The only reason BPJ is getting this treatment is to show less established AEW performers that they’ll be given a look in nXt. That dude is as mid as mid gets.

So in other words, it does make sense to let people go who might get signed to WWE?

Re: the cuts: We don't know what we don't know. People are real quick to jump and make lasting statements so they can get out there first or just to get things off their chest.

That said, of what we do know, I sure don't like it.

If they’re releasing people now, they should release Malakai and Miro.

So he's saying nothing that hasn't been said before from his side?  Just stirring the pot because....reasons?

He literally hasn’t said anything publicly about All In until now.

  4. The John Tenta episode was pretty heartbreaking, but I enjoyed hearing about his success in sumo wrestling and Japan pre-WWE. He had such a beautiful family that it's heartbreaking to know how much he struggled toward the end, and the wrestling business offered little to him other than the comfort of the memories.

Two big problems with the John Tenta episode. First off, the tangent with the Shockmaster stuff. This wasn't the Dark Side of the Shockmaster. It wasn't the Dark Side of Fred Ottman. It wasn't the Dark Side of the Natural Disasters. It was the Dark Side of John Tenta. I get they probably wanted Haku's reaction to Shockmaster and things like that, but it was a tangent that served little purpose and did little to add dimension to Tenta's story.

Second, they made a point to mention that no one came to Tenta's funeral. His work friends knew he was sick and dying. They knew he died. Yet no one went to his funeral? Tenta seemed well-liked and beloved by his peers, and yet no one explains why they didn't go. The documentarians either didn't ask or they didn't show it. They make it a point in Ed Leslie's episode to ask about Hogan and Leslie's current status, but no one asked any of these Hall of Famers why they didn't go to their beloved friend's funeral? What are we supposed to do with that? I think the Dark Side creators are fairly good at their work, but I didn't understand any of that. Also, Tenta's friends not sending any regards to his family seems fairly abhorrent.

The Forge thing was weird though I'm not sure all of the X-men met him. Was Storm in that episode?

They said they knew the virus, but were not going to be able to fix this strain in time. it was spreading too fast and outside of the intended control environment. Guessing whatever it was Logan's blood wasn't going to be enough, especially given it was designed specifically to kill. The death sentence was more because Scott and co. freed Nathan too soon.

Yes. While all the X-Men didn't meet him in "Cold Comfort," Forge was there standing with them when he helped free them from the Phalanx in Season 5. Storm was in that episode and standing right next to Forge. I mean the important thing here is that Beast knows who he is. Beast was one of the people who sought Forge for assistance during the Phalanx incursion.

OK re-watching the episode, you are correct, Beast does call it a variant, so I guess that's why. I assume Sinister got the same virus from Apocalypse and experimented with it. Though it still seems rather convenient they got these highly advanced healing antibodies from Wolverine to cure the techno plague in Season 2 and now it's fairly useless. Wolverine's blood also cured Leech when he was sick.

But all seems rather convenient that Bishop doesn't mention Forge by name. And Cyclops and Beast are like, "You know Forge? The leader of X-Factor?"

    EDIT:

So in the epilogue Storm doesn't seem to recognize Forge at all, even though he saved all their lives during Phalanx incident. Minor oversight. Storm and Forge were there but they never interacted. Still, she should've had some recollection of him.

The continuity of this show has never been perfect.

  6. My biggest problems with Episode 3:

    Spoiler

The X-Men have already met Forge and know who he is. So why not just go see Forge now?

Also, didn't the X-Men already encounter this virus before? Wasn't the "Not the Legacy Virus" plague in Season 2 the same basic thing? In season 2, Cable even called it the techno-virus. Also, Cable gave Wolverine the virus to help develop the antibodies to prevent it from spreading it to mutants. Wolverine's healing factor basically became the catalyst to curing the plague. Beast tested Wolverine's blood at the end of the episode, basically examining the antibodies, so now there's a cure to this plague.

Also, this technovirus was created and designed by APOCALYPSE, who Mr. Sinister was working for in Season 4. So is this not the same virus? is it a totally different virus? I feel like there are clarifications that need to be made here.

I enjoyed all the Goblin Queen material and the nightmare fuel/psychological horror visuals. We got a little bit more development of Morph as well, which I liked.

Not sure when exactly the Jean/Madelyne switch happened. I can only assume it happened after Sinister and his cronies kidnapped Jean at the wedding in Season 4.

Sort of sucks for Cyclops right now. But at least the way this version is done, he looks like less of an asshole scumbag.

  7. More of Ronda Rousey airing her grievances, including regarding Vince.

“Everything just being beholden to this near 80-year-old man, who has five or six episodes of ‘Behind the Bastards’ about him, is not a very good business model.”

    Quote

“I just didn’t wanna be Vince’s action f—-ing figure anymore. I felt like I was like doing custom matches for a f—-ing sicko in the back,” Rousey said. “All power to the girls that keep fighting the good fight. But I’m in my mid-30’s now. I’ve got s—t to do.”

    Quote

“He was never gone while I was there. He was just phoning it in through Bruce Pritchard,” Rousey claimed. “My agent who works at WME (Endeavor), he was telling me, ‘You know, he’s completely gone now, I swear.’ And I’m like, I’ll believe it when I see it, because everyone said he left before. He never left. He was there by text message.”

I'm curious if that's all she says because she really didn't say much at all

Nope. This is getting buried with all her general comments:

    Quote

“I was rehearsing in the ring with some of the other girls before doors opened to the fans, when Liv made a beeline to the ring from Gorilla. “Have you seen Aliyah?” she asked. We shook our heads. Aliyah had come up to SmackDown the year before. She had been partnered with Raquel Rodriguez and they’d briefly held the tag team titles, but then Aliyah was sidelined with a shoulder injury.

“I just ran into her [Aliyah], almost hysterically crying,” she [Morgan] explained. “[Aliyah] was asking if it’s true that none of the talent wants to work with her.” We exchanged confused looks. I didn’t know Aliyah well, but I’d had nothing but great interactions with her. She was one of the sweetest girls in the locker room.

“Why would she think that?” I asked. [Morgan responded] “They wanted her to come back from her shoulder injury right away, but she said she needed more time. That’s when Bruce Prichard told her that all the producers were trying to bury her and no one wanted to work with her. She was really upset.”

I felt my jaw and fists clench at the mere mention of his name. Bruce Prichard was another Vince McMahon crony. If “What did you say you do here?” was a person, it would be him. No one knew what exactly his job was or how he got it. He was the type of guy who carries a briefcase just so it looks like he’s doing something, yet somehow, he’d wormed his way up to executive producer, handpicked by Vince because he knew Bruce was the kind of guy you could control from a distance through an earpiece.”

    Screw Bruce Brichard.

Or Tony could look in the mirror and realize his refusal to do something when the issues with Punk and The Elite started and deciding to ignore it and hope it went away is what led to everything going to shit. Punk doing what he did wasn't a matter of "If" but "When", if it wasn't Perry who set him off it would've been something else.

I think you are projecting. And if Tony Khan really believes that, why has Perry remained persona non grata in AEW?

  10. If Tony Khan blames Jack Perry for costing him CM Punk, then just fire him. Jack Perry isn't a draw, and he's not important to AEW's bottom line. If he was, we'd have seen him on TV in the last six months.

If you are to believe The Sun, (and who doesn't!) Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been "formally offered" to become the 7th man to play James Bond.

For his part, this is what ATJ said:

Since the next Bond is gonna be a big thing, it gets its own thread.   The thread will change titles when the new Bond is picked and we have details on the new movie.

No details have been set on the 26th Bond movie yet, other than it is confirmed to be happening.

    I don't.

I agree, but I'm also positive they're going to have two teams grab a different set of titles each and use that to split the belts again.

Not sure why *that's* the approach they're taking, but hey.

They don't really need to split the titles, just like we don't need split world champions.

WWE booking has made it clear we know who the real world champion is, and it's not Seth Rollins. Even when they revived the World Heavyweight Title, they at the same time branded Roman Reigns' belt with UNDISPTUED on it.

It's the same with the women's division. Rhea Ripley is treated like the true star and face of the division. Iyo Sky is not treated with the same prestige. WWE worked just fine with part-timer Roman Reigns as the undisputed champion for over a year. It proved we didn't need two world champions. And if they wanted split tag titles, they never should've unified the belts in the first place.

  13. Josh Fine was also an executive producer and writer on Wolverine and the X-men as well. So he has experience working on an X-Men series.

The first three episodes were very good. The show's a lot more mature and a bit edgier than the original series. The action and fighting is more detailed, fast-paced, and elaborate. The animation takes a bit of getting used to but at least it's fairly consistent. The movement is relatively smooth and it lacks that kind of weird jankiness that makes it hard for me to get into What If.

Quite a few deep cuts with the comics, and they are clearly setting up big multi-episode, multi-season arcs.

I like how they recreated the original intro and outro. The new intro is very much like the original series but they sneak in some new character intro moments and new character beats and Easter eggs. The new outro is an updated version of this:

  14. I thought the last stretch of the Gauntlet Match was incredible, but once Gable started going crazy and screaming "I NEED THIS" it became obvious he was going to lose. I'm a little disappointed because Zayn vs. Gunther, while I'm sure it will be a fine match, does nothing for me at Mania. WWE did a great job of making me care about Gable and wanting him to be the one to finally take down Gunther, which really could've made Gable's career and cemented his legacy.

Sami has already cooled down significantly from his Bloodline feud and challenging Roman.

Doing a big schmoz ladder match at Mania for the tag titles makes no sense to me. Judgment Day has been feuding with R-Truth for months now. They've basically turned it into just a big spotfest so everyone gets on the card.

Good promo by Cody. But if Cody somehow doesn't win at Mania, all of this is going to be for nothing. Cody can cut a good promo when he's not talking stupid nonsense.
