa to battle Judgement Day would be perfectly fine to start as a major feud.
I don't see him taking the title from Roman but I'm not sure that's really what he is. He will get a pop and move merch regardless of the title.

I don't mean to be *that* guy, but I need some more convincing that this isn't a work.
I'm not saying it is, but not quite ready to believe everybody this stupid yet.
I can believe the following bullet points:
- Andrade feels he's been "lost in the shuffle" in AEW
- Sammy thinks Andrade is over-rated and lucky to be there.
- Andrade feels that, under Triple H, he'd be a bigger star back in WWE.
- Sammy is an "AEW 4 life" kinda guy and is going all in on anyone who's not of the same mindset.

I think stuff like GoT and House of the Dragon has encroached on the Soap Opera for Men territory. Also, there is some nuance with soap operas. I would say wrestling is the junior high stage play for grown men.
Oh man, now I wish TV stars DID behave like wrestlers.
The GoT cast unloading on D&D hours before the premier of Season 8 would have almost been worth it.

So much unintentional (or was it?) homoeroticism in the Attitude Era.
