  1. Also, Christian referencing the McMahon/Helmsley regime was so unlike usual WWE protocol. They barely acknowledge things that happened six months ago, so for Christian to logically reference something that's 13 years old is pretty interesting.

I thought it was a nice call back to a similar situation in WWE history but I also remember Edge and Christian being members of the McMahon/Helmsley Regime, or Factgime as they would refer to it, or at least they where in favor with HHH and Steph. I mean they were there playing triple H's theme on kazoos.
There was a stretch back in the attitude era where Edge and Christian were referencing old continuity, so it's just in keeping with his character.I've been waiting for him to randomly bring back big crazy ass sunglasses.
  2.

I haven't been paying much attention to his entrance pops but the crowds are consistently into all of his matches. That's more than what can be said about most wrestlers. And I wouldn't take too much stock in who some of these crowds pop for. Last night half the Phoenix crowd popped pretty hard for Orton when he first came out and the cameras had to pan away and turn down the volume.

Brings up a question I had: are they gonna change Orton's music? Because that song is always gonna get a pop.

They'd never do it, but I always thought that "HEY! nothing you can SAY!" was great smarmy bastard music.

That would be unbelievable if they changed Orton's music back to that. The change to Voices properly reflected his change in attitude back in 2007, but now he is back to being HHH's chosen one and is more arrogant then psychotic (and I think could allow of an awesome reaction if/when he turns face again and Voices hits).

Unfortunately Orton did an interview last year where he said he absolutely despised that song from the moment he heard it and was glad he finally got a new theme.

Wasn't he slated to have Punk's original WWE music at one point? (NEVERMIND, someone else already mentioned this)

  3. What's the plan with Sandow? Have him win Money in the Bank and then make the audience entirely apathetic towards him? Give the man some heat for crying out loud. If you're going to shave Cody's 'stache, let HIM do it.

Yeah, I can't believe they aren't giving him a massive winning streak like all of the other MITB winners.
  4. What ruined Too Cool was Christopher's drug issus. And even then S2H had a pretty decent mid-card run. You can argue that they dropped the ball with big 'kish because there was a window where he was really fucking over. Wasn't it on SD that he had that great, great match with Hunter?

Yep, oddly enough back during the McMahon-Helmsley Regime era.  IIRC, they tried to rig a drawing for who would face HHH, and somehow ended up pulling Rikishi's name out, leading to a big "Oh shit" face from HHH.

  5. Watched the AJ promo. I guess they expected there to be a lot more support for the Total Divas girls, and it didn't happen. It was a great promo in terms of words, but I don't know what it set out to do,

I almost wonder if they have market research showing surprisingly little overlap between the audiences for Raw and Total Divas.  I doubt it, but if so, they could completely book for Raw and frame what happens on Total Divas in whatever context they want.

Kind of how they frame whatever happens on Smackdown however they want, since no one watches it.

  6. Speaking of HHH, he is basically the greatest troll ever. I have to give him credit, the past two weeks he has made me interested in the heel authority figure again. He comes across like a boss from a Sega Genesis beat em up; the shadowy evil corporate dude who you get to at the end and he rips off his shirt and it turns out he is tougher than all of his stooges.

If I had a signature, this would be it.

  7. Would anyone be surprised if the "The WWE title is my personal property, Randt just carries it for me" was a riff on something Vince has said before?  I mean, it seems straight from a Cranky Vince post.

  8.

Spike helps but Hogan gets a lot more than Angle and Sting per appearance. TNA shoulders the majority including all his travel perks and he's not flying coach then heading over to the Hertz stand and sharing a car with three other guys and then rolling over to the Courtyard to check-in.And I'm not sure Styles doesn't have any negotiating leverage. WWE's stocked well on credible heels but they're not exactly overflowing with credible main event babyfaces right now. Cena and Sheamus are hurt. They just turned Orton. RVD's a non-factor, they've fumbled with Ziggler and before that they dropped the ball on Del Rio and completely shit the bed with Ryback.Sign Styles to a two-year deal, let him keep his name, push him as a big deal and they'll have another credible main event babyface. Plus, they'll be setting an example for Sting that WWE is willing to treat an "outsider" with respect so maybe Triple H can accomplish the "impossible" for a second year by getting Sting into WWE for the HOF and the WrestleMania match against Undertaker.Have Barrett and Fandango beat down Miz. Next week Flair tells Miz he got him a tag team partner that's "Phenomenal". Styles debuts on Raw, same name, same pyro shower intro, flys around off the top, dropkicks those two tall dudes right in the face, and finishes one of them off with either the Styles Clash or Calf Killer, and just like that WWE has another credible babyface headliner. Maybe he saves Bryan from the Shield later that night or next week. Beats Ambrose for the US Title and then says he's going after Orton next. Miz somehow gets a US Title match but it ends in a no-contest when The Shield takes out the ref. For the rematch, Flair gets named special ref and he and Miz turn and join up with Trips' crew. Styles teases that he's got someone to watch his back and the lights go out and a scorpion logo appears on the TitanTron. At whatever PPV is before WrestleMania, they can either do Miz & Orton w/Flair vs. Bryan & Styles w/Sting or The Shield vs. Bryan/Styles/Sting and the next night on Raw for Sting's first promo, he just howls and points his bat at the WrestleMania sign.

No Bunkhouse Buck = no buys

He's building suspense, so when Buck finally arrives, the crowd will explode.

  9. They had this weird attempt at elevating Val Venis in I wanna say...2000, where he turned heel on Mick Foley for no reason(And kept giving him the testicular claw) and wrestled Stone Cold in the main event of a Smackdown. It was all done really poorly and came so out of nowhere, that no one bought into it at all.

Wasn't the Val mini-push around the same time as Al Snow's mini-push heel turn based on all the jokes in Foley's book?  I feel like there were some Val/Snow - Rock/Sock matches back then, and the crowd just wasn't buying it.

There seemed to be a lot of guys the crowd just didn't buy getting briefly pushed into a high spot back then, continuing on into the early days of the brand split.  Val, Snow, Billy Gunn, Bubba Ray.  I think that is what made the initial Benoit/Jericho push so energizing.  It seemed like one of the rare times back then where who the WWE was trying to move up the card completely coincided with who the crowd wanted to see move up.

  10. Owen was really over doing the Sole Survivor thing. He should have at the very least had that title match at IYH: Degeneration X with Michaels instead of having it on RAW. I get that Michaels probably refused to work much with him, but the crowd was popping big for Owen at the time.

I feel like Owen is the answer if anyone is.  He came back and was red hot attacking HBK, and then got shunted down to an endless Euro Title feud against HHH where every match seemed to end in Chyna cheating to give HHH the win.  The crowd was pretty red hot for Owen until it became clear he wasn't going to go over HHH, and then he randomly joined the Nation.

  11. Would it be a great dick move if HHH tried to hand Daniel Bryan a newly re-instated cruiserweight title and appoint him as the new champion?  Then book him in a match against the last champion?

This could really work if HHH hypes up the match between the last champ and Daniel Bryan and how we'll finally get to see who the true cruiserweight champ is, only to bring out the last champion... Hornswoggle.

  12. They should give Randall Orton Bo Dallas's fake face gimmick, in line with HHH's false praise of Bryan.

Also, was I the only one waiting for Steph to tell Bryan he was B Plus Plus material?
