  1. Watched the show last night after work and really, really enjoyed it even though I felt like shit.

I've been pretty down on Mox since the Death Riders angle started, especially when he took the bump on Spike. I still wish the death match stuff wasn't a part of AEW, but I do think it's pretty remarkable that the promotion is as big as it is while incorporating it.

    BUT.

Jon Moxley really, really does not have to put himself through glass, nails, tacks and forks. And while there's a part of him that genuinely likes doing death matches, he does it specifically for AEW. That's pretty fucking cool.

As people have said here already, he really did cement himself and Adam Page as stadium main-event wrestlers last night.

Also, it feels like the grimdark era of AEW was really an outgrowth of everything that happened with CM Punk. It really cast a pall over the promotion. For me, the lone bright spot was Toni Storm. There was very little fun to be had and maybe that was by design. That's probably reading too much into it.

For as much as flak as the Death Riders angle got and for as much as I was in a rush for it to end, the end was very, very legitimately satisfying. It wasn't relief. It was earned, it had gravity and it ended the exact right way in a stadium full of people.

Turns out AEW is pretty fucking good at doing the professional wrestling.

I wonder if Moxley does the old trick of loading up on aspirin. When he got him with the fork, that blood came out like water.

Pretty sure you could take the bristles of a toothbrush to his head and the same thing would happen. He's got one-ply toilet paper skin up there.

Oh hey I had totally missed that Detroit also brought Caris LeVert back to Michigan. That's fun, reuniting him and Robinson as a bench duo.

There's gonna be a sign and trade with Schroeder, too.

After the Beasley news, Trajan Langdon has pretty quickly turned the Pistons' offseason around.

Speaking of Beasley, his dentist garnished his wages. He owed a barber over 20 grand and owed over 10 grand to a local hotel.

He had multiple lawsuits against him as recently as last year. I don't know that the Pistons would have resigned him regardless of the federal investigation.

It's pretty clear he has a gambling addiction. Just a fucking awful situation. He played his way into a massive raise this past season, but it's probably over for him. Hopefully, he can get the help he needs.

  4. That main event, man.

I've been able to appreciate Will Ospreay for what he is. I don't go out of my way to watch his matches, but I'm always down to watch his sprints. Anything beyond that is not really my cup of tea.

    But, damn. This one?

    It's his career best match.

    Might be Hanger's, too.

Either way, it fucking ROCKED and I'll definitely be watching it again.

  5. Easy, guys. Jamie's one of my favorites.

To be honest, there's probably nothing else I can say about her wearing that shirt that can't just be filed under "Settle down, southofheavyetico."

Shouldn't have even brought it up 😆

    It's 100% her idea.

    From a recent interview

""I know it was jarring at first because I looked so different - but this is me. I'm bringing myself more into my wrestling. My favorite band is The Doors. When I was hurt, listening to their music would cheer me up and get me pumped. I'm really into 60s, 70s psychedelic rock. I love Kate Bush. Music makes me feel good."

"This is like a new album in my career. I like the whole counterculture movement, and I draw a lot of inspiration from that. We’ll see if it's everyone's cup of tea."

Fuck that, I've seen her in a Rollins Band shirt.

  7. There really isn't much I can say that hasn't already been said, but I'm saying it, anyway.

He really was the last of his kind. No one has had that kind of aura since. Hell, there's not much more than handful of wrestlers that even feel real anymore.

Sabu was too real. My favorite Sabu moments are when he showed up on RAW and Nitro. He really showed how far behind the eight ball those promotions were. They were moving in the right direction, but still a little out of touch. He was too damn much for them and they weren't enough for him.

I would stay up to catch Hardcore TV when I could and when it was airing. I don't know how many episodes didn't feature him in some capacity, but I would be bummed if he wasn't on. He was one of the two most important people to that company, the other being Terry Funk. Third is Mick Foley. Terry brought the legitimacy, Mick had the promos and was an essential part of the spirit, but Sabu was the soul. He set the bar for the company and captured how far it was willing to go.

On top of all that, just one of the coolest wrestlers to ever do it. Muta in '89, Road Warriors in '86, Sabu...you get the idea.

As an aside, I watched some of the highlights of his last match last night. Is it just me, or was he moving almost just as well as Cena outside of not really being able to point at the sky all the way? Regardless, it's absolutely remarkable that he was able to do that match at that age considering the absolute hell he put his body through.

He will be missed, and that's selling it short.

He seemed immortal, and it's bizarre that he wasn't.

  8. I work at that venue and didn't get scheduled, nor could I afford to take the night off at any of my jobs so I could go to the show.

I made money, yeah, but I'd rather see AEW live for goddamn FREE.

Or, at the very least, serve beers to fans of the professional wrestling.

P.S. - I hope no one got lost in that building tonight. That place is a fucking LABYRINTH.

Jokic has still never played with a teammate who in that season made an all-star team, all-defensive team, or received a single vote for even All-NBA third team.

The fact that he has a ring is jaw dropping.

He should demand a trade to the Pistons.

WE'LL BRING BACK THE HORSE JERSEYS PERMANENTLY, JUST SAYIN'

I can't take credit...it's early and I'm still working on coffee #2.  I just Googled "Marvel heroes not in Endgame."  🤣

Darby started as Wolverine, now he's slowly morphing into some faux edgy Leifeld shit.

Let's not get carried away here. Darby has feet.

  11. The Pistons just beat the Cavs.

    Without Cade.

(Tobias Harris was out and Jaden Ivey's been out for a minute, too.)

Mitchell had a 38 point night, 22 of them in the 4th.

The Pistons are for real and a fucking PROBLEM.

I just found out that Gene Hoglan learned ALL THE RIFFS to Death's Individual Thought Patterns so he could match them to what he wanted to do on the drums.

Think about that for a minute.

Gene rules. Everyone knows that, but he was one the guys that really laid the groundwork for extreme metal drumming. It's pretty remarkable what he, Pete Sandoval and the rest of the of the early death metal and grind drummers accomplished. Yeah, they had thrash and fast hardcore to build off of, but beyond that, they had to invent the language. The techniques are wired and developed now, but they had to create them. It was nowhere near as easy to share that knowledge as it is now, so some guys were pretty much muscle-ing their way through, like Mick Harris and Rich Hoak. Dave Witte fucked his ligaments up playing in Discordance Axis and literally cannot play that fast anymore.

Gene's still back there playing like he's filing his taxes and has not lost a step at all. It's really fuckin' cool to see.

Toni is more over than Mox and nobody cares about the World title right now.

Tbh, Toni's the Ace of the company right now.

Mox is too goddamn dumb anymore to be the champion. Don't feud with a 51 year old over a title that no one can see.

    With his Vinyard-brother lookin' ass.

Still gotta watch Billie vs Mercedes, but Bayne/Stat was clubberin' on the mothership. More of that, plz.
