  1. I haven't seen enough of Corey Graves to judge anything, but that kind of look and attitude of Punk.2 will get over in no time. I like how he was a legitimate chicken heel, basically avoiding confrontation at every cost. I think a lot of heels are over today because of confronting their opponents as equals, I remember The Miz had some good moments as a heel precisely because he kept winning when you thought he didn't have a chance 5 minutes alone with Cena. And being the life of the party here: Adam Rose hasn't debuted on Raw and I'm already sick of him. Everything seems so forced, the party already has the chants creative wants to get over, "Be a lemon", the rhythm of the song, etc. They're trying to emulate a post-crowd Mania reaction everywhere inspired by the Fandango thing and as we know, forcing the crowd something will not exactly get the best reaction. I love the idea of a Russell Brand inspired gimmick, but I'm not sure Rose has the talent or charisma for that. I can't wait to be wrong, though. He will be over for a while.
  2. Eve Marie specially had the performance of a lifetime.
  3. I'll need to watch a recent show to prepare myself for that NJPW card. Any DVD suggested? I'm more interested in seeing the new talent and the dynamics of the roster, since I haven't seen anything since Tyler Black was the champion.
  4. Hero was really good. Supposedly he was a diva backstage or whatever. But his feud with Regal was aces. Just seen his match with Regal and it was great. Then again he could probably carry me to a good match with his facial expressions and selling, man I need more Regal in my life. Go on Hulu and start watching NXT from the middle of 2012. Or you can even go on YouTube and watch some old episodes of FLorida Championship Wrestling. I made a thread for it in this sub-forum. I'm slowly catching up on things and NXT has really impressed me. One particular match, Sami vs Cesaro, was easily a contender for MOTY. And I love how the champions is Pac, I never thought seeing him this high when just a couple of years ago he was doing a show in my country mixed with the TNA roster. One thing I've noticed is how the show is treated by WWE: like an alternative. When Stephanie McMahon presented the Arrival show, it was funny seeing the crowd confused, they didn't know if they should boo her or cheer her, and this is when she was already a heel on Raw. This established NXT as a parallel universe to WWE in my eyes, being everything TNA wasn't: a true alternative to WWE. They keep things basic, with the feuds, storylines and matches being straight-forward while showing you can have your over the tops gimmicks in a fun and subtle way. They don't try to pack an one hour show with every talent on the roster as well. But there's no need for me to beat a dead horse in this thread.
  5. What's the difference between this new PPV and the one they did a few years ago, Respect is Earned?
  6. I feel sick to the stomach for having missed this show for so long. I took a break from wrestling and while slowly catching everything, NXT has been a fun surprise. Can't believe how I missed the evolution of stars I like so much, like Cesaro, Rollins, Paige, the Wyatts... and how was Chris Hero? Wasn't he good enough for WWE or something else happened? And with the interest of ESPN on her, I was paying attention to Renee Young on commentary, and oh man is she great. Fun, natural, charismatic and light, I really want her to stay on WWE.
  7. The Paige match was easily the most exciting thing on the show for me. She really seems to have a natural talent for wrestling, the way she pays attentions to the details, perhaps the execution still isn't quite there but I can see her being a huge part of the Divas division for many years.
  8. - I thought it was a good show ruined by an awful crowd. It was weird seeing the likes of Sheamus and Orton getting the biggest ovations in 2014, not to mention Evolution getting no reaction. - It's impossible not to like Paige, but to be fair she was given Alicia Fox and more than 30 seconds to work, so that helps. - Cena in goofy mode is cringe worthy. Cole and Lawler forcing a laugh to a joke that appeals only to 12 years old isn't the best direction for this feud right now.
  9. I wasn't aware she was just 7, so I searched her thinking she could have some twitter account. Found out there's this pornstar named Aurora Rose in twitter who posted about one month ago she was changing her name for legal reasons. Interesting to say the least.
  10. Though unintentional I'm sure, this segment of your post reveals some critical flaws with your idea. "Needs to be attractive" is bad enough, but a "feminist" character whose primary motivation is slut-shaming? Uh... The character needs to be attractive because otherwise it would turn into gimmicky parody of a feminist. You wouldn't give Kane the role of a cool anti-system rebel. And the issue isn't slut-shaming: the wrestlers kiss the ass of Vince and the bookers to get pushed, the divas sleep with them. There's a subtle difference between this and slut-shaming I think.
  11. Maybe I'm joining the nostalgia-fest, but every PPV feels like a "Greatest hits" CD. Remember when the cruiserweights, the tag team division and even the divas had 10-20 minutes to work? And this was back in 06, I really feels like the PPVs lost the appeal. Maybe it wasn't the way to go, paying every month for a PPV of one brand to see mid carders, but I can't helpo but feel it was better, like a normal CD: you have your top hit, a couple of singles and maybe some filler. But because it was all you had, it made you care about the filler. i dunno, every PPV sounds like a greatest hits, where the world title is defended in the beginning. That killed WWE for me (and probably growing up too).
  12. See, my story is different. I didn't have cable TV in my youth days and hated how my friends always talked about wrestling. I didn't understand the appeal of something "fake". Then a friend gave me a DVD with Summerslam 05 and after the entrance of the Undertaker I was a mark again. This was in the beginning of high school, by the end it reached the peak of popularity here and even was in national TV for a while. I believe after the Benoit scandal they switched to cable again.
  13. I was just thinking about how great a feminist character would be in the Divas division. She could do a "shoot" on how every diva is f'''king top guys to get 2 minutes of tv. She needs to be attractive, but never wrestle with panties or anything sexy, although knowing WWE they 'd get over the top. She needs to be right about the morals, like Punk, to work. She could be booked as a heel at first, but eventually the crowd would love her and WWE could do their PC ads about how a great influence she is on young girls.
