  1. Reading Empires of Time. It's definitely vegetable reading, but now that I've gotten out of the introduction and into the parts the author has actually studied and is excited about it's picking up.

Read the second half of the ElfQuest: Stargazer's Quest. Why do I do this to myself? There's been no good ElfQuest since the late 1990s, and definitely not since the beginning of the Final Quest.

Malika: Warrior Queen volume 1 was a free borrow from Hoopla, and I liked it enough to want to read the next part of it eventually. The art's a little mushy, but the story is good.

I liked how every patch, no matter how small, took at least an hour to install.  And there were a shitload of patches.

Also the game is pretty boring.

I'm facerolling through it at the moment, once I turned everything that might make it interesting off. It still randomly dumps to the login screen about once a day. My stubborn side has latched on, tho, so I'll go as far as I can (I don't think I've ever gotten past Act V) before giving up again.

So since everyone on my Mastodon server has mentioned Path of Exile in the last week, guess who decided to check if my account is still active (It is!) and downloaded it?

Only took 15 minutes to crash to desktop. Ah, yes, now I remember why I got so frustrated with it...

Starting up Fairy Tale where I left off last year. This is definitely rocketing to the top of my favorite King book ever, about to knock off Firestarter and The Talisman.

Million billion stars. Absolutely perfect. Well crafted, well written, sticks the landing flawlessly. Probably the best book Stephen King has ever written. Highly recommended to anyone who loves fairy tales.

Went to my local library and picked up Bloodlines by Claudia Grey

For some reason I just don't enjoy her writing. It's not bad, it's just.... there. I had the same reaction with her Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan Master and Apprentice book a few years ago. 2/5 stars, I won't remember 99% of this by next week.

Also read Saladin Ahmed's Quicksilver: No Surrender, which was short and sweet and very much written like his Black Bolt comics. Too bad the art was mostly blehg.

Update: Universal is being fined $250 for the trimming. The city controller cited outdated laws limiting the penalties that could be issued.

    Bah.

Well, the bad publicity is eternal.

Greg Keyes is probably known to most of y'all as a Star Wars and Babylon 5 author, but I have had the first three books in his Kingdoms of Thorn and Bone books for nearly 15 years. Well, today I FINALLY got my hands on a hardcover copy of The Born Queen for my very own!

Finished that up. A well written 4-part series, that ends right where it should. George R. R. Martin could never. 😉

Went to my local library and picked up Bloodlines by Claudia Grey and Fairy Tale by Stephen King, and grabbed Empires of Time: Calendars, Clocks, and Cultures by Anthony Aveni off of their free table.

    Does The Crow count?

Not really, IMO. They didn't use AI or anything like that to replace Brandon. For the broken mirror shot they just re-used already existing footage, and the few times we're seeing the stunt double run around we actually never see his face.
