I tried to watch the video, but I couldn't. I don't know if it was the editing, or if it's his personality, but it was just boring. Give me a Sid any day.

The only Lesnar match I'm interested in is the rematch where Hogan finally gets his heat back.

I swear, if I ever get within arm's distance of Teddy Hart, I might go for it. He is so fucking punchable.
How will you deal with his army of trained cats? You really think they'll let you get within punching distance?
I have three cats. They'll wait for it to finish then snack on the leftovers.

So the WWE has instructed Papercutz, publisher of their comic series, that in all reprints CM Punk is to be replaced by another wrestler. In the first storyline he and Cena are the two main protagonists, with his role being based around the "voice of the voiceless" thing. I stopped reading after the first couple of issues, but I think he plays a major role in the next storyline as well.
So, who do you think they tape to fill his shoes? Given that they can't really be someone who's already in the comic, that rules out the following (taken from comicbookdb.com):
Dean Ambrose
Curtis Axel
Brie Bella
Nikki Bella
Big Show
Daniel Bryan
Camacho
John Cena
Antonio Cesaro
Christian (WWE)
Zeb Colter
Alberto Del Rio
Luke Harper
Mark Henry
Paul HeymanHunico
AJ Lee
Brock Lesner
The Miz
Randy Orton
Roman Reigns
Seth Rollins
Erick Rowan
Ryback
Jack Swagger
Triple H
Undertaker (Wrestling)
Dolph Ziggler -
IIRC, it was more of an hour-long angle.

Yeah, a top 25 should be easy for TNA. That's an average of two matches per year, and match quality has never been their biggest problem.
-
Another note from watching these Nitros: I wish the heel to the eye would come back as a finish but that would require valets. Maybe Lana and Rusev?
And Hogan had a crappy figure four.
Maybe he's actually the one who gave it to the Miz, and Flair was just a false-flag operation.
-
Watching a Nitro from August '96 and heard Konnan and Larry Z. refer to the NWO as the "New World Odor" twice in the span of like three minutes. Come on, guys.
A little down the line, keep track of how often Zbysko says "The New World Order is in disarray."

People keep bringing up Wade being injury proned, he has been more proned to being stepped over for terrible people:
- 2010, Miz
- 2011, Zeke Jackson
- 2012, Jericho/Sheamus
- 2013, Fandago/Miz/FUCKING CURTIS AXEL
- 2014, Swaggie
Like if they had just pushed the guy instead of jobbing him to Sheamus or some suck ass performer, he wouldn't be getting "hurt so much." And I like Sheamus, but Wade is clearly better than him in every way except for milking a ten count. I will agree that Mark Henry isn't a guy I remember a lot of matches from. But fucking hell that Summerslam 2011 match with Sheamus is pro wrestling.
Not to get back in to this whole thing, but I think that there are four people you list as worse than Wade that has at various points in their career had consistently better matches than him. I don't want to say you are wrong for liking Wade Barrett, because the absolute best part of this board has always been that anyone can talk about anything, no matter how "wrong" or "uncool" the opinion is, but I think it's telling that I look at that list and think "Miz and Swagger are terrible, but I can think of at least 5 matches from either which stand out to me more than a Wade Barrett match ever has".
But you have to remember, it's not just "at points in their career", but at *that* point in their career. I'm hardly the biggest Barrett fan in the world, or even this board, but I don't know if any of those guys *at that point* were better choices.

I have a question. In the days of strict kayfabe, at what point in a wrestler's training would the "it's a work" part come up? I know some trainers are famous for stretching new students to dissuade anyone who didn't want to stick to it - but at some point they had to reveal the truth to the ones who were left.

From Meltzer a while back "People are going to hate to hear this, but the really stripped down [WWE Network] television version in Canada is a huge success," Meltzer said. "It's more expensive and you get far less, but it's on television not on the Internet." So apparently being available on TV and not just on the internet is still a huge deal. That might continue to change but it will probably take many years and I doubt Vince has the patience.
"Huge success" might be an overstatement given that right now only one cable company (albeit the largest) is carrying it.

Spoilered for size:
That's a pretty stacked card. I'd go if I was anywhere near Belleville, IL.
Couldn't they have gotten a more pixelated photo of Chuck Taylor? That one's just too high-res.

As a couple aside - never ever EVER do a youtube search for Dark Fantasy (who was my original choice for today)
I am fairly sure I am going to get a visit from IT
Your IT department doesn't like Kanye West?
Can't say I blame them.

Speaking of which...
Someone pitch me a Mania card that doesn't outright suck. You could probably squeeze 2 or 3 good matches at most.
One that doesn't outright suck is easy. One that doesn't outright suck and is plausible, however...
New Day vs Usos vs Dust Bros (pre-show)
Ascension vs MizDow
Rowan vs Big Show
Bray Wyatt vs. Ziggler
Ambrose vs. Harper
Randy Orton vs. Seth Rollins
Sting vs HHH
Bella vs Bella vs AJ
Cena (Rumble Winner) vs. Lesnar (Champion)
The face/heel dynamic feels off-balance right now - off the top of my head, Swagger, Reigns, Rusev, Henry, and Cesaro could all be on the card too, but that's three heels and two faces.
Mind you, I personally wouldn't spend 4 hours watching this, let alone $60.
$9.99
Not where I live.

The rabbi?
When did Bad News Barrett convert?

I still maintain that Shawn going over Bulldog in England was the right move. Shawn became WHITE HOT heading into the meat of the Taker and Bret feuds, and Bulldog was always going to be a draw there, so it didn't hurt his status, especially since he was basically screwed out of the belt by DX interference. The only thing I didn't like was the European title treated like shit afterwards.
Still, how many instances do guys have that kind of heat in real life? Babyface dedicates the match to his dying sister, it's in his hometown, and the heel is such a prick, he steals his thunder, takes his belt and hits on his wife afterwards. The entire building screaming with anger and the ring filled with broken bottles and debris says "pro wrestling" to me. I love that match, but I can see where others would disagree.
It's great if it keeps fans coming back. Without a payoff, it risks killing a territory.
Obviously, that didn't happen here... but it was a dangerous choice.

Man, all this time I was getting him confused with Survival Tobita.
-
Just my snarky way of referencing He Who Shall Not Be Named, because I'm lazy and I don't want to type all that.
The board could use a framistan for that guy's name.
Cunt Bitches seems as good as any.

I hope Sting shows up for the main event only for Team Cena to turn on him en masse.

I don't think of Goldust and Booker as a temporary tag team, I just think of them as a tag team. They weren't thrown together as "two guys are feuding, let's put them in a team where they won't get along to further the angle" (like MVP and Matt Hardy); they weren't "let's throw to main eventers into the tag scene to give them something to do/pad their title reigns/make it look like we care about the tag division"; they had angles centred around being a team, rather than just being sent out there for time-filling matches; and they were together for a decent amount of time (for nowadays.)

I'm amused that the last few pages have seen both the argument "the WWE's core audience is too old" and the argument "the WWE needs to sell itself to the older fan".
It's a strange situation, to be certain, and I wonder if the demographic figures factor in children below a certain age.

It was taped earlier today, sorry. Is there a spoiler thing here that I should be aware of? Considering the TNA taping results were discussed months in advance of being shown...Yeah thanks for the spoilers outside of the Raw thread pal
In the TNA thread, not the general wrestling thread. There was a Raw one you should have used.
Isn't the Omnibus Thread a "Here There Be Spoilers" thread anyway? Or was that only pre-crash?
