  1. I'm actually really happy to see him bust that out, and I'm surprised they didn't have him doing it earlier to cross-promote the Goldberg DVD.

"Ryback is taunting these fans chanting Goldberg, but you can see the real thing on the new three-disc Goldberg DVD, available on WWEShop.com!"

This is fantastic heeling.  They should have him keep it up for a while, kind of like the Jericho-Goldberg stuff.  Maybe they can convince him to come in for a quick WM buyrate, but worst case scenario, Ryback gets heel heat from using the moves, he loses a few (more) matches, and ditches the moves, calling them worthless, to debut some new finisher that kickstarts a win streak.

  2. Completely unrelated to Daniel Benoit, I was wondering recently if you could make a character who was basically a smark troll (Like moreso than Triple H), take someone who smart fans hate and basically make his unspoken gimmick that he interrupts feuds the smart fans are into (Dolph-Bryan etc.) and 5 Star MOTYC type matches. Would that draw the right kind of heat? Because one of the problems WWE has is every time they have a top heel, they gradually get so over that the crowd just stops booing them and starts to like them (Has happened recently with Henry, Bryan, Ziggler, even, to an extent, the Shield and happens even more so in NXT with guys like Tyler Breeze getting better reactions than guys who are pushed as faces), so if you were able to push a guy whose entire purpose is to annoy the fans that end up turning these guys, would it result in good heat (Say, buying PPVs to see him get his comeuppance after ruining "good matches") or bad heat (Where they would just stop watching). Because that's exactly the gimmick I would give The Miz. Have him interrupt various beloved wrestlers matches (Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, a newly-turned Shield) and hit his zenith by having his music play during the Wrestlemania main event (So he can brag to be the first wrestler to ever crash the Wrestlemania main event, whether it's true or not).

They basically did this with Steven Richards starting the RTC.
  3. I hope if Bryan's trainer turns on him (HBK), his mentor (regal) shows up to even the odds.

This would lead to Regal coming out and giving his Eugene speech to HHH again. Only to eventually turn on Bryan and explain that he and HHH go way back, and that guys like them (Bryan/Regal) don't make it to the top because it isn't best for business. Then, when Bryan gets pissy about it, Regal drops the "do you think you're better than me, sunshine?", leading to the first ever six-star match.

  4. I think it would be fun to see HHH trying to uncomfortably relate to the Wyatts. Acting like he buys their religious bullshit, differentiating them from the Shield, who were simple mercenaries.

I would love to see Triple H and Stephanie journey to the Wyatt's decapitated run down cabin the woods."Wow, this place is, eh, cosy. And I like how that huge axe hangs ominously in the corner."
"I would have gone for a sledgehammer there, but the axe works for you."
  5. The quoted analyst Michael Nathanson wrote in a research note that "I think this is very scary if your name is Vince McMahon. Viacom will pay more for TNA Wrestling Entertainment thin WWF did for WCW.

This may be the funniest thing Vince reads all year long. Yes, truly one inept company massively overpaying for a shitshow wrestling promotion is going to make Vince quake in his boots.
I can almost see Vince buying it, a) to spite this guy and b ) as a final dig to WCW in that it wasn't even worth as much as the shitty futile Jarrett vanity spin off that rose, err... feebly stumbled from its ashes was.
  6. The dirtsheets were reporting a while back that Orton/Bryan was scheduled to be blown off at HIAC and that Orton was scheduled to be in the title picture through the Rumble. Make of that what you will.

So am I the only one who noticed them planting the seeds for a Bryan/HHH match?

It could be that we see a transition to Orton/Show for the title, with Bryan being side-drained into a feud where he has to go through certain people to get to HHH.

They definitely planted the seeds for the Bryan/HHH match down the road.  "I only get in the ring with big stars" is to HHH's match with Bryan what "You can't wrestle" was to HHH's WM match with Cena.

  7. Does it strike anyone else as silly that, with John Cena's return imminent, the announcers are arguing over whether Bryan or Orton is The Face Of WWE?

Well Bryan is technically still the Being John Cena champion.

  8. I'm convinced that either Big Show gets "bought off" by HHH or HBK screws Bryan in the main event. It's just going too well.

HHH had a line last night where he told Bryan he was so over his head that he "didn't even see what was happening here."

I took that to mean "Hey dumbass, HBK is going to turn on you, just like when he superkicked the Rock to help me win on that early (the first?) Smackdown, and just like he did when he refereed my Hell in the Cell match against Taker at Wrestlemania."

Is it obvious?  Yeah, but they haven't brought that stuff up at all, which means they don't want us thinking about it.  Instead, they've been laying in the HBK was Bryan's trainer and HBK is unhappy with HHH stuff.

  9. I liked that little time period where Arn Anderson got wins over Flair and Hogan. It was about 10 years too late, but still.

I liked that little time period where Arn Anderson got wins over Flair and Hogan. It was about 10 years too late, but still.

Didn't he beat Hogan twice? I felt like he beat Hogan by DQ one week and then the women's shoe to the face the next week. Or maybe I'm thinking that Hogan took the women's shoe to the eye in consecutive weeks and lost to Arn and Flair.
He beat Hogan two weeks in a row, I believe.
  10. I know people are getting tired of the "turn the Shield/Wyatts" face fantasy booking, but I get the sense Wyatts are being groomed as HHH's new enforcers, or at a minimum, will be sent after the Rhodes once the Shield loses their rematch.

    Why?
At this point, it is probably just coincidence, but they've just happened to come out after a couple of the fringe guys who have stood up against the Authority (Kofi, now Miz). Given that HHH and Steph were bitching out the Shield even before losing the titles, it would be easy to spin it as HHH has been using them all this time.

  12. Wasn't all the recent talk that Hogan was trying to get back to WWE for WM 30?It'll be a fantastic pay day for everyone involved so I'd think a fair few legends would want in.Can we get a Hogan/Warrior moment? Have 3MB try to 'steal the show' Hogan comes down and gets near the ring, stops and points to the ramp and heeeeeere cooooomes thaaaaa waaaaaaariooor!!!Legends clear the ring, pose down and hand shake.Mania moment created for those there live, we get all nostalgic at home and Hogan and Warrior get their paydays.

Only if the finish to the rumored Bryan-HHH match is Warrior then running down to the ring and squashing HHH for the save to relive another classic WM moment.

  13. My main problem with this whole storyline remains Stephanie.  I think at this point it's clear that IF she gets her's (and that's a massive if), it will come at the hands of a Diva.  But after a couple of months of semi-feuding with AJ, she's all of the sudden doing her favors by tossing her opponents to the wolves?  Her lack of focus is killing me.

Her lack of focus on the Divas is one of the most realistic parts of this angle.

    3. Why was the fiancee screaming behind the closed door even though it appeared that Randy Orton wasn't even in the room when Bryan entered?

    4. How does Shawn Michaels figure into the upcoming match? Has he been established as overwhelmingly favouring Orton over Bryan, or are we just supposed to suspect that he might because HHH is his buddy?

I noticed #3 too.  Bryan bursts through the door, Brie is screaming, Bryan asks "Where is he?!?" and she's all like "Eh, I dunno..."

As for #4, I get the impression we're supposed to be shocked when HBK turns on Bryan, just like we were supposed to be shocked each time Dusty turned on someone to help Cody after lecturing Cody about his evil ways.

  14. On Talking Dead, the new showrunner talked about how this episode was basically setting up where things were now, so you got a sense of how nice things were before it all went bad, pretty much starting at the end.

Hardwick also pointed out how the super nerd coughed into their water supply before dying.

  15.

I never understood why anyone cared about ratings. Do you all own WWE stock? Then that would make sense. I don't own WWE stock. All I do is watch the programming. It's been the best and most exciting stretch of wrestling in years. That's all I care about -- great storylines and action. That's what they're giving us right now.

WCW's demise and TNA's soon-to-be demise (???) are why fans should care at least a bit about ratings.

Monday Nitro was still one of the highest rated cable shows on TV when it was cancelled.  Money Marks > Ratings.
