I've known Chris since he was just a fan coming to shows and heckling the guys.  Watch some old Capw (cleveland all pro wrestling) and you can hear and see him all over the shows.  The guy loved wrestling and it was his life.  A lot of people talked down on him and Thorne for being fans who have money and ended up running a promotion. They would often go to the bars and wait to get pics and mark out with the wrestlers. I don't see anything wrong with it but they had a big stigma around them for a while.  It is impossible though to not mention how great of a job Chris has done with AIW.  From day one to what they have become now is impressive.   I will miss Chris.

Yeah, this one was a bit hard to take after I heard the news. I think everyone was expecting him to recover at some point. Chris/Chandler had positive interactions with so many people and was just a great guy in general. It really shows how much people loved him, and how important AIW is/was to a lot of people, especially considering the amount of support from people in the business.

Fox is going to have 8 Cup series drivers do the entire broadcast for the June 10 Xfinity Series race at Pocono. Harvick, Logano and Bowyer in the broadcast booth, Danica Patrick and Denny Hamlin as the hosts in the Hollywood Hotel, and Erik Jones, Ryan Blaney and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. as the pit road reporters.

Can't ever accuse Fox of never thinking outside of the bubble. This is most likely going to end up being a glorious trainwreck.

It didn't end up being much of a trainwreck. It wasn't that interesting, especially the three in the booth were fairly boring at times (and Denny and Danica didn't even seem like they wanted to be there) but it could have been much, much worse.

I did get a kick out of letting Keselowski do the victory lane interview with Blaney, after Blaney did the interview with Keselowski on Saturday. Nice touch there.

Sooooo, Riddle fell ill and didn't make Tier 1 tonight.

Is Riddle slowly trying to stop getting booked across the country?

Canceled a ton of dates with AIW in Cleveland earlier in the year. Double booked himself with PWG and HOH. Missed this Saturday due to 'illness' (In New Orleans, totally fine, for a wedding on Friday). PWG announced he wouldn't be appeared at their June 16 show as well.

I didn't love the QBs at the top of the draft this year.  I'm more than happy with Thomas and Foster right now

Best first round, IMO. I wanted Cleveland to come trade back in and take Foster, even though we don't necessarily have a heavy need at LB.

And talk about hosing Chicago to move up for someone SF wasn't going to pick anyway.

If you've never seen Alex Daniels, you're in for a real treat on that NOVA show.  Got the chance to call a match between he and Chip Day that tore the house down. Very talented dude with a unique gimmick, to say the least.

I'm from the area he trained/worked a lot in the last few years (Cleveland)—definitely has been working hard, and the transformation in the last year or so has been incredible. I second what RandomAct says, I wouldn't hesitate to check out a show with him on it in your area.

I am not staring a new thread because only two people care but Carl Edwards is retiring

Edwards, Stewart, and it looks like Gordon is (FINALLY) retiring from any racing in the series. Biffle is gone as well.

Yet Michael Waltrip still has a ride for at least two races every year.

I'm sure this has been discussed but how is Lex Luger's book?  I've been enjoying his 96-97 stuff and the preview on the Kindle sounded decent.

It's decent from what I remember, but lacked depth. A pretty quick read that I'd recommend if you can get a used or cheap copy.

    Bartender.

I have a journalism degree. I would really, really like to put it to use. There aren't a lot of jobs or money in the field, but writing is the most natural skill that I have. I did an internship at a newspaper last year and it was enough to let me know that I don't really want to work for one. If I was doing sports or investigative stuff, it'd be different, but I quickly saw that everyone I was working with was pretty much chasing sirens 80% of the time.

Now, this is something I'd be down for. I like editing a lot. Writing can be absolute torture for me at times, but I can edit til my head falls off.

I started in journalism (degree and first job) as well and quickly found out I'm a decent writer, but editing suited me much better. I hated the late nights and the story-chasing. Feature writing was the only thing I didn't dread.

If you'd want to pursue it, find a temp or permanent position as a proofreader and get some experience doing that (there's ALWAYS temp jobs available if you're in the mid-size city), and you'll easily be qualified for copy editor/content editor positions. I'm still amazed my journalism degree led to something 9-5 with a decent paycheck and great benefits.

I ordered like the vintage fit or whatever from them.  It's like 2 bucks more, but the shirt is so much more comfortable.  Got 3 shirts from them.  all great.

Are these like the soft/vintage fit/style that tend to be fitted for taller, slender types that are in-style now?

Looked to purchase something from prowrestlingtees.com but got the impression these are vintage fit for the slimmer/taller fellas. Which, I am not.

  10. I have a physical copy of Titan Sinking: The Decline of the WWF in 1995 by James Dixon to get rid of - asking $17 shipped via PayPal which is cheaper than Amazon/eBay/etc. Like new.

Pretty interesting read (it's discussed somewhat earlier in this thread). Reads like a detailed history if you're into things like that. I'm not, but powered through anyway. Definitely had some things in there I didn't know, and has some interesting takes on angles and performers.

I'm shocked about Killam.  Seemed well liked and always had lots to do in the show.

Also seems odd to drop the guy who does Obama now.  Pharaoh never really found his niche but he had his moments.

I always thought Killam would become the mainstream, breakout star. Pretty much anything they threw at him he knocked it out of the park, but never really ended up with a 'defining' character ('Eddie' and 'Jebidiah Atkinson' were definitely two of my favorites, probably the closest thing to standout characters he had). Definitely sad to see him go.

  12. If you're in the area (or perhaps would want to travel), AIW out of Cleveland is bringing in a decent amount of name guys for their AIW Against the World show on August 26. Some of these guys don't get to the midwest that often.

    • Josh Prohibition vs. Nate Webb (AIW Title)
    • Tommy End vs. Ray Rowe
    • Louis Lyndon vs. Chris Hero
    • Teddy Hart vs. Facade
    • Tracy Williams vs. Michael Elgin
    • Laredo Kid vs. Triton vs. Matt Cross vs. Alex Daniels
    • BJ Whitmer vs. Shawn Schultz
    • Plus Shigehiro Irie, and I'm guessing some of the regulars that are available (Gargano, LeRae, DJ Z, Cedric Alexander, Veda Scott)

Was that what the Hasbro's were originally supposed to look like? Some of em are the same, some of em are different, some of em never existed.

... 32 years and I still regret getting rid of my Hasbro collection :(

Nope. Purely artist renderings that someone did a few years ago. They aren't based on any 'inside' information on the Hasbro line.

No other figure line captured wrestling quite like the hasbros. They were terrific.

Other than the tan bushwhackers I have about a full set too, and they're sitting in a box until I get some shelves up.

By the way, those new retro figures are fantastic!

I loved those figures! So much so, I went back a few years ago and collected the complete collection. They look great once you set up everything.

Waiting to see how those new ones will look, and how close they are to the actual original Hasbro figures.

AIW would be the most likely to do it I think Haku is the only they haven't booked for a show.

Parker was great the few times they brought him in. Still has the quick wit and standard dialect/dictation/tone he used in WCW, and looks exactly the same.

Buck was another story. He just can't go and is REALLY limited nowadays.
