AEW isn't over CM Punk. Tony Khan isn't over CM Punk, and it seems the roster isn't over CM Punk either. This guy who works for AEW and wrote a message to Meltzer for the first time in two years apparently still isn't over what happened with Punk in AEW.

The audio and presentation last night were just bad. Everyone is saying the audio problems are caused by TBS, but why don't they fix them?
I don't really hate the direction they are going with the Bucks and Jack Perry, but it seems like fans aren't really into it and don't care? The crowd last night just didn't seem interested. Maybe it was the audio and acoustics, but it sounded like a low-energy crowd. Leaning into the CM Punk garbage this way late into the game was detrimental to everyone and AEW's TV product. It didn't help them long-term at all. Ultimately promoting a guy who they fired and doesn't even work for them anymore.
Sure, they did actually capitalize by bringing back Jack Perry, but again, your TV audience doesn't appear interested at all. All they see is a dude who got choked out by Punk.

Did Lesnar go to court years ago over his no compete?
Yes. A settlement was reached.

Kayfabe. Ospreay is a crazy good actor in the media scrum. It’s behind a paywall but I guess Fightful Select is saying it was a planned spot.
Thanks for that. I didn't watch the pay-per-view tonight, and Ospreay's acting skills are definitely underrated.

So apparently, Danielson was hurt on the Storm Driver? Is that accurate?

Will Ospreay vs. Bryan Danielson was a terrific match but I HATE when Bryan Danielson does the seizure sell and with his history, when doctors come in.
Didn't they literally start a restriction or rule against doing that?

The correct move would be to have Jinder Mahal three months from now attack Hook on PPV. Jinder can say he just made AEW and Hook relevant again.
-
Say what you will about Jinder Mahal, but he got cut before, came back and became WWE Champion. That's a pretty successful career all things considered.

That article was a strange read, but it did notably reveal that McMahon is maintaining contact with The Rock and Cena.

Alvarez & Meltzer were talking over the weekend about Vince starting a new promotion (they said nah to that one) and their key question was, "who would he be able to get?"
Now come on. That's the one problem he wouldn't have. He could lean into the whole "people used to love me talking about my genetic jackhammer and grapefruits! Woke wrestling cancelled me!" thing and hire every sexual predator, MAGA choad, and otherwise undesirable currently not working or not working much and looking for a payday. Off the top of my head:
- Marty Scurll
- David Starr
- Jack Gallagher
- Joey Ryan
- Jimmy Havoc
- Michael Elgin
- That one Crist brother
- Tyrus
- Tessa Blanchard
- Alberto Del Rio
- Flip Gordon
- Tyrus
- That one neo nazi/neo nazi-adjacent deathmatch guy whose name escapes me
Shit, he could promote it on Truth Social
You forgot Matt Riddle.

I'm always for younger lesser experienced guys touring Japan. This situation has been poorly handled but I think him working for New Japan is great for him experience wise. It's not even been a week since the footage aired and it seems the Bucks are working him into whatever they have going on so I don't think they dropped the ball with Perry yet. The PPV is next week. If he doesn't show up by The following Dynamite or Colission then maybe it would be a cause for concern.
Fair point.

Tony Khan is so incompetent he won’t even book Jungle Boy on TV and attempt to draw heat on the one party they can from the whole CM Punk bullshit drama. You are literally letting New Japan draw all the heel heat of your guy because you are pissed at him for costing CM Punk. Fire Jack Perry or stop mentioning CM Punk.

Not sure where Anthony Ogogo has been for like 20 years, but it was nice to have him back on TV again tonight. He should be on TV more. He's a great athlete and a natural heel.
Also, death, taxes, and AEW continuing to not care about Battle of the Belts.

Announcements coming out today that the next season of Lower Decks, the 5th, will be it's last. Also, Strange New Worlds is already renewed for Season 4 (even though Season 3 isn't coming out til next year).
I hope any potential Paramount acquisition doesn't kill Strange New Worlds.
Just as an example, the Discovery acquisition killed a lot of WB shows, especially animated ones, even ones that got renewed. Plus we all saw what happened to Batgirl and Coyote vs. Acme.

Guessing its been a few years since that incident in the show, and their involvement is realistically probably not well known by anyone but the X-men. The Hellfire Club is a group of mutants with power and influence in literally every way. It makes sense they would take up leadership if given the chance. In general though that council felt like a bit of a shout to the Krakoan era that just ended.
SpoilerOK but the leader of the X-Men was there, and a person with memories of the Hellfire Club and no one batted at an eye?

Spoiler
I was confused why Sebastian Shaw and Emma Frost were not only in Genosha but allowed to have roles in the governing council. Maybe Frost turned over a new leaf after the Apocalypse incident, but Shaw weaseling his way in there didn't compute. Both were major red flags considering their roles in the Dark Phoenix Saga.

That last episode was brutal. I badly needed a hug after that.

What does it matter if there were loud **** CM Punk chants? That doesn’t make this show less of a dumpster fire. It’s a weak attempt at a defense by Meltzer for something he knows was garbage.

Tony Khan has always wanted to be one of the boys. That’s why he can’t function as a leader.
