  1. 4/5 stars to Once and Future, vol 5, by Kieron Gillen.

The mad lad did it - he stuck the landing in a way that made sense without an extreme amount of Dues Ex Machinas. And we even (finally!) got the reason why most of the Arthur's look like... that. At some point I will definite want to go back and read them all the way through in a much shorter timeline, just to see what I forgot.

Got the the point where I remembered all the usual Sacred stuff (always buy undead killing potions, do not consume the skill things or they never recharge) and oof, they did not balance a ranged character well at all. Time to roll up with a Seraphim and try again.

Ugh, ran into a game breaking bug with Seraphim twice and I'm done. Uninstalled.

I've got to get caught up with FF XIV anyways...

So it is way too late to postpone the Bills game in my opinion.  In looking at social media the stadium is still full of snow.  People complaining that they were robbed of a snow game will still get their wish

They'll get their wish of watching players playing on an unheated surface that will feel like concrete and badly injure someone

To start out the new year, I'm playing a game from 2004 - Sacred (Gold version). It's still very pretty, and very dumb, and very fun.

  5. The World We Make by N. K. Jemisin is not her best work, but it's still light years beyond the usual run of the mill stuff. She explains what happened (COVID, editing, reality being way too fucking real) and I get it. There's definitely a couple points where you go, "Ah, yeah, this should've been explained already, and probably was in the first go." But definitely worth it if you read The City We Became.

It's in our contract that whenever the local school district closes for weather so does our office so I have a snow day today!

Honestly this might whip even more ass at 43 than it did when I was a kid.

I think the only cut I've seen is the Final Cut. Caught some of that original with a bored, listless Harrison Ford doing voiceover and said NOPE.

Oh, there's a version without that? Thanks, I will go find me a rental of it.

Apparently all I watched in 2023 was various versions of A Christmas Carol

There are some good ones out there, and some rare ones that don't exist outside of a janky VHS copy in the basement somewhere.

  9. Still playing a lot of Lord of the Rings: Online - Nostalgia is strong, sure, but this is also a very good MMO that you can play mostly solo and without subscribing at all.

I've still got a sub to Final Fantasy XIV, and have started to think, "Oh I should log in that alt over there and work on her a bit."

A couple of silly Match 3/Match Mahjong games to pass the time.

My computer is pretty much at the end of it's life cycle; I can't play anything from about 2020 onward, unless it's a real simple one. Which is not bad, per se, but there's a bunch of things I've been thinking about playing that I can't. We'll see what Mom and Dad's taxes look like this year, maybe there's some room in the budget for an upgrade.

  10. Read 79 things this year, beating my goal of 75. I plan to keep the same goal for next year, but try to balance the book/comic ratio a bit better.

I either need to break down and get a decent e-reader, or get over my aversion to reading books on my iPhone. Not sure which is more likely to happen.
