  1. Sami beats Reigns tonight.

In a couple of weeks, Roman invokes his rematch clause. Jey turns on Sami. Roman gets his belt back, they chair Sami to death the way they did Kevin Owens.

Bloodline reign of terror leading up to Mania.

Sami and Kevin beat the Usos for the belts on Night 1.

Cody wins on Night 2. (Or not.)

Bloodline completely falls apart over the summer.

Jey vs Roman at Summerslam. Jey wins.

Roman takes a vacay. Comes back for a face run.

Or, they could've just had Jey turn on Sami tonight.

Regardless, seeing Sami and Roman not even have to lock up for the first three or so minutes because the crowd was going that nuts was a goddamn marvel to behold. Though the ending was disappointing, that match ROCKED up until the overbooking kicked in.

Not related to anything specifically in these matches (which I will watch in full after this classic 'meeting that should've been an email') but there's something about the CWFH/M/A presentation that I really, really like. I think the red/blue color scheme is subconsciously giving me fond memories of watching Raw and Tuesday Night Fights as a kid, maybe some AWA vibes in there too (though that predates me).

Same. It has a studio wrestling feel, but with a modern touch, while keeping it simple. I like the camera work, too.

Also, Davey Richards kinda looks like Ron Garvin in the face now. I dig it.

Is it too early to say Jamie Hayter is the best AEW Women's World Champion ever? The match with Toni Storm to begin her reign, Hikaru Shida and Emi Sakura were all great. Looking forward to Hayter's rematch with all three. Hikaru Shida had a great year long reign and I really liked Dr. Britt Baker's run more than some also.

I think she's headed that way. She's definitely the champion the belt needs right now.

  4. I lived less than a mile away from the venue that ROH ran when they first started coming to Detroit. I was there when Mark did the SSP off the ring truck and I was there later that year when Mark under rotated on that SSP to the floor. I remember Jay changing out of his ring gear out on the front sidewalk while they were waiting for the ambulance. You could easily see the care and concern that he had for Mark. Hell, you could see how close they were their entire career.

I think my favorite Briscoes Detroit moment was when Jay told Davey Richards to "run along with yer no-belt-havin' ass." Once those two found themselves on the mic, it was absolute magic from then on.

There are no words that capture how tragic this is.

I'll miss you, Jay. Thank you for everything.

    1. Starting when you are 17 (or so). I saw them wrestle for MCW at their high school (I think) in 99 or 2000.

    2. Country living in Slower Delaware on the chicken farm

Those two work entirely way too fucking much. Wrasslin', farming, raising kids, and they had or have a lawn maintenance business, too.

  6. I love that my Detroit Pistons got mentioned on this episode, but Bill Laimbeer DID NOT foul Kareem.

I'm over MJF , the guys just goes for the lowest, most obvious and uncreative insults every single time, It's gotten very old and I hope his reign is not too long. It's not even shocking what he says anymore if he says exactly the first thing you thought he would say every time.

    Take-a-shit-ah was so goddamn dumb.

  7. I've got Everybody Knows by Jordan Harper, Assata Shakur's autobiography, and An Indigenous People's History of the United States on the way to my house right now. I got Kindred by Octavia Butler for Crimmis. Gonna start there and see where the year takes me.

Gotham Central = great series. Greg Rucka and Ed Brubaker reimagine the Gotham Central Police Department as The Wire, or more accurately, Homicide: Life on the Streets. Spectacular ending too. Best Bat-book I've read in a long time.

Gotham Central RULES. I saw the whole run in a single issue "boxed set" at a comic shop in Chicago over ten years ago and I still kick myself for not buying it. I HAD THE MONEY.

  9. I read Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents by Octavia Butler in, like, 8-10 days 'round January and February. I totally hyperfocused binge read them. I couldn't put them down.

I also read the second Dune book. Shit went sideways this year, but I'm lookin' to get back in the saddle in 2023. Jordan Harper has a new book out and another one coming out in January, and I'm gonna read more Octavia Butler. Probably gonna throw in some Toni Morrison and Assata Shakur's autobiography.

Aaaaaand I just remembered I have Gary Hart's book on my computer. That, too.

Every single person on this board is morbidly curious what 2022 Richards vs Jericho would look like.

Gotta say, there's a Mox/Sami vs American Wolves tag on youtube from this year and the Wolves were in there stooging and Eddie's kinda chubby now and Davey doesn't get as much height as he used to on his kneedrop and it wasn't inside a Steel Davey Richards.

    Just sayin'.

    Juuuuuust sayin'.
