  1. The only album Converge has put out since Jane Doe that I don't really dig is No Heroes. Beyond that, they have been so remarkably consistent. They also challenge themselves and don't put out the same record over and over again when they very easily could have gone that route.

If you ask me, if you exclude everything before When Forever Comes Crashing, they're on a run comparable to Fugazi, and I don't throw that kind of praise around lightly at all.

  2. Imperial Triumphant - Inceste

    Blood Incantation - Starspawn

Check out Cloak from Atlanta. They put out their first seven inch earlier this year, and uhhh, those fuckers are gonna take over. They're in that In Solitude/Tribulation/The Devil's Blood realm, but heavier and meaner. They're the real deal. That seven inch is up on their bandcamp.

If I think of anything else, I'll make sure to post.

I'm sure it was a work, but one or the other hit a haymaker and it got into a bit of a shoot.

DB had to work hard to get here, and even then, WWE ignored him during his best years. He was the most over person in the company and THEY TRIED TO TURN HIM HEEL. Meanwhile, Miz did a reality show and got a shot. Put the other in the other's shoes and it doesn't happen the same way.

Miz hasn't been injured, but Miz also doesn't work main events. He works 5-10 midcard matches. No reason to go out of your way in a throwaway. Meanwhile, DB has been expected to produce top quality matches for almost 15 years. I can't think of 5 good Miz matches off the top of my head but I could name double that in Daniel Bryan matches.

Top quality matches can be had without doing the insane, stupid shit that Daniel Bryan was doing. I love the guy and run pretty much every match I've seen of his up the flagpole, but goddamn, he was a smart enough worker to get over without giving himself brain damage. Or, maybe he wasn't. Regardless, he should still be able to wrestle at this point in his life, and if he was, he and The Miz could get a damn good match out of this. That he isn't able to do it is pretty much entirely on Daniel Bryan, and that fucking sucks.

So judging by the guys from the CWC that NXT either had wrestling or at ringside at the tapings tonight...

Ibushi, Nese, Sabre Jr, Gulak, Rich Swann, Noam Dar, Jack Gallagher...

yea... NXT is gonna be just fine no matter how many people get drafted.

Maaaaannnn, I was really, REALLY hoping to see Mascara Dorada in that list.

  5. I've been seeing a lot of hand-wringing, pearl-clutching, and outright hostility towards Durant over this move, and personally, I think it's a bunch of horseshit.

Durant doesn't owe anyone outside of his immediate family a damn thing. He's been with that team for nine years. They've come close on a couple of occasions, but haven't gotten it done. Presti's draft picks aside, the organization has not done what it needed to do get over the hump and win a championship. I've got a sneaking suspicion that Durant isn't as enamored with playing with Westbrook as he would like to be. There is also no guarantee that if Durant had stuck around, Russ would have done the same thing after next season.

I see far too many people ascribing their own moral code to a situation that doesn't concern them, nor would they ever come within kicking distance of having to go through.

Judge away, but just remember, it ain't about you.

Me, I'm gonna sit back and watch the hell out of next season.

Keep feeding him till he gets to 82. Cmon.

Nah. Since he needs a record to break next season, go for 101.

He might be the only player on earth that could pull it off.

  7. Yeah, that Enzo and Cass/Revival match was THE SHIT. Enzo is putting it together in the ring and I loved how he came down the ramp. Both teams made more than the most of that opportunity. There were some really unique spots in that match (the aforementioned shoulder tackle cutoff, for example) and both teams looked insanely hungry. Enzo flat out looked like a star tonight.

  8. Anthony Davis with 59 points and 20 rebounds against the Pistons. Only the third player since Wilt to pull that off. Smashed the previous single game point record at the Palace, which was 48 by LeBron back in 07. The Pistons played some great D on him, but he just could not be stopped.

  9. Now that we're several games past it... How the fuck did my beloved Pistons kick the Warriors collective ass up and down the Palace court? A healthy GSW team playing with a day of rest... Did that really happen? How?

And how long are the Warriors going to stay pissed about it and keep taking it out on other teams, including some that are way better than Detroit?

Man, I think that was the Pistons playing their perfect game. Like, the absolute peak of what they're capable of, probably even beyond. But, they're a looooong ways away from putting that kind of game together consistently. And it's going to be a long while before we see them play that well again.
